Experimental semi-device-independent certification of entangled measurements

    Get PDF
Certifying the entanglement of quantum states with Bell inequalities allows one to guarantee the security of quantum information protocols independently of imperfections in the measuring devices. Here we present a similar procedure for witnessing entangled measurements, which play a central role in many quantum information tasks. Our procedure is termed semi-device-independent, as it uses uncharacterized quantum preparations of fixed Hilbert space dimension. Using a photonic setup, we experimentally certify an entangled measurement using measurement statistics only. We also apply our techniques to certify unentangled but nevertheless inherently quantum measurements.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure

The present status of small scale traditional fishery at Tuticorin

    Get PDF
Tuticorin enjoys an imique position along the Gulf of Mannar in the east coast of India in view of the facilities available for the development and exploitation of the marine fisheries of the region. A good flashing harbour affords facilities for smaller trawlers in the mechanised fishing sector. Large industrial fishery trawlers get facilities in the major harbour. There is a well established traditional system of craft and gears suited for the local conditions. This account is a positive attempt to highlight the changing pattern of the traditional fishery over the last few years and gives a comprehensive coverage of the gear-wise, specieswise and season-wise fish landings by the small scale traditional sector from 1979 to 1985 based on regular sampling of the commercial catch at Tuticorin fish landing centres

Heavy landing of brown pomfret at Tuticorin

From December 1992 to February 1993 bumper catch of brown pomfret Stromateus niger was recorded at Harbour Point landing centre which is a traditional site for shore seine operations at Tuticorin. Some enterprising shore seine fishermen after seeing schools of brown pomfret moving near the Tuticorin harbour anchorage used their encircling net to catch the

Impact of motorization on the traditional fishery at Tuticorin

Analysis on the impact of motorization on traditional fishermen and deals with the total fish catch of various gears using motorized crafts as compared with total catch by non-motorized crafts using similar gears and covers the period from 1986 to 1992. One reason for decrease in fish catch after motorization of traditional crafts is the intensive fishing carried out by motorized units in the inshore areas traditionally fished by non-motorized fishing units. It is also possible that rsufficient recruitment is not taking place in the fishing grounds to give an encouraging trend in the motorized fishery

Dynamics of Global Entanglement under Decoherence

We investigate the dynamics of global entanglement, the Meyer-Wallach measure, under decoherence, analytically. We study two important class of multi-partite entangled states, the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and the W state. We obtain exact results for various models of system-environment interactions (decoherence). Our results shows distinctly different scaling behavior for these initially entangled states indicating a relative robustness of the W state, consistent with previous studies.Comment: 5 pages and 5 figure

Catamaran fishery for Hilsa toli at Tuticorin

    Get PDF
Every year some traditional fishermen from Kanyakumari migrate to Tuticorin with their catamaran craft to fish with various gears according to availability offish groups in the area. During 1988 these fishermen developed a nylon fish net with 4 to 5 cm mesh size to catch large quantities of Hilsa toli Fowler locally called 'Kalar' available near the Hare Island fishing grounds at depth range from three to four metres

Trapezoidal Fuzzy Shortest Path (TFSP) Selection for Green Routing and Scheduling Problems

    Get PDF
The routing of vehicles represents an important component of many distribution and transportation systems. Finding the shortest path is one of the fundamental and popular problems. In real life applications, like vehicle green routing and scheduling, transportation, etc. which are related to environmental issues the arc lengths could be uncertain due to the fluctuation with traffic conditions or weather conditions. Therefore finding the exact optimal path in such networks could be challenging. In this paper, we discuss and analyze different approaches for finding the Fuzzy Shortest Path. The shortest path is computed using the ranking methods based on i)Degree of Similarity ii) Acceptable Index, where the arc lengths are expressed as trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. The Decision makers can choose the best path among the various alternatives from the list of rankings by prioritizing the scheduling which facilitates Green Routing

Tagged tiger shark (Galeocerda cuvieri) landed atTuticorin

    Get PDF
The shark was caught by a mechanised Tuticorin type boat using hooks and line . The fish was caught at a distance of 40 km from shore southeast of Tuticorin in the 26 fathom depth area The fish weighed 130 kg and was sold by auction for Rupees 916. Morphometric measurements (in mm) of tagged tiger shark Galeocerda cuvieri caught off Tuticorin are Total length 2,050, Fork length 1,680, and detailed morphometry were recorded
