    Bone Density Modeling from X-Ray Image Data

    Bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou a modelování kostních struktur z RTG obrazových dat. Teoretická část práce přibližuje problematiku a poznatky o RTG záření a zdravotnických zařízeních generující RTG záření s účelem neinvazivně vytvořit snímky tělesných struktur. Dále pojednává o způsobech zpracování obrazů z hlediska detekce, extrakce a analýzy oblastí zájmů. Praktická část práce se zabývá návrhem interaktivní aplikace k automatické detekci a extrakci kostních struktur z obrazů RTG snímků a následně modelováním jejich hustoty. Pro tyto účely je použit algoritmus aktivní kontury. Zhotovená aplikace umožňuje uživateli načíst obraz RTG snímku, nalézt a extrahovat celou kostní strukturu anebo její určitou část, a nakonec exportovat výsledky o její hustotě do uživatelem zvoleného místa. V aplikaci je použito 20 obrazů RTG snímků různých kostí, jež jsou extrahovány s různými nastaveními aktivní kontury, s cílem nalézt nejpřesnější segmentaci.The bachelor thesis deals with the analysis and modeling of bone structures from X-ray image data. The theoretical part presents the issue and knowledge about X-rays and medical devices generating X-rays, in order to non-invasively create images of body structures. It also discusses methods of image processing in terms of detection, extraction and analysis of areas of interest. The practical part deals with the design of an interactive application for automatic detection and extraction of bone structures from X-ray images and subsequently modeling their density. For this purpose, the chosen algorithm is an active contour. The resulting application allows a user to import an X-ray image, detect and extract the entire bone structure or a certain part of it, and finally export the results of its density to a user-selected directory. 20 X-ray images, representing different bone structures, are used in the application with different active contour settings, with the intent of finding the most accurate segmentation.450 - Katedra kybernetiky a biomedicínského inženýrstvívýborn

    Design of proposed software system for prediction of iliosacral screw placement for iliosacral joint injuries based on X-ray and CT images

    One of the crucial tasks for the planning of surgery of the iliosacral joint is placing an iliosacral screw with the goal of fixing broken parts of the pelvis. Tracking of proper screw trajectory is usually done in the preoperative phase by the acquisition of X-ray images under different angles, which guide the surgeons to perform surgery. This approach is standardly complicated due to the investigation of 2D X-ray images not showing spatial perspective. Therefore, in this pilot study, we propose complex software tools which are aimed at making a simulation model of reconstructed CT (DDR) images with a virtual iliosacral screw to guide the surgery process. This pilot study presents the testing for two clinical cases to reveal the initial performance and usability of this software in clinical conditions. This model is consequently used for a multiregional registration with reference intraoperative X-ray images to select the slide from the 3D dataset which best fits with reference X-ray. The proposed software solution utilizes input CT slices of the pelvis area to create a segmentation model of individual bone components. Consequently, a model of an iliosacral screw is inserted into this model. In the next step, we propose the software CT2DDR which makes DDR projections with the iliosacral screw. In the last step, we propose a multimodal registration procedure, which performs registration of a selected number of slices with reference X-ray, and based on the Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) and index of correlation, the procedure finds the best match of DDR with X-ray images. In this pilot study, we also provide a comparative analysis of the computational costs of the multimodal registration upon various numbers of DDR slices to show the complex software performance. V první části je uveden význam recyklace kovů, vlastnosti a průmyslový význam ušlechtilých kovů a jejich vliv na životní prostředí. V dalších částech jsou zveřejněny zdroje těchto kovů, jsou zde popsány jednotlivé druhy recyklace, popsány materiálové charakteristiky a metody zpracování tohoto druhu odpadu.In the presented thesis there is a description of processing of electrical and electronic waste regarding gaining noble metals and other raw materials which are further used in various industrial productions. In the first part I focused on metal recycling importance, on noble metals properties, it´s industrial value and it´s environmental consequences.     (in English) This work explores the critique of Protagoras' teachings presented by Plato in the first third of the dialogue Theaetetus. Plato approaches this criticism through Theaetetus' initial definition of knowledge, namely that knowledge is perception, which Plato considers equivalent to Protagoras' statement that 'man is the measure of all things.' In this work, I focus on whether Plato's critique of Protagoras, as he is depicted here, is legitimate. I intend to highlight its less convincing arguments and attempt to provide a possible response to the stronger ones. Specifically, I want to concentrate on the argument where Protagoras is compelled to agree that his theory is invalid because, according to his own theory, it is not possible for his opponents to be mistaken, and also try to offer a potential response that Protagoras could present in this context
