    A Survey on Physical Education and Sport Department Students’ Opinion about Cooperative Learning Method

    The aim of the study is to find out the opinion of the students who had taken two different courses as theoretical and applied courses about this learning strategy with the help of cooperative learning method and to match the opinion of students who are studying theoretical and applied courses with each other. Totally, 55 students, 25 of which are the ones who studied applied “Basic Gymnasium” in the curriculum of Physical Education and Sports Academy of Education Faculty in the academic year of 2009-2010, and, 30 of which are the ones who studied theoretical “Physical Education and Fundamentals of Sports” at the same department in the academic year of 2010-2011, constitute the sample group of cooperative learning method that was applied. At the end of courses, student opinion scale that was developed by the researchers in order to detect the interests of students about the related method was applied to the students. In order to find out the opinion of the students about the method, their answers to the questions were evaluated statistically and percentage distributions were given comparatively as a result of the applications that have been done. According to the data that was gathered, the application of cooperative learning method in physical and sports department was confronted positively. The study has revealed that the students to whom cooperative learning method was applied in applied courses had more positive thoughts than the students to whom cooperative learning method was applied in theoretical courses.     THE ANALYSIS OF RELATION BETWEEN DIFFERENT VARIABLES AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ MOTIVES FOR PARTICIPATION IN SPORTS

    The object of this study is to determine the motives of university students who participate in physical activities during college education and examine whether the data differ according to educational background, sex and family support. A total of 100 students from the department of physical education and sports teaching participated in the study. As a data collection tool in the work, "Participation in Sport Motivation Scale", Gill et al. (1983), translated into Turkish by Çelebi (1991) and published by Oyar et al. (2001) have been used for validity and reliability between the studies in the age of 11-17 (6,13). In the study, reliability was checked again for this group and reliability coefficient was 0.86 in Cronbach Alpha internal consistency test. The most important motive for participation in sports for university students in the study has been found to be "skill development" and "movement/activity". In the consequences related with the motives of individuals for participation in sports, because the average for each sub-dimension is high, differences within these averages can be a determining factor in the preparation of the activities, plans and programs to be carried out and more and willing participation of the individuals in their physical activity.  Article visualizations

    ANALYSIS OF SHORT TRACK SPEED SKATERS COURAGE LEVELS FROM DIFFERENT VARIABLES

    The object of this work is to analyze the courage levels of short track speed skaters from different variables. The study has been carried out on a total of 20 individuals, including 6 women and 14 men, who performed as short track speed skaters in Erzurum province of Turkey in 2017. DBA courage scale developed by (Imamoğlu, 1998) has been applied to skaters in the study9. SPSS 21 package program has been used for the analysis of the data. In the analysis of the data, frequency distribution for the demographic characteristics, T test to examine the relationship between two independent variables and courage level and ANOVA Variance analysis tests have been used to examine the relationship between more than two variables and courage level. The difference between the variables has been interpreted based on p 0.05 relevance level. According to the findings, it is determined that there is a significant difference between the level of courage of the athletes and being a national athlete. It is also determined that there is no significant difference between gender, education level, age, type of school they attended, educational background of mother and father and mother and father’s occupations. It is observed that, courage levels of national athletes are higher than that of non-national athletes. It is proposed that, it is important to determine the variables that will positively influence the level of courage for the athletes to be successful in sports and daily life.  Article visualizations

    Research for University Students’ Levels of Dealing with Stress from Different Types of Variables

    This research aims to investigate university students’ levels of dealing with stress, from different types of variables. The study was carried out on a total of 500 individuals, including 346 female and 154 male students studying at Atatürk University Kazim Karabekir Faculty of Education in 2016/2017 academic year. In this work, Oral, Çok ve Kutlu (2005) "The Level of dealing with Stress in Educational System" scale was for the students. SPSS 21 package program was used in the analysis of the data. For the analysis of the data, and in determining the demographics, the frequency distribution was used. T test was applied to examine the relationship between two independent variables and stress coping sub-dimensions and Anova Warians analysis tests were used to examine the relationship between two and over variables and stress subscale sub-dimensions. The difference between the variables has been interpreted on the basis of p0.05 significance level. According to the findings, it was found that, there is a significant difference between individuals' stress coping sub-dimensions and gender, book reading habits and spare time activity. There was no significant difference between age, family structure and monthly income variables.It was found out that the scores of female students were higher than the average scores of male students with regard to studying from students' gender and stress coping levels subscales, preparing for an exam and affective, behavioral sub-dimensions. The students who stated that they had the habit of reading books, were found to have high scores in studying, preparing for an exam and the affective behavioral sub-dimensions. It was deduced that the students who spent their leisure time with their family got higher scores from students who spent their spare times with their friends or alone, with regard to studying, preparing for an exam and the affective behavioral sub-dimensions.In order to make students, more effective and successful in educational system, the factors that affect the stress levels should be determined and similar studies are necessary in order to have positive effects for students, which, constitutes the part of the proposal of our study.     The Investigation on Physical Education Teacher Candidate’s Resilience, Tenacity and Motivation Levels

    The main purpose of this study is to examine possible relationships between resilience, tenacity and motivation of physical education teacher candidates. In addition, resilience, tenacity and motivation levels were examined according to class and gender levels. Participants of the study are 154 PE students in Ağrı province. There are 50 female participants and 104 male students. The Resilience Scale adapted to Turkish by Sarıçam et al. (2012). The Tenacity Scale-Short Form adapted to Turkish by Sarıçam et al. (2016) Stability Scale and Personal Information Form were used. To analyze the data, t test, ANOVA, Pearson moment product correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. 99% p <.01 was taken as confidence interval in the study. According to research findings, there are statistically significant relationships in positive direction among the resilience, tenacity and motivation in the candidates of physical education teachers. When the resilience increases, tenacity and motivation levels also increase. According to gender and class level, resilience, tenacity and motivational stability do not differ statistically. The study can be expanded by adding different sections and classes

    Bilgisayar bilimlerinde her geçen gün yaşanan gelişmelerin, iletişim teknolojilerinin gelişimini de olumlu etkilediği görülmüştür. Bilişim alanındaki gelişmeler ve internet teknolojisinin yaygınlaşması yeni iletişim ortamlarını oluşturmuştur. İnsanların yeni iletişim ortamlarını sıkça kullanması ve buralarda bıraktıkları izler yani veriler (video, fotoğraf, enformasyon) giderek yığınlara dönüşmüştür. Bu verilerin gazeteciler, araştırmacılar ve veri uzmanları tarafından analiz edilerek, görselleştirilerek ve bir hikâye oluşturularak haber haline getirilmesi süreci veri gazeteciliğini ifade etmektedir. Bu tez çalışması Türkiye’de veri gazeteciliğinin gelişimi ve medya profesyonellerinin veri gazeteciği algısını ölçmeyi amaçlamıştır. Medyada çeşitli görevlerde çalışan 151 kişiye hazırlanan 31 soruluk anket uygulanmıştır. Yine bu çalışmada yeni medya ve yeni gazetecilik kavramları detaylı olarak incelenmiştir. Bu kapsamda araştırmada elde edilen verilerin anlam ilişkisini belirlemek için Pearson Korelasyon testi yapılmıştır. Daha sonra veriler bağımsız örneklem t-testi ve tek yönlü ANOVA ile incelenmiştir. Anlamlı farklılık bulunan grupların tespiti için Tukey testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda medya profesyonellerinin veri gazeteciliği algısı, yaş, cinsiyet, eğitim durumu, görev süresi ve gelir durumuna göre anlamlı bir fark olduğu görülürken, eğitim durumuna göre bir farklılık olmadığı görülmüştür. ABSTRACT It has been seen that the developments experienced in computer science are affecting the development of communication technologies positively. Developments in the field of information technology and the widespread use of internet technology have created new communication environments. Frequent use of new communication environments by people and traces of them (videos, photographs, information) that they leave are increasingly turning into masses. The process by which journalists, researchers, and data experts analyze, visualize, and create a story and express it as data journalism. In this thesis study, it was aimed to measure the development of data journalism in Turkey and the data journalism perception of media professionals. A questionnaire of 31 questions was prepared for 151 people working in various positions in the media. In this study, new media and new journalism topics were examined in detail. In this context, Pearson Correlation test was performed to determine the meaning relation of the data obtained in the research. Later, the data obtained in the study were examined by independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA. The Tukey test was used to identify groups with significant differences. As a result of the research, it was seen that the media professionals had a meaningful difference according to the data journalism perception, age, physical education level, working years and income level, but there was no difference according to education level

    Bu çalışmanın amacı, güreş sporu yapan elit düzeydeki güreşçilerin bireysel başarıları ile psikolojik ihtiyaçlarının ve atılganlık düzeylerinin incelenmesidir. Araştırmanın evrenini; Türkiye'deki farklı il ve kulüplerde güreş sporuyla ilgilenen ve 20062007 sezonunda büyükler Türkiye şampiyonasına katılmaya hak kazanan sporcular oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini ise; 17 40 yaş arası büyükler Türkiye şampiyonasına katılan Serbest stilde 89 erkek sporcu, Grekoromen stilde 80 erkek sporcu ve bayanlar serbest stilde mücadele eden 44 bayan güreşçi oluşturmaktadır. İlk olarak araştırmanın amacına ilişkin mevcut bilgiler, literatürün taranmasıyla sistematik bir şekilde verilmiştir. Böylece konu hakkında teorik bir çerçeve oluşturulmuştur. İkinci olarak araştırmanın amacına ulaşmak için araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan kişisel bilgi formu, Deci ve Ryan(2000) tarafından geliştirilen, Kesici, Üre ve ark.( 2002) tarafından Türkçe'ye uyarlaması yapılan Temel Psikolojik İhtiyaçlar Ölçeği ve Rathus(1973) tarafından geliştirilen, voltan(1980) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanması yapılan atılganlık envanteri tesadüfî örneklem yoluyla erkek ve bayan güreşçilere uygulanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde t Testi uygulanırken, One Way (tek yönlü varyans analizi) testi kullanılmış gruplar arası farkları belirleyebilmek içinde Tukey testi kullanılarak manidarlık (P)0,05 alınmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde ve hesaplanmış değerlerin bulunmasında SPSS (Statistical Package For Social Sciences) paket programı kullanılmış ve ölçeğin güvenilirlik katsayısı özerklik için (Cronbach Alpha) 0.73, yeterlik için 0.60, ilişki için 0.73 ve atılganlık için 0,78 bulunmuştur. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda; Güreşçilerin temel psikolojik ihtiyaç düzeylerine bakıldığında: Anne- Baba tutumu demokratik olanların koruyucu olanlara göre, milli olan güreşçilerin milli olmayanlara göre, Spor yılı değişkeni 13 yıl arası olan güreşçilerin 10 yıl ve üzerinde olan güreşçilere göre ilişki ihtiyaçları yüksek çıkmıştır. Ayrıca, 13 yıl arası olan güreşçilerin 10 yıl ve üzerinde olan güreşçilere göre, Bayan güreşçilerin erkek güreşçiler göre, Serbest stil güreşçilerin grekoromen stildeki güreşçilere göre özerklik ihtiyaçları yüksek çıkmıştır. Güreşçilerin atılganlık düzeylerine bakıldığında ise: Grekoromen güreşçilerin serbest güreşçilere göre, Bayan güreşçilerin erkek güreşçilere göre, Başarılı güreşçilerin başarısız güreşçilere göre, Demokratik Aile ortamında yetişen güreşçilerin koruyucu aile ortamında yetişen güreşçilere göre atılganlık düzeyleri yüksek çıkmıştır.It has been aimed in this study to analyze personal achievments, psychological needings and boldness level of elite wrestlers. Subjects has been chosen from wrestlers, have the right to take part in Turkey Wrestling Championship in 2006-2007 season, deal with the wrestling sport in various cities and clubs in Turkey. Subjects consist of wrestlers whose age range from 17 to 40 and participated in Turkey Wrestling championship, and these wrestlers include 89 male free-style wrestlers, 80 male greko-romen style wrestlers and 44 free-style female wrestlers. Firstly, information related to the aim of the survey has been given systematically by scanning literature. Thus, a theoretical framework about the topic has been established. Secondly, personal identification form created by the resarcher, psychological needings inventory, developed by Deci and Ryan (2000) adapted into Turkish by Kesici, Üre et al. (2002), and boldness inventory developed by Rathus (1973) adapted into Turkish by Voltan (1980), applied on the male and female wrestlers randomly in order to achieve the object of this study. One Way test was used while test t was used to analyze the data, besides Tukey test was used to determine the differences between the goups by a (P) 0.05 significance. SPSS (Statistical package for social sciences) programme has been used to evaluate data and find out values. Reliability coefficient was found as 1.73 for the autonomy ( Cronbach Alpha) as 0.60 for the sufficiency and as 1.78 for the boldness. As a result, It has been found that wrestlers, who have more liberal parents, having played in national team, having wrestled in 1 to 3 years, have a higher level of relationship needings. Female wrestlers have a higher level of autonmy needings than male wrestlers while free-style wrestlers have a higher level of autonmy needings than greko-romen style wrestlers. Level of Boldness has been observed at a higher level in those wrestlers, who wrestles in greko-romen style, who are female, who are successful and have liberal families, than those wrestlers who wrestles in free-style, who are male, who are unsuccessful and have protectşve parents

    An Investigation of the Relationship Between Leadership Styles of Physical Education and Sports Academy Students and Different Variables (The Case of Ordu University)

    This study investigated the relationship between gender, major and class level of students and their views on leadership styles. The study was carried out on students of Physical Education and Sports Academy (PESA) of Ordu University, between 2015 and 2016. PESA graduates work for schools, sports clubs and in different areas of sports as teachers, coaches, managers and sports writers. They exhibit various features of leadership in order to enable students, athletes or other individuals engaging in sports to achieve set goals and teach them to develop necessary behavioral patterns to sustain their success.The aim of this study is to reveal the relationship between gender, major and class level of PESA students and their views on leadership styles. The study was carried out with a total of 251 participants; 116 (46.2%) women and 125 (53.8%) men. The Leadership Style test scale developed by Frew et al. (1977) and adapted to Turkish by Konter (1996) was used to assess this relationship. Data were analyzed using the SPSS, version 20. Frequency distributions were used to determine the demographic characteristics of the students. A chi-square analysis was performed to determine the relationship between the independent variables and leadership styles. The results indicate that there is no statistically significant relationship between students’ gender and class levels and their views on leadership styles.The results show that there is a statistically significant relationship between students’ majors and their views on leadership styles. Management students show features of moderately democratic leadership and features of very democratic leadership while teaching students do not. Another noteworthy finding is that students mainly display mixed features of leadership. It is suggested that courses on leadership be included in the curriculum of physical education and sports departments. Seminars, panels, congresses, etc. should be held to inform students on leadership and, moreover, they should be encouraged to participate in scientific studies.This study was orally presented at the 9th International Education Research Congress held at Ordu University between 11 and 14 May, 2017.
