A polarised QCD condensate: nu p elastic scattering as a probe of U_A(1) dynamics
U_A(1) dynamics have the potential to induce a polarised condensate inside a
nucleon. The formation of this condensate is related to the realisation of
U_A(1) symmetry breaking by tunneling processes such as instantons. If it is
present, the polarised condensate induces a term in g_1 which has support only
at x=0. Tunneling processes then induce a net transfer of ``spin'' from finite
x to x=0. The polarised condensate may be measured by comparing the
flavour-singlet axial charges which are extracted from polarised deep inelastic

We emphasise the EMC spin effect as a problem of symmetry and discuss the
renormalisation of the axial tensor operators. This involves the
generalisation of the Adler-Bell-Jackiw anomaly to each of these operators. We
find that the contribution of the axial anomaly to the spin dependent structure
function scales at . This means that the anomaly
can be a large effect in . Finally we discuss the jet signature of the

Spin constraints on Regge predictions and perturbative evolution in high energy collisions
Two key issues in the application of perturbative QCD and Regge predictions
to high energy processes are whether the hard and soft pomerons should be
considered as two separate distinct exchanges and whether the Regge intercepts
are Q^2 independent or not. Models involving a distinct hard pomeron exchange
predict much larger values for the LHC total cross-section. Here we argue that
there is a polarized analogue of this issue in the isovector part of the spin
structure function g_1 and that the spin data appear to favour a distinct hard

The Spin Structure of a Polarized Photon
We show that the first moment of the spin-dependent structure function
of a real photon vanishes independent of the momentum
transfer it is probed with. This result is non-perturbative: it holds to
all orders in perturbation theory in abelian and non-abelian gauge theory and

We combine Witten's renormalization group with the matching conditions of
Bernreuther and Wetzel to calculate at next-to-leading order the complete
heavy-quark contribution to the neutral-current axial-charge measurable in
neutrino-proton elastic scattering. Our results are manifestly renormalization
