    Apparent ionization cross-sections of,several atoms and molecules for 70 ev electrons have been measured with the help of a mass spectrometer. By introducing a simple correction an attempt has been made to improve the method of Otvos and Stevenson for the calculation of the ionization cross-sections of atoms and molecules. With this correction, the additivity postulate for the molecular ionization cross-sections appears to hold better the additivity postulate for tho molecular ionization cross-sections appears to hold better

    Outage Probability Analysis of Dual Hop Relay Networks in Presence of Interference

    Cooperative relaying improves the performance of wireless networks by forming a network of multiple independent virtual sources transmitting the same information as the source node. However, interference induced in the network reduces the performance of cooperative communications. In this work the statistical properties, the cumulative distribution function (CDF) and the probability density function (PDF) for a basic dual hop cooperative relay network with an arbitrary number of interferers over Rayleigh fading channels are derived. Two system models are considered: in the first system model, the interferers are only at the relay node; and in the second system model, interferers are both at the relay and the destination. This work is further extended to Nakagami-m faded interfering channels. Simulation results are presented on outage probability performance to verify the theoretical analysis

    Piperine content variation in different Piper longum germplasms of North East India determined through RP-HPLC method

    The present experiment was conducted at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat with ten accessions including check variety of Piper Longum germplasm collected from different states of North Eastern region during 2013-14 and 2014-15.The piperine, a major alkaloid used in different therapeutic treatment, per cent content was determined from dried plant materials. Deionised water was used throughout the experiment and the chromatographic separation was carried out in an isocratic elution mode on RP-18 column with 5?m particle size, 4.6mm internal diameter and 250mm length. The mobile phase was a mixture of methanol and water (80: 20). The solvent flow rate was 1.0 ml/minwith injection volume 20 µL. The photo diode array detector wavelength was set at 342 nm for the identification of piperine in all extracts. The per cent piperine content in extract was found to be 42.36 per cent in germplasm PLJ-30.The highest per cent piperine content in fruit was recorded in PLJ-11(7.85%) followed by germplasm PLJ-9 (7.64) and significantly superior over check variety“Viswam”(5.15%). The descending order of piperine content in fruits among germplasm was PLJ-11?PLJ-09?PLJ-30?PLJ-17? PLJ-03? PLJ-19? check variety?PLJ-01? PLJ-20 and PLJ-16. It can be revealed from the present experiment that piper germplasm with high piperine content has a great scope for commercial cultivation as alkaloid piperine has high demand in pharmaceutical use

    Assessment of safety and effectiveness of desoximetasone emollient cream 0.25% in comparison to mometasone cream 0.1% in Indian patients with eczema

    Background: Topical corticosteroids have become indispensable in the treatment of eczema. The current study was conducted to assess the safety and effectiveness of Desoximetasone emollient cream 0.25% (DESO) compared to Mometasone cream 0.1% (MOM) in patients with eczema.Methods: This was a prospective, observational, open label, multicentre post marketing study at real-life scenario. Newly diagnosed, treatment naïve patients with clinical diagnosis of eczema were enrolled. All patients received either DESO or MOM for 3 weeks. Primary end point was proportion of patients developing adverse events. Secondary endpoints comprised of change in visual analog scale for perception of improvement in intensity of pruritus at day 14 and day 21 from baseline, change in eczema area and severity index (EASI) score at day 0 and day 21.Results: 45 patients in DESO group and 43 patients in MOM group completed study. DESO and MOM were well tolerated. Severity of pruritus was significantly reduced in 54.59% patients in DESO group compared to 45.60% patients in MOM group on day 14 (p=0.023). Severity of pruritus was reduced in 69.16% patients in DESO group as compared to 66.97 % patients in MOM group on day 21 (p=NS). There was a statistically significant reduction (p<0.001) in EASI score at day 21 and as compared to baseline within the study groups, but without any difference between the groups.Conclusions: Desoximetasone 0.25% emollient cream was well tolerated in the treatment of eczema with earlier reduction in pruritus as compared to Mometasone furoate 1% cream

    One isomeric ligand, LB among three isomers (LA, LB and LC) of 2,9- C-meso-2,5,5,7,9,12,12,14-octamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecanes, differing in the orientation of methyl groups on the chiral carbon atoms) on interaction with vinyl acetate produces 2,9-C-meso-2,5,5,7,9,12,12,14- octamethyl-1,8-diaza-4,11-diazoniacyclotetradecane as its bis(acetate) trihydrate, [LBH2][OOCCH3]2.3H2O. This ligand salt trihydrate reacts with Zn(CH3COO)2.2H2O to produce square pyramidal monoacetatozinc(II) acetate complex [ZnLB(CH3COO)](CH3COO), which undergoes anion exchange reaction with NaClO4.6H2O to produce monoacetatozinc(II) perchlorate complex, [ZnLB(CH3COO)](ClO4). The complex, [ZnLB(CH3COO)](ClO4) undergoes axial substitution reactions with KSCN, NaNO2 and KNO3 to form the substitution products, [ZnLB(NCS)](NCS), [ZnLB(NO2)](ClO4) and [ZnLB(NO3)](ClO4) respectively where CH3COOis replaced by NCS- , NO3 - and NO2 - . All these complexes have been characterized on the basis of analytical, spectroscopic, conductometric and magnetochemical data. The antifungal and antibacterial activities of these compounds have been studied against some phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria

    Lattice-driven magnetic transitions in Al(Fe,T)2X2 compounds

    Systematic trends connect detailed composition, lattice parameters and magnetic transition temperatures in the ferromagnetic intermetallic compound AlT2X2 with the Mn2AlB2-type crystal structure, where T = Mn, Fe, Ni, Co and X = B, C. Data were derived from both literature reports and from experiments performed on synthesized samples (T = (Fe1−xNix)2, x = 0, 0.05, 0.1; X = (B0.9C0.1)2). It is observed that compositional variation alters specific bonds responsible for the magnetic phase transition response, which ranges from 200 K ≤ Tt ≤ 310 K. Elemental composition that provides changes in the c-axis length and the associated (T-T)c-axis interatomic distance contribute the largest bonding effects to magnetic phase transition temperature Tt, alterations. Overall, these results are attributed to the dependence of Tt on the specifics of the Fe sublattice occupancy, electronic state and T-T bonding. In contrast, Tt is found to be largely independent of the (b/a) axial ratios and the associated (T-X)b-axis/(T-X)(ac)-plane interatomic distance ratios, indicating that interatomic interactions along the a-axis have little effect on the Tt
