    The increasing usage of mobile communication and the declining demand for fixed line telephony in Europe make the analysis of substitutional effects between fixed and mobile networks a key aspect for future telecommunication regulation. Using a unique dataset which contains information on all 27 European Union members from 2003 to 2009, we analyze substitutability between fixed and mobile telecommunications services in Europe by applying dynamic panel data techniques. We find strong empirical evidence for substitution from fixed to cellular networks throughout Europe.     Rheology of suspensions with aluminum nano-particles

    Nano-scale aluminum particles are innovative materials increasingly used in energetic formulations. In this contribution, the rheological behavior of suspensions with either paraffin oil or HTPB as the matrix fluid and nano-scale aluminum (ALEX) as the dispersed phase is described and discussed. The paraffin oil/aluminum suspensions exhibit non-Newtonian flow behavior over a wide range of concentrations, whereas the HTPB/aluminum suspensions exhibitNewtonian behavior (i.e. the viscosity is independent of shear stress) up to a concentration of 50 vol.% aluminum. Both systems have unusual viscoelastic properties in that their elastic moduli are independent of the solids concentration

    Experimental study of generic billiards with microwave resonators

    In this work we study the eigenstates and the energy spectra of a generic billiard system with the use of microwave resonators. This is possible due to the exact correspondence between the Schroedinger equation and the electric field equations of the lowest modes in thin microwave resonators. We obtain a good agreement between the numerical (exact) and experimental eigenstates, while the short range experimental spectral statistics show the expected Brody-like behaviour in this energy range, as opposed to the Berry-Robnik picture which is valid only in the semiclassical region of sufficiently small effective Planck's constant.Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures (in .GIF format), high quality pictures available upon request, PTP LaTeX style, to be published in the proceedings of the conference/summer school 'Let's Face Chaos through Nonlinear Dynamics', Maribor, Slovenia, June/July 1999, eds.
