Quasi-film commercials. Analysis of selected car manufacturer campaigns

When seeking original forms of expression, contemporary commercials often reach for the achievements of film making. That is reflected in references to the conventions of certain film genres, and the references to particular films. The goal of the article was to present selected examples of the relationships between commercials and film, which can be found in car manufacturer advertising campaigns (Toyota, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz). The Condition of Polish Autobiographical Documentaries – More Similar to a Reality Show?

The autobiographical documentary has a number of elements which resemble those of a reality show. Such documentaries can be considered to be young directors’ responses to this TV genre and its celebration of voyeurism. The purpose of this article is to outline the similarities and differences between these two genres. On the Covariance of ICP-based Scan-matching Techniques

This paper considers the problem of estimating the covariance of roto-translations computed by the Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm. The problem is relevant for localization of mobile robots and vehicles equipped with depth-sensing cameras (e.g., Kinect) or Lidar (e.g., Velodyne). The closed-form formulas for covariance proposed in previous literature generally build upon the fact that the solution to ICP is obtained by minimizing a linear least-squares problem. In this paper, we show this approach needs caution because the rematching step of the algorithm is not explicitly accounted for, and applying it to the point-to-point version of ICP leads to completely erroneous covariances. We then provide a formal mathematical proof why the approach is valid in the point-to-plane version of ICP, which validates the intuition and experimental results of practitioners.Comment: Accepted at 2016 American Control Conferenc

THE PRINCE, “WHO DEDICATED HIS LIFE FOR THE HOMELAND”. PORTRAITS OF COLONEL DOMINIK HIERONIM RADZIWIŁŁ (1786–1813) – THE IX ORDYNAT OF OLYKA. Dominik Hieronim Radziwiłł (1786–1813) was the last Ordynat of Olyka from the Nesvizh line. He was the son of Hieronim Wincenty Radziwiłł (1759-1786) and the nephew of Karol Stanisław „Panie Kochanku” Radziwiłł (1734–1790). Despite the fact, that in his period family residences had deteriorated or became derelict, the estimation about his owner behaviour cannot be negative. It is not denying that this nobleman was a patriot who dedicated his life for the homeland. In 1812, Prince joined Napoleon Army and died in 1813 after the Battle of Hanau. In consequence his name became famous and respected by such an influential generals as Józef Załuski and Zygmunt Krasiński. The symbols of Radziwiłł’s heroism were presented in archival documents, graphics and paintings (for example in pictures from the collections stored in the National Museum in Warsaw and in Schillingsfürst residence). CHAPEL OF ST. ANNE IN THE POST-BERNARDINE CHURCH NEAR PRZYRÓW. CONCEPTUAL PROGRAMME OF THE INTERIOR DESIGN. The architecture, artistic and conceptual program of the sanctuary near Przyrów were determined by the cult of St. Anne. The Bernardine church, donated in 1609, was built as frame for the miraculous figure and relics. The rich iconographical program of the north chapel, where the sculpture was located, was inspired by biblical exegesis as well as by the Christian tradition and the Biblical Apocrypha (the Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew, the Protoevangelium of James). Moreover, the religious motifs represented the Counter-Reformation philosophy. The important sign of these tendencies was altar with vera effigies – the foundation of the province governor of Łęczyca, Tomasz Sołtyk. That masterpiece presents architectural forms and inscriptions connected with the donator. Figures of saints in altar retable might be interpreted in the theological context of the sanctuary. The role of St. Anne in Jesus’ childhood was confirmed by Biblical apocryphal scenes in the cupola. The dome was adorned with frescoes – representative for the quadri riportati convention and “three-dimensional painting” – and stucco works. Deep meaning of this decoration is presented in the last part of the article. Invariant EKF Design for Scan Matching-aided Localization

Localization in indoor environments is a technique which estimates the robot's pose by fusing data from onboard motion sensors with readings of the environment, in our case obtained by scan matching point clouds captured by a low-cost Kinect depth camera. We develop both an Invariant Extended Kalman Filter (IEKF)-based and a Multiplicative Extended Kalman Filter (MEKF)-based solution to this problem. The two designs are successfully validated in experiments and demonstrate the advantage of the IEKF design

DETERMINANTS OF INTERNAL COORDINATION OF FISCAL AND MONETARY INSTRUMENTS IN ANTI-CYCLICAL POLICY

We współczesnej polityce antycyklicznej są wykorzystywane zarówno narzędzia polityki fiskalnej, jak i pieniężnej. W literaturze przedmiotu występują różne poglądy dotyczące roli tych instrumentów, mechanizmu ich antycyklicznego oddziaływania oraz powstałych skutków stabilizacyjnych. Zdecydowanie mniejszą uwagę zwraca się na możliwości, zakres, a przede wszystkim na powstałe antycykliczne konsekwencje wewnętrznej koordynacji narzędzi fiskalnych i pieniężnych. Celem artykułu jest analiza antycyklicznych konsekwencji skoordynowanych narzędzi polityki fiskalnej i pieniężnej oraz głównych czynników determinujących stabilizacyjne skutki ich działania w gospodarkach rynkowych. Opracowanie składa się ze wstępu, dwóch rozdziałów oraz podsumowania. W części pierwszej przedstawiono antycykliczne konsekwencje działania skoordynowanych narzędzi fiskalnych i pieniężnych, a druga zawiera prezentację najważniejszych teoretycznych i praktycznych czynników wpływających na uzyskiwane efekty stabilizacyjne. In the current anti-cyclical policy, instruments of both fiscal and monetary policy are applied. The related literature contains various opinions concerning the role of those instruments, the mechanism of their anti-cyclical influence, and the resulting stabilising effects. Much less attention is paid to the possibilities, range and, above all, the anti-cyclical consequences resulting from internal coordination of fiscal and monetary instruments. The aim of this paper is to analyse those consequences alongside the main factors that determine the stabilising effects of their impact in market economies. The introductory part presents anti-cyclical consequences resulting from the impact of coordinated fiscal and monetary instruments. This is followed by a presentation of the most significant theoretical and practical factors that influence the obtained stabilising effects
