To be or to consume? That is the question: Semiotics Analysis of Advertisements of largest Retail Supermarkets in Brazil

The study of representations and images involved in advertising campaigns is a recurrent resource of marketing managers. Therefore, understanding and analyzing advertisements and their semiotics becomes an important source of research. In this context, the following research problem arises: what are the complementarity, contrariety and contradiction relations that carry the advertisements of supermarket retailers? Thus, the main objective is to analyze semiotic advertising of national supermarket chains through the constitution of a semiotic square. For that, the greimasian methodology (Greimas, 1973) was used, which sustains a generative path of meaning, where the relations existing between the signifiers produce signification. We investigated the advertisements of the largest retail supermarket brands in Brazil, by price, product and people variables. DeepLearningBrasil@LT-EDI-2023: Exploring Deep Learning Techniques for Detecting Depression in Social Media Text

In this paper, we delineate the strategy employed by our team, DeepLearningBrasil, which secured us the first place in the shared task DepSign-LT-EDI@RANLP-2023, achieving a 47.0% Macro F1-Score and a notable 2.4% advantage. The task was to classify social media texts into three distinct levels of depression - "not depressed," "moderately depressed," and "severely depressed." Leveraging the power of the RoBERTa and DeBERTa models, we further pre-trained them on a collected Reddit dataset, specifically curated from mental health-related Reddit's communities (Subreddits), leading to an enhanced understanding of nuanced mental health discourse. To address lengthy textual data, we used truncation techniques that retained the essence of the content by focusing on its beginnings and endings. Our model was robust against unbalanced data by incorporating sample weights into the loss. Cross-validation and ensemble techniques were then employed to combine our k-fold trained models, delivering an optimal solution. PSI-UFRJ: simulações computacionais alinhadas à BNCC para o ensino básico

É notável que o uso das TICs para a aprendizagem tem tido um impacto positivo no âmbito escolar. Dentre elas estão as simulações computacionais (SCs), objeto de estudo central deste trabalho. Apesar disso, por meio de uma pesquisa inicial, percebeu-se que há uma carência de simulações gratuitas em português brasileiro para o ensino de matemática e biologia a nível de ensino básico. Sendo assim, esta pesquisa tem por objetivo desenvolver um conjunto de simulações interativas como recurso de aprendizagem, com sugestões de atividades por meio de planos de aula. Tais simulações são associadas a algumas competências e habilidades da BNCC (Base Nacional Comum Curricular) voltadas para o ensino da matemática e biologia para alunos do 6º ano do ensino fundamental ao 3º ano do ensino médio. Para facilitar o acesso a essas SC, criou-se também a Plataforma de Simulações Interativas da UFRJ (PSI-UFRJ), website onde elas estão disponibilizadas para download. Dado o alinhamento à BNCC e análise de dados do Enem e Saeb, definiu-se o público-alvo e tema, com as suas habilidades associadas. Em seguida, as simulações foram construídas em duas fases: design e desenvolvimento; incluindo as etapas de ideação, prototipação de baixa fidelidade até a codificação. As ferramentas Unity, Figma e Blender foram as mais utilizadas. Como primeiro passo no processo de validação dessas simulações, educadores do ensino básico de matemática e biologia elaboraram planos de aula fazendo uso das mesmas. Com estes documentos, conclui-se que as SCs criadas são aplicáveis para o ensino dos temas propostos por elas e que os professores acreditam que elas poderiam facilitar o desenvolvimento de algumas das habilidades da BNCC. Contudo, ainda é necessário aplicar as simulações nas escolas visando observar uma aprendizagem efetiva por parte dos alunos, de forma a obter uma validação mais completa dos softwares produzidos

Plano de Logística Sustentável – PLS: Um estudo comparativo em Universidades Federais da Região Metropolitana de São Paulo

Desde a Convenção Internacional Rio+20 (2012), o Brasil avançou em termos de desenvolvimento sustentável, publicando o Decreto Federal n° 7.746/2012, que determina a implementação de um Plano de Logística Sustentável (PLS) em órgãos públicos federais. Nesse contexto enquadram-se as Universidades Federais. Assim, nesta pesquisa objetivou-se analisar e comparar os PLS de Universidades Federais na Região Metropolitana de São Paulo (RMSP): da Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC) e da Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), evidenciando semelhanças e diferenças entre eles. Utilizou-se, estudo de cunho qualitativo e exploratório, com pesquisa documental, consubstanciada por entrevistas com pessoasdiretamente envolvidas na elaboração dosrespectivosplanos. Os dados foram analisados sob a ótica da análise de conteúdo. Os resultados permitem concluir que, apesar de a base normativa ser única quanto ao direcionamento construtivo do PLS, os referidos Institutos de Ensino Superior - IES adotaram formas distintas na orientação, estruturação e composição de esforços para a consecução do referido Plano.

Association of the Occurrence of Ant Species (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) with Soil Attributes, Vegetation, and Climate in the Brazilian Savanna Northeastern Region

Ants occur in all strata of tropical forest by nesting, foraging and interacting with plants and other resident in these habitats. It is know that a large number of ant species live in the leaflitter and soil. This study aim to know if the occurrence of the species of ants from Cerrado of the Northeastern State of Maranhão depends on the attributes of soils and climatic factors. We found 48 species of ants, and ten of them had highest importance value, and are correlated with the soil properties, litter biomass, basal area, humidity and temperature, by using principal component analysis (PCA). The soil properties (density, porosity, particle size, aggregate stability index, and levels of Mg2+, Ca2+, carbon and potential acidity); vegetation (basal area and dry mass of litter) and temperature and humidity at soil level affect the occurrence of the following ants species Camponotus comatulus Mackay, 2010, Ectatomma muticum Mayr, 1870, Pseudomyrmex boopis (Roger, 1863), Pseudomyrmex termitarius (Smith, 1855), Dinoponera gigantea (Peerty, 1833), Ochetomyrmex neopolitus Fernández, 2003, Crematogaster cf acuta, Pheidole casta Wheeler, 1908, Solenopsis bruesi Creighton, 1930 and Solenopsis. O estudo das representações e imagens envolvidas nas campanhas publicitárias é, cada dia mais, um recorrente recurso dos gestores mercadológicos. Dessa forma, compreender e analisar as companhas publicitárias e sua semiótica se faz importante fonte de pesquisa. Nesse contexto surge o seguinte problema de pesquisa: analisar a semiótica das propagandas de varejos supermercadistas nacionais através da constituição de um quadrado semiótico. Foram investigadas as propagandas das maiores marcas de varejo supermercadista no Brasil, pelas variáveis preço, produto e pessoas. E assim, foi constituído o quadrado semiótico para a propaganda dos varejos supermercadistas no Brasil

A Sustainability Analysis of Different Types of Asphalts

The present work aimed to analyze ecological asphalts, aiming at their influence on the tripod of sustainability in the social, environmental and economic spheres. The option of using eco-rubber asphalt and EVA as a raw material for paving roads and highways is a bet for a more resistant material that requires less nature degradation and easier maintenance. One of the main reasons for the degradation of flexible pavement is the wear caused by the time of use, as well as the traffic of vehicles carrying excessive loads. This study reports some alternatives to multiply the improvement of reverse logistics of waste tires and EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) plastics, facing problems related to environmental impacts, which directly affect the Brazilian population. This project is important because it is directly linked to sustainability and the development of the environment, facing renewable and suitable alternatives to be employed, such as ecological asphalts, and their benefits. Among the benefits of ecological asphalt we can mention the contribution to the environment by reducing the amount of waste tires improperly discarded in nature and the durability of ecological asphalt compared to conventional asphalt where it showed greater resistance to climate fatigue. The research used the qualitative method being a study based on bibliographies, analyze and discuss the reuse of solid waste and the mitigation of environmental impacts through asphalt. Ecological asphalt seems to be more expensive than the bituminous asphalt used today, however it is environmentally friendly and its effectiveness, durability and safety are noticeable advantages
