Multitemporal Thermal Imagery Acquisition and Data Processing on Historical Masonry: Experimental Application on a Case Study
The recent improvement of infrared image quality has increased the use of thermography as a non-destructive diagnostic technique. Amongst other applications, thermography can be used to monitor historic buildings. The present work was carried out within the framework of the Horizon 2020 European project SHELTER, which aims to create a management plan for cultural heritage subject to environmental and anthropogenic risk. Among the chosen case studies is the Santa Croce Complex in Ravenna (Italy), which is exposed to different hazards, including flooding. The church has a peculiar architecture that develops below the street level, so the internal walls are affected by the deterioration caused by rising humidity. In such a case of advanced degradation, passive thermography cannot be used to its full potential. For this reason, an innovative methodology involving active thermography was first developed and validated with laboratory tests. Secondly, we conducted its first application to a real case study. With this purpose, an active thermography survey with forced ventilation was carried out to enhance different stages of material degradation by means of automatic classification of multitemporal data. These experiments have resulted in a method using an active thermal survey in a high moisture content environment to detect masonry degradation
Don’t call It smart: working from home during the pandemic crisis
The recent COVID-19 pandemic and related social distancing measures have significantly changed worldwide employment conditions. In developed economies, institutions and organizations, both public and private, are called upon to reflect on new organizational models of work and human resource management, which - in fact - should offer workers sufficient flexibility in adapting their work schedules remotely to their personal (and family) needs. This study aims to explore, within a Job Demands-Resources framework, whether and to what extent job demands (workload and social isolation), organizational job resources (perceived organizational support), and personal resources (self-efficacy, vision about the future and commitment to organizational change) have affected workers’ quality of life during the pandemic, taking into account the potential mediating role of job satisfaction and perceived stress. Using data from a sample of 293 workers, we estimate measurement and structural models, according to the Item Response Theory and the Path analysis frameworks, which allow us to operationalize the latent traits and study the complex structure of relationships between the latent dimensions. We inserted in the model as control variables, the socio-economic and demographic characteristics of the respondents, with particular emphasis on gender differences and the presence and age of children. The study offers insights into the relationship between remote work and quality of life, and the need to rethink human resource management policies considering the opportunities and critical issues highlighted by working full-time remotely
THE COMPLEX OF SANTA CROCE IN RAVENNA AS A CASE STUDY: INTEGRATION OF 3D TECHNIQUES FOR SURVEYING AND MONITORING OF A HISTORICAL SITE
Over the last decades, climate change has brought more and more challenges to managers of cultural heritage and researchers. The increasing effects of natural hazards on assets have required the development of a new protocol of techniques and methodologies for the monitoring of Cultural Heritage and the adoption of management plans adapted to the new challenges at every stage of risk management. The work here presented aims at providing an insight of the work undertaken under the framework of the H2020 SHELTER project, to showcase the first steps of the multi-disciplinary research conducted in one of the project’s case studies, the complex of Santa Croce in Ravenna, Italy. The paper provides the presentation of the case study and the description of the surveying activities with some first results, to provide a preliminary assessment of the site criticalities to be addressed in the future activities in the area, in line with the EU project expected outcomes

Tratamientos preventivos con extracto de Melaleuca alternifolia para reducir la incidencia de podredumbre morena en la poscosecha de duraznos. Póster
Las podredumbres causadas por Monilinia fructicola (PM) y Rhizopus spp. (RHI) causan pérdidas de calidad en la poscosecha de duraznos en la zona de San Pedro, provincia de Buenos Aires. Es necesario reducir el uso de fungicidas de síntesis química para controlar estas enfermedades en los montes frutales. Evaluación de aplicaciones preventivas con fosfitos de calcio y potasio para el control de podredumbre morena en duraznos. Póster
La podredumbre morena causada por Monilinia fructicola (PM) causa pérdidas de calidad en la poscosecha de duraznos. El uso de fosfitos de potasio y calcio ha suscitado interés por su potencial efecto en la activación de mecanismos de resistencia en el hospedante. Evaluación de parámetros de rendimiento y sanidad de dos híbridos comerciales de tomate (Solanum lycopersicum L.) injertados sobre Solanum sisymbriifolium (Lam.), en un invernadero con suelo biosolarizado
El uso de plantas injertadas sobre portainjertos resistentes contribuye a disminuir el daño causado por factores adversos de origen biótico y abiótico. Se evaluó la utilidad de Solanum sisymbriifolium Lam. (conocido comúnmente como “tutiá”) como portainjerto en combinación con híbridos comerciales de tomate. Los genotipos evaluados fueron Elpida y Superman injertados sobre “tutiá” (ELPi, SUPi) y los mismos materiales sin injertar (ELP, SUP). El trasplante se realizó en un invernadero (agosto/2012), sobre parcelas donde se habían aplicado tratamientos de biosolarización (noviembre/2011) y parcelas testigo sin desinfección del suelo. Se utilizó un diseño en parcela dividida con cuatro repeticiones distribuidas en bloques. ELP y SUP presentaron mayores rendimientos en kg·planta-1 (30,6 % en promedio general), que ELPi y SUPi. En el testigo sin biosolarizar, las plantas injertadas aventajaron al resto, con medias de ELPi = 4,53 ± 1,27, SUPi = 4,19 ± 1,49, SUP = 2,49 ± 0,28 y ELP = 1,89 ± 0,68. Las plantas injertadas además presentaron menores porcentajes de podredumbre
apical (P < 0,01) y plantas muertas (PM) al final del cico de cultivo (P < 0,01) que las plantas sin injertar, con medias para PM de SUPi = 18,80 ± 12,40, ELPi = 23,44 ± 7,55, SUP = 43,19 ± 9,64 y ELP = 46,00 ± 9,12. Al final del cultivo se encontró mayor peso seco de raíces (P < 0,05) y menos podredumbres radiculares (P < 0,01) a causa de Fusarium spp. en las plantas injertadas; aunque el número de agallas causadas por Nacobbus aberrans no varió. El uso de Solanum sisymbriifolium como pie de injerto podría ser considerado dentro del manejo integrado de plagas en tomate.EEA San PedroFil: Mitidieri, Mariel Silvina. Acute Delta Hepatitis in Italy spanning three decades (1991–2019): Evidence for the effectiveness of the hepatitis B vaccination campaign
Updated incidence data of acute Delta virus hepatitis (HDV) are lacking worldwide. Our aim was to evaluate incidence of and risk factors for acute HDV in Italy after the introduction of the compulsory vaccination against hepatitis B virus (HBV) in 1991. Data were obtained from the National Surveillance System of acute viral hepatitis (SEIEVA). Independent predictors of HDV were assessed by logistic-regression analysis. The incidence of acute HDV per 1-million population declined from 3.2 cases in 1987 to 0.04 in 2019, parallel to that of acute HBV per 100,000 from 10.0 to 0.39 cases during the same period. The median age of cases increased from 27 years in the decade 1991-1999 to 44 years in the decade 2010-2019 (p < .001). Over the same period, the male/female ratio decreased from 3.8 to 2.1, the proportion of coinfections increased from 55% to 75% (p = .003) and that of HBsAg positive acute hepatitis tested for by IgM anti-HDV linearly decreased from 50.1% to 34.1% (p < .001). People born abroad accounted for 24.6% of cases in 2004-2010 and 32.1% in 2011-2019. In the period 2010-2019, risky sexual behaviour (O.R. 4.2; 95%CI: 1.4-12.8) was the sole independent predictor of acute HDV; conversely intravenous drug use was no longer associated (O.R. 1.25; 95%CI: 0.15-10.22) with this. In conclusion, HBV vaccination was an effective measure to control acute HDV. Intravenous drug use is no longer an efficient mode of HDV spread. Testing for IgM-anti HDV is a grey area requiring alert. Acute HDV in foreigners should be monitored in the years to come
