This Cost Manual is intended to cover the following three features of Factory Cost Accounting: 1. Standards of Efficiency. To establish standards of efficiency representing the best possible results obtainable in each individual factory. To provide a system by which a comparison may be made between the best possible results obtainable in the individual factory and the results actually being obtained. 2. Cost of Production. To maintain and secure records of cost of Raw Materials, Labor, Packages, Packing and Expenses and methods of cost figuring which will result in knowledge of a safe and accurate cost of producing, packing and handling each individual piece of goods. 3. Stimulating Profits. To devise ways and means of stimulating the sale of profitable goods

Leonard H. Conant

Although he has not passed the meridian of life, Mr. Leonard H. Conant has established a reputation in the profession which distinguishes him as one of the prominent and successful accountants of this city. He was born in Washington, D. C., on April 25, 1856, and is a son of J. Edwin Conant, who was associated with J. Condit Smith in the construction of the Chicago and Atlantic Railway, now known as the Chicago & Erie road. Under the firm name of Conant & Smith they conducted important operations and were recognized as extensive railroad builders

New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, was incorporated on January 28th of the present year, with 17 charter members, five of whom were the incorporators. Since its incorporation, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants has received a steady accession of desirable members to its ranks, and is constantly growing in numbers and influence. The application of any person desirous of becoming a member must be approved in writing by a majority of the committee on admissions, and such person may then be admitted by a majority vote of the Board of Directors at any meeting
