    A field study was carried out to identify the suitable tree species for agrolorcstry systemsbased on their biomass production. N yield and Nrfixing capacity at the ExportAgriculture Research Station. Matalc for a period of 9 months. I'N isotope dilutionmethod was used for the assessment or the proportion of N2 derived through fixation (Pfix).Gl iricidi« spiurn (g+iric idia). Calliandra calothvrsus (calliandru). Lcucacna leucoccpha!a(lcucacna). Ervthrina suhumhrancc (Erythrina). Albizia [alraturi« (Albicia) and AI'(/Iiamangium (acacia) were used as N2-fixing species and SCIII/a siamea (siamca), SCI/I/aspettabilis (Spcctnhilis). both are non-nodulating legumes. and Michaella chantpaca(michalia) were used as non Ny-fixing reference species.Total dry matter yield of non Ns-Iixing reference crop spcctabilis was significantly (pO.05)higher than all the species. Among the fixing species. Calliandra produced the highestbiomass though the value is not significantly (p~O.O.'i) different from gliricidia, lcucacnaand siamca. Acacia and michaclia recorded the lowest yields.Highest leaf. twigs and root NIl,) was found in crythrina and the highest trunk N% wasassociated with gliricidia. Leaf NIYr,of spcctahilis was less than that of gliricidin andcrythrinu but total N yield of spcctabilis was the highest due to high biomass production.Among the six fixing species highest N yield was found with calliandra and the value isover two fold higher than that for gliricidia. Acacia and michaclia recorded the lowest nyields.Highest Pfix values for whole plant was found with alhizia followed by g liricidia,cnlliandra. crythrina, lcuccana and acacia. The trend is common for the values based onall the three reference crops. Total Ns-fix iug capacity 01" calliandra recorded the highestvalue followed by lcucacnn, gliricidia, albizia. crythrina, and acacia. Ny-Iixing valuescalculated based on siamea and spcctabilis revealed N-fixing species calliandra, lcucacnaand gliricidia have thc capacity to fix 19.51-23.11. 15.77-19.79 and 13.IO-l4.42g Nplant I. The values equivalent to 1<)5-231. 15X-19X and 13l-l44kg of N ha').S. spcctabilis. C calothyrsus, L. leucocephala and G. sepium produced higher biomassand higher N yields over the others. Total N fixing capacity of C calothvrsus. L.leucoccphal« and G. septum were superior to the other species. However, wheremaintenance of soil N status is considered further studies arc recommended to evaluate thelitter quality and N transferring ability before a firm recommendation is made.

    The KMOS^3D Survey: design, first results, and the evolution of galaxy kinematics from 0.7<z<2.7

    We present the KMOS^3D survey, a new integral field survey of over 600 galaxies at 0.7<z<2.7 using KMOS at the Very Large Telescope (VLT). The KMOS^3D survey utilizes synergies with multi-wavelength ground and space-based surveys to trace the evolution of spatially-resolved kinematics and star formation from a homogeneous sample over 5 Gyrs of cosmic history. Targets, drawn from a mass-selected parent sample from the 3D-HST survey, cover the star formation-stellar mass (MM_*) and rest-frame (UV)M(U-V)-M_* planes uniformly. We describe the selection of targets, the observations, and the data reduction. In the first year of data we detect Halpha emission in 191 M=3×1097×1011M_*=3\times10^{9}-7\times10^{11} Msun galaxies at z=0.7-1.1 and z=1.9-2.7. In the current sample 83% of the resolved galaxies are rotation-dominated, determined from a continuous velocity gradient and vrot/σ>1v_{rot}/\sigma>1, implying that the star-forming 'main sequence' (MS) is primarily composed of rotating galaxies at both redshift regimes. When considering additional stricter criteria, the Halpha kinematic maps indicate at least ~70% of the resolved galaxies are disk-like systems. Our high-quality KMOS data confirm the elevated velocity dispersions reported in previous IFS studies at z>0.7. For rotation-dominated disks, the average intrinsic velocity dispersion decreases by a factor of two from 50 km/s at z~2.3 to 25 km/s at z~0.9 while the rotational velocities at the two redshifts are comparable. Combined with existing results spanning z~0-3, disk velocity dispersions follow an approximate (1+z) evolution that is consistent with the dependence of velocity dispersion on gas fractions predicted by marginally-stable disk theory.Comment: 20 pages, 11 figures, 1 Appendix; Accepted to ApJ November 2

    Atorvastatin-Diltiazem Combination Induced Rhabdomyolysis Leading to Diagnosis of Hypothyroidism

    Statins and hypothyroidism, independently, can rarely cause rhabdomyolysis. The combination of them especially with concurrent intake of drugs such as diltiazem increases the risk of rhabdomyolysis. Hashimoto’s encephalopathy is a rare condition associated with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and some patients with that can present with a stroke like picture. An elderly male who has been on atorvastatin for three years and on diltiazem for a week presented with sudden onset inability to walk and confusion. On examination muscle tenderness was noticed and creatine kinase levels indicated rhabdomyolysis which we attributed to atorvastatin. Patient developed a seizure and myoclonus of masseters. Considering this, his confusion and his neutrophilia and high C-reactive protein levels, empirical antibiotics with dexamethasone were started and the patient responded to that. His cerebrospinal fluid and blood culture reports that arrived later did not show sepsis. After going home also his CK (creatine kinase) levels remained high; TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) level test was done and hypothyroidism was diagnosed. His antithyroid peroxidase antibody levels were also very high. We retrospectively think he had Hashimoto’s encephalopathy as well. His lipid profile and TSH and CK values returned to normal in that order after a few months of levothyroxine therapy

    Systematic study of charged-pion and kaon femtoscopy in Au++Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200 GeV

    We present a systematic study of charged pion and kaon interferometry in Au++Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200 GeV. The kaon mean source radii are found to be larger than pion radii in the outward and longitudinal directions for the same transverse mass; this difference increases for more central collisions. The azimuthal-angle dependence of the radii was measured with respect to the second-order event plane and similar oscillations of the source radii were found for pions and kaons. Hydrodynamic models qualitatively describe the similar oscillations of the mean source radii for pions and kaons, but they do not fully describe the transverse-mass dependence of the oscillations.Comment: 499 authors, 27 pages, 13 figures, and 11 tables. v2 is the version accepted for publication in Phys.     ϕ\phi meson production in dd++Au collisions at sNN=200\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200 GeV

    The PHENIX experiment has measured ϕ\phi meson production in dd++Au collisions at sNN=200\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200 GeV using the dimuon and dielectron decay channels. The ϕ\phi meson is measured in the forward (backward) dd-going (Au-going) direction, 1.2<y<2.21.2<y<2.2 (2.2<y<1.2-2.2<y<-1.2) in the transverse-momentum (pTp_T) range from 1--7 GeV/cc, and at midrapidity y<0.35|y|<0.35 in the pTp_T range below 7 GeV/cc. The ϕ\phi meson invariant yields and nuclear-modification factors as a function of pTp_T, rapidity, and centrality are reported. An enhancement of ϕ\phi meson production is observed in the Au-going direction, while suppression is seen in the dd-going direction, and no modification is observed at midrapidity relative to the yield in pp++pp collisions scaled by the number of binary collisions.     Cross Section and Transverse Single-Spin Asymmetry of η\eta Mesons in p+pp^{\uparrow}+p Collisions at s=200\sqrt{s}=200 GeV at Forward Rapidity

    We present a measurement of the cross section and transverse single-spin asymmetry (ANA_N) for η\eta mesons at large pseudorapidity from s=200\sqrt{s}=200~GeV p+pp^{\uparrow}+p collisions. The measured cross section for 0.5<pT<5.00.5<p_T<5.0~GeV/cc and 3.0<η<3.83.0<|\eta|<3.8 is well described by a next-to-leading-order perturbative-quantum-chromodynamics calculation. The asymmetries ANA_N have been measured as a function of Feynman-xx (xFx_F) from 0.2<xF<0.70.2<|x_{F}|<0.7, as well as transverse momentum (pTp_T) from 1.0<pT<4.51.0<p_T<4.5~GeV/cc. The asymmetry averaged over positive xFx_F is AN=0.061±0.014\langle{A_{N}}\rangle=0.061{\pm}0.014. The results are consistent with prior transverse single-spin measurements of forward η\eta and π0\pi^{0} mesons at various energies in overlapping xFx_F ranges.
