Predicting Organizational Citizenship Behavior from The Functional Analysis and Role Identity Perspectives: Further Evidence in Spanish Employees

    No full text
Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) is a prosocial activity with similarities to volunteerism. The purpose of this work is to contribute new evidence about the relevance to OCB of two models of sustained volunteerism, functional analysis and role identity theory. A total of 983 Spanish employees at 49 organizations completed surveys measuring amount of OCB, motives for engaging in citizenship behavior, and the degree to which respondents developed an organizational citizen role identity. The results showed that both motives and role identity were significant predictors of OCB, with motive partially mediating the role identity-OCB relationship. The findings suggest that similar mechanisms are involved in sustaining volunteerism and OCB

Effectiveness of Increasing Liquidity as a Response to Increased Repayment Risk: A Case Study

Volatile net farm incomes and potential for higher interest rates has strengthened the importance of managing liquidity. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of increasing liquidity levels as a means of reducing repayment risk for agricultural firms. Using a base case farming operation and three interest rate scenarios, eight potential changes in the operating situation, and two leverage levels, it was found increasing the level of liquidity was an effective means of reducing repayment risk. The management practice was found to be more effective for offsetting the adverse effects of increasing interest rates and operating expenses than for decreasing gross farm revenue and increasing leverage levels

Impact of Lower, More Volatile Net Farm Incomes, and Higher Interest Rates on Repayment Risk

Real returns to farm operators have been at the highest level since 1973. However, indications from the USDA and Federal Open Market Committee are that returns are not projected to remain at those levels and interest rates will rise in the next decade. This paper evaluates the potential impact on repayment risk of three interest rates, three levels of leverage, and eight deviations from a base situation. Results indicate as the level of leverage and interest rate increased, the business became more susceptible to repayment risk, but even at moderate interest rates, increasing levels of leverage should be viewed with caution. 'The Poop it Kit'; addressing a real world problem through research and innovation

    No full text
Introduction/background: Constipation affects up to 30% of children in Australia and the western world. Children need an understanding of healthy bowel functioning. Nurses play an important role in the delivery of health education and to address a target audience of children means being innovative. ‘The Poop it Kit’ is one such strategy. Aim/objectives: This study aimed to create, implement and evaluate an innovative educational tool kit for children relating to healthy bowel functioning. Methods Undergraduate nursing students and parents/ caregivers were recruited to provide feedback about their experience with ‘The Poop it Kit’. This qualitative data would then be analysed using a thematic analysis approach. Results: Key themes surrounding the design, innovation and end user response would serve as valuable findings necessary for the enhancement and wider dissemination of the ‘Poop it Kit’. Discussion In 2019 a team of nursing academics together with undergraduate nursing students designed and implemented ‘The Poop it Kit’. This resource, aimed at children from 4- 8 years of age, would include fun and innovative activities that would allow children to become interested in their own healthy bowel functioning. In the process, undergraduate nursing students would learn about health promotion and gain an understanding of ways to address and engage children. Conclusions: Academics and nursing students came together with a research project that would encompass innovation, creativity and collaboration. The ‘Poop it Kit’ would result in a deliverable product that upon dissemination would prove to have real impact
