    Crustal structure across the Dabieā€“Sulu orogenic belt revealed by seismic velocity profiles

    The Tan-Lu fault (TLF) separates the Dabie and Sulu orogenic belts, well known for their ultra high pressure (UHP) metamorphic rocks in eastern China. We reinterpret one of the wide-angle seismic profiles traversing the TLF using traveltime tomography methods, and compare the results with the interpretation of three other seismic profiles across the TLF, to enable us to study the relationship of the five tectonic units comprising the North China plate (NCP), the Yangtze plate (YTZP), the TLF, the Dabieā€“Sulu orogenic belt (DSOB), and the ultra-high pressure metamorphic belt (UHPMB) that is exposed within the DSOB. The results demonstrate that there is strong lateral heterogeneity within the studied area. The TLF's penetrating depth deepens along a Sā€“N direction. In the central section of the fault, the TLF can be traced to the middle crust but in the northern section it penetrates to the Moho. The average P-wave velocity in the UHPMB and DSOB is 0.1ā€“0.4 km s-1 faster than that of the YTZP, NCP and TLF for upper crusts with depths 13 km. The bottom borders of the middle and lower crusts of the UHPMB and DSOB are apparently deeper than the other three tectonic units, and the Moho beneath UHPMB around Dabieshan may be deeper than 40 km. The general similarities of the crustal velocity structures between the Dabie and Sulu UHPMB may suggest a similar exhuming mechanism of UHP metamorphic rocks, before the large-scale TLF strike slip, driven by the subduction of the Yangtze block.     Rivaroxaban Versus Dabigatran or Warfarin in Real-World Studies of Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation

    Background and Purposeā€” This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of rivaroxaban in real-world practice compared with effectiveness and safety of dabigatran or warfarin for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation through meta-analyzing observational studies. Methodsā€” Seventeen studies were included after searching in PubMed for studies reporting the comparative effectiveness and safety of rivaroxaban versus dabigatran (n=3), rivaroxaban versus Warfarin (n=11), or both (n=3) for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation. Resultsā€” Overall, the risks of stroke/systematic thromboembolism with rivaroxaban were similar when compared with those with dabigatran (stroke/thromboembolism: hazard ratio, 1.02; 95% confidence interval, 0.91ā€“1.13; I2=70.2%, N=5), but were significantly reduced when compared with those with warfarin (hazard ratio, 0.75; 95% confidence interval, 0.64ā€“0.85; I2=45.1%, N=9). Major bleeding risk was significantly higher with rivaroxaban than with dabigatran (hazard ratio, 1.38; 95% confidence interval, 1.27ā€“1.49; I2=26.1%, N=5), but similar to that with warfarin (hazard ratio, 0.99; 95% confidence interval, 0.91ā€“1.07; I2=0.0%, N=6). Rivaroxaban was associated with increased all-cause mortality and gastrointestinal bleeding, but similar risk of acute myocardial infarction and intracranial hemorrhage when compared with dabigatran. When compared with warfarin, rivaroxaban was associated with similar risk of any bleeding, mortality, and acute myocardial infarction, but a higher risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and lower risk of intracranial hemorrhage. Conclusionsā€” In this systematic review and meta-analysis, rivaroxaban was as effective as dabigatran, but was more effective than warfarin for the prevention of stroke/thromboembolism in atrial fibrillation patients. Major bleeding risk was significantly higher with rivaroxaban than with dabigatran, as was all-cause mortality and gastrointestinal bleeding. Rivaroxaban was comparable to warfarin for major bleeding, with an increased risk in gastrointestinal bleeding and decreased risk of intracranial hemorrhage

    Overcoming myelosuppression due to synthetic lethal toxicity for FLT3-targeted acute myeloid leukemia therapy

    Activating mutations in FLT3 confer poor prognosis for individuals with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Clinically active investigational FLT3 inhibitors can achieve complete remissions but their utility has been hampered by acquired resistance and myelosuppression attributed to a 'synthetic lethal toxicity' arising from simultaneous inhibition of FLT3 and KIT. We report a novel chemical strategy for selective FLT3 inhibition while avoiding KIT inhibition with the staurosporine analog, Star 27. Star 27 maintains potency against FLT3 in proliferation assays of FLT3-transformed cells compared with KIT-transformed cells, shows no toxicity towards normal human hematopoiesis at concentrations that inhibit primary FLT3-mutant AML blast growth, and is active against mutations that confer resistance to clinical inhibitors. As a more complete understanding of kinase networks emerges, it may be possible to define anti-targets such as KIT in the case of AML to allow improved kinase inhibitor design of clinical agents with enhanced efficacy and reduced toxicity.published_or_final_versio

Then, a numerical approach of sensitivity analysis is adopted to quantify their corresponding dominance degree among the similarity parameters.     Prevalence and Impact of Arrhythmia on Outcomes in Restrictive Cardiomyopathy-A Report from the Beijing Municipal Health Commission Information Center (BMHCIC) Database

    BackgroundData on the outcomes of restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) are limited, when the condition is complicated with arrhythmia. This study was designed to investigate the prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF), ventricular tachycardia (VT) and bradycardia (BC) and their impact on adverse outcomes (intra-cardiac thrombus, stroke and systematic embolism [SSE], heart failure and death) of RCM.Methods and resultsThe retrospective cohort study used data collected from the Beijing Municipal Health Commission Information Center (BMHCIC) database from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2020. There were 745 (64.9%) patients with AF, 117 (10.2%) patients with VT and 311 (27.1%) patients with bradycardia. The presence of AF was associated with an increased risk of SSE (adjusted HR:1.37, 95%CI:1.02-1.83, p = 0.04) and heart failure (aHR:1.36, 95%CI:1.17-1.58, p p = 0.002) and death (aHR:2.07, 95%CI:1.19-3.59, p = 0.01). Bradycardia did not increase the adverse outcomes in RCM. The results remained consistent and steady when AF, VT and bradycardia were adjusted as competing factors.ConclusionsCardiac arrhythmia are highly prevalent and associated with adverse outcomes in patients with RCM. AF and VT are more likely to be associated with intracardiac thrombosis, and the presence of AF increased the risk of SSE and HF. The presence of VT increased the risk of death

    Room temperature continuousā€“wave green lasing from an InGaN microdisk on silicon

    Optically pumped green lasing with an ultra low threshold has been achieved using an InGaN/GaN based micro-disk with an undercut structure on silicon substrates. The micro-disks with a diameter of around 1ā€…Ī¼m were fabricated by means of a combination of a cost-effective silica micro-sphere approach, dry-etching and subsequent chemical etching. The combination of these techniques both minimises the roughness of the sidewalls of the micro-disks and also produces excellent circular geometry. Utilizing this fabrication process, lasing has been achieved at room temperature under optical pumping from a continuous-wave laser diode. The threshold for lasing is as low as 1ā€…kW/cm2. Timeā€“resolved micro photoluminescence (PL) and confocal PL measurements have been performed in order to further confirm the lasing action in whispering gallery modes and also investigate the excitonic recombination dynamics of the lasing

    Molecular structure of the largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) Myf5 gene and its effect on skeletal muscle growth

    Myogenic Regulatory Factors (MRFs), a family of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors, play important roles in regulating skeletal muscle development and growth. Myf5, the primary factor of MRFs, initiates myogenesis. Its expression pattern during somitomyogenesis in some fish has been revealed. To further study its effect on fish muscle during postembryonic growth, characterization and function analysis of myf5 cDNA were carried out in largemouth bass. The 1,093Ā bp cDNA sequence was identified by RT-PCR and 3ā€²RACE, then the ORF of Myf5 cDNA was cloned into the expression vector pcDNA3.1(āˆ’)/mycHisB. The recombinant plasmid pcDNA3.1(āˆ’)/mycHisB-Myf5 was injected into the dorsal muscle of tilapias. RT-PCR and histochemical results showed that the exogenous gene was transcribed and translated inĀ vivo. Its effect on muscle growth focused on myofiber hypertrophy in white muscle 60Ā days post injection. This indicated that overexpression of Myf5 can promote myogenesis during the fish muscle postembryonic growth period
