On the Development of Emotional Intelligence: Two-Wave Study on Early Adolescents
This study focuses on the developmental changes in emotional intelligence (EI) abilities during early adolescence. During class hours, 561 students in the first wave (Mage = 12.32, SDage = 1.22, 54.5% of boys) and 369 students in the second wave (M = 13.40; SD = 0.98, 52.3% of boys) completed Perception of Affective Content in Art Test, Analysis of Emotions Test, Emotion Management Test and rated their peersā EI at two waves, 18 months apart. They also completed a Mill Hill Vocabulary Scale within the first wave. Studentsā EI was also rated by their home room teacher and one teacher who completed Teacher Ratings of EI Questionnaire specifically designed for this study. Results showed that girls and older students scored higher on EI tests and peersā ratings. Oldest students achieved the lowest scores on teacher ratings. The longitudinal analysis confirmed positive changes between the first and the second wave. Results of both the crosssectional and two waves analysis revealed significant effects of gender and general cognitive ability, measured with vocabulary test, on EI measures
Uloga zdravstvenih djelatnika radiologije u komunikaciji sa pacijentom
U danaÅ”nje vrijeme komunikacija se smatra jednom od temeljnih ljudskih vjeÅ”tina. Komunikacijom prenosimo informacije, izražavamo Äitavu lepezu emocija, tjelesnih i psiholoÅ”kih. Ona je neizbježna i dio je naÅ”e svakodnevice. Podrazumijeva se da dolazi prirodno i spontano kroz život, te možemo zakljuÄiti da je nezamislivo ne komunicirati. Äovjek ima uroÄenu potrebu stvarati meÄuljudske odnose i održavati veze. Kako je moguÄe da se u danaÅ”nje vrijeme tolika pozornost posveÄuje ovakvoj temi? Iako je komunikacija vjeÅ”tina koja se uÄi kroz cijeli život, ipak je ona neÅ”to Å”to zapoÄinje joÅ” u najranijoj dobi, u krugu obitelji. Temeljna je vjeÅ”tina koju Äovjek posjeduje, o kojoj se toliko govori, a upravo se Äovjeka danas sve viÅ”e zaboravlja. Smatra se kako je komunikacija izmeÄu bolesnika i zdravstvenih djelatnika emocionalno najzahtjevniji posao. Najranjivijoj i najosjetljivijoj skupini ljudi neophodna je zdravstvena skrb. Upravo zbog toga je to kompleksan posao koji zahtijeva iskustvo, znanje, umijeÄe i odreÄene kompetencije zdravstvenih djelatnika. U vrijeme kad tehnologija doseže svoj vrhunac nezamislivo je adekvatno provoditi zdravstvenu skrb bez odreÄene radioloÅ”ke dijagnostike. Za uspjeÅ”an ishod lijeÄenja neophodna je kvalitetna komunikacija izmeÄu bolesnika i zdravstvenih djelatnika. Važno je pokazati suosjeÄanje i uputiti bolesniku rijeÄi ohrabrenja. Svaki bolestan Äovjek nije želio bolest i u takvom stanju potrebni su mu pažnja, ljudskost i korektan pristup okoline. Zato danas, uspostaviti ravnotežu izmeÄu tehnike i humanosti, odnosno ljudskog naÄina u ophoÄenju postaje pravi izazov

Motivation of Healthcare Professionals in Times of Crisis
Motivacija zaposlenika jedan je od kljuÄnih faktora uspjeÅ”nog poslovanja zdravstvenog sustava. U ovo krizno vrijeme, kada optereÄenje zdravstvenog sustava doseže svoj vrhunac, Äesto se postavlja pitanje kako motivirati zdravstvene djelatnike. Proces motivacije kompleksan je posao, a preduvjet za postizanje odreÄenog cilja predstavljaju zadovoljni djelatnici. Ne postoji strogo definirana formula po kojoj se mjeri motiviranost neke osobe. Svi posjedujemo unutarnju snagu koja nas pokreÄe, ali razlikujemo se po svojim ambicijama i vjeÅ”tinama. Važno je prepoznati darovitost svakog pojedinca i potaknuti ga na aktivnost. Stoga je uloga menadžera kljuÄna u procesu motivacije. S obzirom na tehnoloÅ”ki napredak, potrebe zaposlenika se razlikuju i mijenjaju s vremenom, te je potrebno koristiti razliÄite tehnike motiviranja. In this time of crisis, when the strain on healthcare system reaches its peak, the question of how to motivate healthcare professionals is often raised. The process of motivation is a complex job, and satisfied employees are the precondition for achieving the designated goal. There is no strictly defined formula for measuring a personās motivation. We all possess the inner strength that puts us in motion, but we differ regarding our ambitions and skills. It is important to recognize the talent of each individual and encourage them to act. Therefore, the role of manager is crucial in the motivation process. Due to technological progress, the needs of employees differ and change over time. It is therefore necessary to use different motivation techniques. Self-confidence of employees increases with the feeling of belonging and involvement in the planning process. By respecting abilities of each individual and by promoting, praising, and rewarding their effort, the quality of healthcare will not be lacking
Percipirana korporativna reputacija i ponos kao pokretaÄi svjesnosti kontaktnog osoblja o utjecaju reputacije: medijatorska uloga zadovoljstva s poslom
Purpose ā Service employees play a crucial role in creating and sustaining the reputation of service firms. Their attitudes and commitment to the firm are reflected in customersā perceptions of quality and loyalty, which ultimately improve corporate performance. The aim of this study is to better understand what contributes to raising frontline employeesā awareness of their role in building and sustaining the corporate reputation of service firms. Design/methodology/approach ā We adapt Helmās (2011) conceptual framework based on a work-related social identity theory and test the adapted model through an empirical study on 544 service firmsā frontline employees. Findings ā Our findings show that job satisfaction of frontline employees is a significant determinant of their reputation impact awareness, as well as a mediator of the effects that pride and perceived corporate reputation have on corporate reputation impact awareness. Limitations ā Possible existence of other dimensions of perceived corporate reputation, when it comes to internal stakeholders ā the employees, present a limitation of this study and should certainly be considered in future research. Originality/value ā We compare and contrast our fi ndings with previous studies and shed more light on internal marketing possibilities targeted towards frontline employees.Svrha ā Zaposlenici uslužnih poduzeÄa imaju kljuÄnu ulogu u stvaranju i održavanju reputacije poduzeÄa. Stavovi zaposlenih i njihova posveÄenost poduzeÄu odražavaju se u percepcijama korisnika o kvaliteti usluge i lojalnosti, Å”to u konaÄnici unapreÄuje performanse poduzeÄa. Svrha rada jest bolje razumjeti Å”to doprinosi podizanju svijesti kontaktnoga osoblja uslužnih poduzeÄa o njihovoj ulozi u izgradnji i održavanju korporativne reputacije. MetodoloÅ”ki pristup ā PrilagoÄen je konceptualni okvir koji je razvila Helm (2011), a koji je temeljen na teoriji druÅ”tvenog identiteta vezanoga uz posao. PrilagoÄeni je model empirijski testiran na uzorku 544 zaposlenika - kontaktne osobe iz uslužnih poduzeÄa. Rezultati i implikacije ā Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da je zadovoljstvo poslom kontaktnog osoblja znaÄajna odrednica njihove svjesnosti o utjecaju reputacije, kao i medijator uÄinaka koje ponos i percipirana korporativna reputacija imaju na svjesnost o utjecaju korporativne reputacije. OgraniÄenja ā OgraniÄenja istraživanja vezana su uz moguÄe postojanje drugih dimenzija percipirane korporativne reputacije kada su u pitanju interni dionici ā zaposlenici, Å”to je potrebno razmotriti u buduÄim istraživanjima. Influence of Kinematic Parameters on Result Efficiency in Javelin Throw
The aim of the research was to define the influence of the kinematic parameters in the javelin throw success in the top junior athletes at the European Junior Athletics Championships in Novi Sad. A set, consisting of 17 kinematic variables, was applied on a sample of 16 athletes, and the same variables were registered at the 2009 Novi Sad European Junior Championships. The criteria variable was the achieved throw length (javelin throw). The subjects were represented by 113 successful javelin throws. The results of the chosen kinematic variables correlation analysis showed the existence of multiple significant relations between the observed variables. Based on the observed kinematic variables correlation analysis, the next conclusion can be made: the javelin release speed has the most important role, followed by the fast front support leg placing. The results are expected and logical, and can be used in kinesiology practice, especially in the process of young throwers\u27 technique learning and in development of motor abilities relevant for this athletic discipline
KAKO POTRAGA ZA INOVACIJAMA OBLIKUJE ODNOS IZMEÄU PERCIPIRANE KORISNOSTI I STAVOVA PREMA MOBILNOM BANKARSTVU
In the banking sector, mobile banking is one in the most recent types of services introduced with an aim to retain customers. Trend of mobile banking development is strongly connected with the penetration of mobile devices in every-day life as well as with customersā behavior which is based on the transfer of activities from various spheres of their lives in virtual world. This study investigates how consumersā perceptions of mobile banking usefulness impacts the attitude towards mobile banking, conditioned by the level of novelty seeking expressed by that consumer. Based on services marketing and technology acceptance literature, we test these relationships on a sample of 581 mobile banking users. Results show that consumersā novelty seeking negatively moderates the positive relationship between perceived usefulness of the mobile banking and the attitude towards the mobile banking. Implications of the findings are considered, and the future research directions identified.U bankarskom sektoru, mobilno bankarstvo je jedna od najnovijih vrsta usluga uvedenih s ciljem zadržavanja klijenata. Trend razvoja mobilnog bankarstva snažno je povezan s prodiranjem mobilnih ureÄaja u svakodnevnom životu, kao is ponaÅ”anjem korisnika koje se temelji na prijenosu aktivnosti iz razliÄitih sfera njihovih života u virtualni svijetu. U radu se istražuje kako percepcija potroÅ”aÄa o korisnosti mobilnog bankarstva utjeÄe na stav prema mobilnom bankarstvu, uvjetovan razinom traženja novosti (inovacija) koju je taj potroÅ”aÄ izrazio. Sukladno marketingu usluga i literaturi o prihvaÄanju tehnologije testirani su ti odnose na uzorku od 581 korisnika mobilnog bankarstva. Rezultati pokazuju da traženje inovacija negativno ublažava pozitivan odnos izmeÄu percipirane korisnosti mobilnog bankarstva i odnosa prema mobilnom bankarstvu. THE STRESS OF WAR AND BREAST CANCER INCIDENCE
Approximately 94.000 persons were killed or disappeared and about 1.8 million people were forced to flee from their homes
during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, from April 1992 to December 1995. The Dayton Peace Agreement, signed on November
21, 1995, ended the war. Life and health conditions of the population in B&H characterized with severe disorders caused by severe
war and post-war traumatic events. The aim of this work is to establish the connection between breast cancer in women and stress
caused by traumatic experiences during the war in B&H. We performed this study of pairs at the Clinic for Oncology, University
Clinical Hospital Mostar, from November 2008 to March 2009. Two hundred women from Herzegovina region participated in this
research. The study group consisted of 100 women with diagnosed breast cancer. The control group consisted of 100 women without
breast cancer diagnosis, of the same age and living in the same area. We have found that women with breast cancer had statistically
considerably more war traumatic experiences and thus more stress than the women in control group (p=0.000). The following
conclusions are also noteworthy: 39% of women in the study group were under the ages of 50, when diagnosed breast cancer. Only
one woman got psychosocially care within breast cancer treatment. High middle age of physiological loss of period (ā„50), longer
fertile period, as well as the smoking habit are breast cancer risk factors statistically more present.
Women with breast cancer have experienced more stress due to significantly more war traumatic experiences, so that warrelated
stress considered a risk factor
Formation and Morphology of Struvite and Newberyite in Aqueous Solutions at 25 and 37 Ā°C
The influence of the initial reactant concentrations (ci(Mg)tot = 5.0 x 10ā6 to 5.0 x 10ā1 mol dmā3, ci(P)tot = ci(NH4)tot = 1.0 x 10ā3 to 5.0 x 10ā1 mol dmā3) and temperature (25 and 37 Ā°C) on the composition and morphology of the precipitates formed in the system MgCl2-NH4H2PO4-NaOH-H2O at initial pHi = 7.40 has been investigated. Precipitation diagrams are presented showing the concentration regions within which different morphologies of solid phase have been formed. The solid phases aged for 24 hours were characterized by means of optical microscopy, FT-IR spectrophotometry, X-ray diffractometry and thermogravimetry. It was found that struvite was a predominant phase formed within the concentration region examined and newberyite was obtained only in the region where pH24h < 6.5. The influence of the initial pH on the formation and transformation of these two compounds were studied in the region 5.0 pHi ā¤ 9.0 and the results
