Light-cone Gauge NSR Strings in Noncritical Dimensions
Light-cone gauge NSR string theory in noncritical dimensions should
correspond to a string theory with a nonstandard longitudinal part.
Supersymmetrizing the bosonic case [arXiv:0909.4675], we formulate a
superconformal worldsheet theory for the longitudinal variables X^{\pm},
\psi^{\pm}. We show that with the transverse variables and the ghosts combined,
it is possible to construct a nilpotent BRST charge.Comment: 22 pages, 1 figur
Visibility and aerosol measurement by diode-laser random-modulation CW lidar
Examples of diode laser (DL) random-modulation continuous wave (RM-CW) lidar measurements are reported. The ability of the measurement of the visibility, vertical aerosol profile, and the cloud ceiling height is demonstrated. Although the data shown here were all measured at night time, the daytime measurement is, of course, possible. For that purpose, accurate control of the laser frequency to the center frequency of a narrow band filter is required. Now a new system with a frequency control is under construction
Learning Behaviors of Stochastic Automata and Some Applications
It is known that stochastic automata can be applied to describe the behavior of a decision maker or manager in the condition of uncertainty. This paper discusses learning behaviors of stochastic automata under unknown nonstationary multi-teacher environment. The consistency of sequential decision making procedures is proved under some mild conditions
Monetary policy rule: A broad monetary conditions index for Nigeria
To determine the relative importance of both the domestic and external influences on monetary policy formulation, this paper constructs a broad monetary conditions index for Nigeria. It brings together the three key channels of monetary transmission, namely interest rate, exchange rate and credit channels. The result gives dominance to exchange rate channel, followed by credit channel and interest rate channel. The resultant monetary conditions index traces fairly well the policy direction of the Central Bank of Nigeria for the studied period, hence can serve as an adequate gauge of monetary policy stance of the Bank
D-brane States and Disk Amplitudes in OSp Invariant Closed String Field Theory
We construct solitonic states in the OSp invariant string field theory, which
are BRST invariant in the leading order of regularization parameter .
We calculate the disk amplitudes using these solitonic states and show that
they describe D-branes and ghost D-branes.Comment: 37 pages, 8 figure
Method for making conductors for ferrite memory arrays
The ferrite memory arrays are made from pre-formed metal conductors for the ferrite arrays. The conductors are made by forming a thin sheet of a metallizing paste of metal alloy powder, drying the paste layer, bisque firing the dried sheet at a first temperature, and then punching the conductors from the fired sheet. During the bisque firing, the conductor sheet shrinks to 58 percent of its pre-fired volume and the alloy particles sinter together. The conductors are embedded in ferrite sheet material and finally fired at a second higher temperature during which firing the conductors shrink approximately the same degree as the ferrite material
Determining the optimal monetary policy instrument for Nigeria
It is considered inapt for central banks to adjust reserve money (quantity of money) and interest rate (price of money) at the same time. Thus, necessitates the need for a choice instrument. Enough evidence abounds in microeconomic theory on the undesirability of manipulating both price and quantity simultaneously in a free market structure. The market, in line with the consensus among economists, either controls the price and allows quantity to be determined by market forces, or influence quantity, leaving prices in the hands of the forces of demand and supply. This paper is, therefore, an attempt to examine the optimal monetary policy instrument for Nigeria between 1981Q1 to 2013Q2 using a bounds testing approach to cointegration. The result indicates the superiority of monetary instrument, followed by combined instrument and then interest rate instrument. The study therefore suggests that the CBN should lay more emphasis on monetary instrument particularly if output growth or stability is the primary goal of monetary policy
Light-cone Gauge NSR Strings in Noncritical Dimensions II -- Ramond Sector
Light-cone gauge superstring theory in noncritical dimensions corresponds to
a worldsheet theory with nonstandard longitudinal part in the conformal gauge.
The longitudinal part of the worldsheet theory is a superconformal field theory
called X^{\pm} CFT. We show that the X^{\pm} CFT combined with the
super-reparametrization ghost system can be described by free variables. It is
possible to express the correlation functions in terms of these free variables.
Bosonizing the free variables, we construct the spin fields and BRST invariant
vertex operators for the Ramond sector in the conformal gauge formulation. By
using these vertex operators, we can rewrite the tree amplitudes of the
noncritical light-cone gauge string field theory, with external lines in the
(R,R) sector as well as those in the (NS,NS) sector, in a BRST invariant way.Comment: 33 pages; v2: minor modification
Using artificial intelligence techniques for strategy generation in the Commons game
In this paper, we consider the use of artificial intelligence techniques to aid in discovery of winning strategies for the Commons Game (CG). The game represents a common scenario in which multiple parties share the use of a self-replenishing resource. The resource deteriorates quickly if used indiscriminately. If used responsibly, however, the resource thrives. We consider the scenario one player uses hill climbing or particle swarm optimization to select the course of action, while the remaining N − 1 players use a fixed probability vector. We show that hill climbing and particle swarm optimization consistently generate winning strategies
