Pattern densities in fluid dimer models
In this paper, we introduce a family of observables for the dimer model on a
bi-periodic bipartite planar graph, called pattern density fields. We study the
scaling limit of these objects for liquid and gaseous Gibbs measures of the
dimer model, and prove that they converge to a linear combination of a
derivative of the Gaussian massless free field and an independent white noise.Comment: 38 pages, 3 figure
Non equilibrium steady states: fluctuations and large deviations of the density and of the current
These lecture notes give a short review of methods such as the matrix ansatz,
the additivity principle or the macroscopic fluctuation theory, developed
recently in the theory of non-equilibrium phenomena. They show how these
methods allow to calculate the fluctuations and large deviations of the density
and of the current in non-equilibrium steady states of systems like exclusion
processes. The properties of these fluctuations and large deviation functions
in non-equilibrium steady states (for example non-Gaussian fluctuations of
density or non-convexity of the large deviation function which generalizes the
notion of free energy) are compared with those of systems at equilibrium.Comment: 35 pages, 9 figure
Self-avoiding walks and connective constants
The connective constant of a quasi-transitive graph is the
asymptotic growth rate of the number of self-avoiding walks (SAWs) on from
a given starting vertex. We survey several aspects of the relationship between
the connective constant and the underlying graph .
We present upper and lower bounds for in terms of the
vertex-degree and girth of a transitive graph.
We discuss the question of whether for transitive
cubic graphs (where denotes the golden mean), and we introduce the
Fisher transformation for SAWs (that is, the replacement of vertices by
triangles).
We present strict inequalities for the connective constants
of transitive graphs , as varies.
As a consequence of the last, the connective constant of a Cayley
graph of a finitely generated group decreases strictly when a new relator is
added, and increases strictly when a non-trivial group element is declared to
be a further generator.
We describe so-called graph height functions within an account of
"bridges" for quasi-transitive graphs, and indicate that the bridge constant
equals the connective constant when the graph has a unimodular graph height
function.
A partial answer is given to the question of the locality of
connective constants, based around the existence of unimodular graph height
functions.
Examples are presented of Cayley graphs of finitely presented
groups that possess graph height functions (that are, in addition, harmonic and
unimodular), and that do not.

KaDE: A Tool to Compile Kappa Rules into (Reduced) ODE Models
Tools paper trackInternational audienceKappa is a formal language that can be used to model sys- tems of biochemical interactions among proteins. It offers several se- mantics to describe the behaviour of Kappa models at different levels of abstraction. Each Kappa model is a set of context-free rewrite rules. One way to understand the semantics of a Kappa model is to read its rules as an implicit description of a (potentially infinite) reaction net- work. KaDE is interpreting this definition to compile Kappa models into reaction networks (or equivalently into sets of ordinary differential equations). KaDE uses a static analysis that identifies pairs of sites that are indistinguishable from the rules point of view, to infer backward and forward bisimulations, hence reducing the size of the underlying reaction networks without having to generate them explicitly. In this paper, we describe the main current functionalities of KaDE and we give some benchmarks on case studies
Staff understanding of recovery-orientated mental health practice: a systematic review and narrative synthesis
Background: Mental health policy is for staff to transform their practice towards a recovery orientation. Staff understanding of recovery-orientated practice will influence the implementation of this policy. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review and narrative synthesis of empirical studies identifying clinician and manager conceptualisations of recovery-orientated practice.
Methods: A systematic review of empirical primary research was conducted. Data sources were online databases (n = 8), journal table of contents (n = 5), internet, expert consultation (n = 13), reference lists of included studies and references to included studies. Narrative synthesis was used to integrate the findings.
Results: A total of 10,125 studies were screened, 245 full papers were retrieved, and 22 were included (participants, n = 1163). The following three conceptualisations of recovery-orientated practice were identified: clinical recovery, personal recovery and service-defined recovery. Service-defined recovery is a new conceptualisation which translates recovery into practice according to the goals and financial needs of the organisation.
Conclusions: Organisational priorities influence staff understanding of recovery support. This influence is leading to the emergence of an additional meaning of recovery. The impact of service-led approaches to operationalising recovery-orientated practice has not been evaluated.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is the most common fatal motor neuron disease in adults. Numerous studies indicate that ALS is a systemic disease that affects whole body physiology and metabolic homeostasis. Using a mouse model of the disease (SOD1(G86R)), we investigated muscle physiology and motor behavior with respect to muscle metabolic capacity. We found that at 65 days of age, an age described as asymptomatic, SOD1(G86R) mice presented with improved endurance capacity associated with an early inhibition in the capacity for glycolytic muscle to use glucose as a source of energy and a switch in fuel preference toward lipids. Indeed, in glycolytic muscles we showed progressive induction of pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 4 expression. Phosphofructokinase 1 was inhibited, and the expression of lipid handling molecules was increased. This mechanism represents a chronic pathologic alteration in muscle metabolism that is exacerbated with disease progression. Further, inhibition of pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 4 activity with dichloroacetate delayed symptom onset while improving mitochondrial dysfunction and ameliorating muscle denervation. Matrix Coordinate Bethe Ansatz: Applications to XXZ and ASEP models
We present the construction of the full set of eigenvectors of the open ASEP
and XXZ models with special constraints on the boundaries. The method combines
both recent constructions of coordinate Bethe Ansatz and the old method of
matrix Ansatz specific to the ASEP. This "matrix coordinate Bethe Ansatz" can
be viewed as a non-commutative coordinate Bethe Ansatz, the non-commutative

Break in the Mean and Persistence of Inflation: A Sectoral Analysis of French CPI
This paper uses disaggregated CPI time series to show that a break in the mean of French inflation occurred in the mid-eighties and that the 1983 monetary policy shift mostly accounted for it. CPI average yearly growth declined from nearly 11% before the break date (May 1985) to 2.1% after. No other break in the 1973-2004 sample period can be found. Controlling for this mean break, both aggregate and sectoral inflation persistence are stable and low, with the unit root lying far in the tail of the persistence estimates. However, persistence differs dramatically across sectors. Finally, the duration between two price changes (at the firm level) appears positively related with inflation persistence (at the aggregate level)

Study protocol: cross-national comparative case study of recovery-focused mental health care planning and coordination (COCAPP).
BACKGROUND: The collaborative care planning study (COCAPP) is a cross-national comparative study of care planning and coordination in community mental healthcare settings. The context and delivery of mental health care is diverging between the countries of England and Wales whilst retaining points of common interest, hence providing a rich geographical comparison for research. Across England the key vehicle for the provision of recovery-focused, personalised, collaborative mental health care is the care programme approach (CPA). The CPA is a form of case management introduced in England in 1991, then revised in 2008. In Wales the CPA was introduced in 2003 but has now been superseded by The Mental Health (Care Co-ordination and Care and Treatment Planning) (CTP) Regulations (Mental Health Measure), a new statutory framework. In both countries, the CPA/CTP requires providers to: comprehensively assess health/social care needs and risks; develop a written care plan (which may incorporate risk assessments, crisis and contingency plans, advanced directives, relapse prevention plans, etc.) in collaboration with the service user and carer(s); allocate a care coordinator; and regularly review care. The overarching aim of this study is to identify and describe the factors that ensure CPA/CTP care planning and coordination is personalised, recovery-focused and conducted collaboratively. METHODS/DESIGN: COCAPP will employ a concurrent transformative mixed methods approach with embedded case studies. Phase 1 (Macro-level) will consider the national context through a meta-narrative mapping (MNM) review of national policies and the relevant research literature. Phase 2 (Meso-level and Micro-level) will include in-depth micro-level case studies of everyday 'frontline' practice and experience with detailed qualitative data from interviews and reviews of individual care plans. This will be nested within larger meso-level survey datasets, senior-level interviews and policy reviews in order to provide potential explanations and understanding. DISCUSSION: COCAPP will help identify the key components that support and hinder the provision of personalised, recovery-focused care planning and provide an informed rationale for a future planned intervention and evaluation
