ADR in aviation: European and national perspectives
The air transport sector generates the largest share of cross-border consumer complaints, as a proportion of complaints received by the ECC-Net. Since the foundation of the ECC-Net in 2005, air passenger claims have made up around one fifth of the total caseload most years. A pan-European framework of bodies that handle consumer to business disputes will be implemented through the consumer ADR directive.4 Taking these developments into consideration, the aviation industry is an interesting sector to study. pressure monitoring as a surrogate for cardiac preload.
Starting with Starling’s original studies on the
regulation of cardiac output, this review traces the
history of the experiments that elucidated the role of
central venous pressure in circulatory physiology.
Central venous pressure is an important physiologic
parameter, but it is not an independent variable that
determines cardiac output
Charge migration in organic materials: Can propagating charges affect the key physical quantities controlling their motion?
Charge migration is a ubiquitous phenomenon with profound implications
throughout many areas of chemistry, physics, biology and materials science. The
long-term vision of designing functional materials with tailored molecular
scale properties has triggered an increasing quest to identify prototypical
systems where truly molecular conduction pathways play a fundamental role. Such
pathways can be formed due to the molecular organization of various organic
materials and are widely used to discuss electronic properties at the nanometer
scale. Here, we present a computational methodology to study charge propagation
in organic molecular stacks at nano and sub-nanoscales and exploit this
methodology to demonstrate that moving charge carriers strongly affect the
values of the physical quantities controlling their motion. The approach is
also expected to find broad application in the field of charge migration in

Zur Erhebung des adaptiven Verhaltens von zwei- und dreijährigen Kindern im Sozio-oekonomischen Panel (SOEP)
Das SOEP baut seit dem Jahr 2003 das Erhebungsinstrumentarium für den Bereich der frühen Kindheit systematisch aus. Dieser Beitrag berichtet über die instrumentelle Güte eines 20 Items umfassenden Mütterfragebogens zum adaptiven Verhalten von zwei- bis dreijährigen Kindern (VABS) in den Bereichen Sprache, Alltagsfertigkeiten, Motorik und soziale Beziehungen, der erstmals im Jahr 2005 eingesetzt wurde. Untersucht werden Aspekte der instrumentellen Güte (Reliabilität; Validität; Entwicklungssensitivität) sowie bi- und multivariate Zusammenhänge mit anderen Kindmerkmalen, der kindlichen Betreuungssituation und Haushalts- und Familienmerkmalen. Als Fazit kann festgehalten werden, dass die Autoren einen hohen Nutzen der Skala im Kontext des breiten Kranzes von SOEP-Daten sehen.Since the year 2003, SOEP has been systematically adding to its repertoire of survey instruments in the area of early childhood. The present study reports on the instrumental value of a 20-item "mother questionnaire" on the adaptive behavior of their two to three-year-old children (VABS) in the areas of language, everyday skills, motor skills, and social relationships. The survey was first employed in the year 2005. We study aspects of instrumental quality (reliability, validity, sensitivity to change), as well as bivariate and multivariate relationships with other characteristics of the child, the childcare situation, and the household and family. The authors conclude that SOEP-Vineland-Scale is very useful in the wider context of the SOEP data
Rate-equation calculations of the current flow through two-site molecular device and DNA-based junction
Here we present the calculations of incoherent current flowing through the
two-site molecular device as well as the DNA-based junction within the
rate-equation approach. Few interesting phenomena are discussed in detail.
Structural asymmetry of two-site molecule results in rectification effect,
which can be neutralized by asymmetric voltage drop at the molecule-metal
contacts due to coupling asymmetry. The results received for poly(dG)-poly(dC)
DNA molecule reveal the coupling- and temperature-independent saturation effect
of the current at high voltages, where for short chains we establish the
inverse square distance dependence. Besides, we document the shift of the
conductance peak in the direction to higher voltages due to the temperature

Photoactivatable genetically encoded calcium indicators for targeted neuronal imaging.
Circuit mapping requires knowledge of both structural and functional connectivity between cells. Although optical tools have been made to assess either the morphology and projections of neurons or their activity and functional connections, few probes integrate this information. We have generated a family of photoactivatable genetically encoded Ca(2+) indicators that combines attributes of high-contrast photolabeling with high-sensitivity Ca(2+) detection in a single-color protein sensor. We demonstrated in cultured neurons and in fruit fly and zebrafish larvae how single cells could be selected out of dense populations for visualization of morphology and high signal-to-noise measurements of activity, synaptic transmission and connectivity. Our design strategy is transferrable to other sensors based on circularly permutated GFP (cpGFP)
Analytic Behaviour of Competition among Three Species
We analyse the classical model of competition between three species studied
by May and Leonard ({\it SIAM J Appl Math} \textbf{29} (1975) 243-256) with the
approaches of singularity analysis and symmetry analysis to identify values of
the parameters for which the system is integrable. We observe some striking
relations between critical values arising from the approach of dynamical

Condensation vs. phase-ordering in the dynamics of first order transitions
The origin of the non commutativity of the limits and in the dynamics of first order transitions is investigated. In the
large-N model, i.e. taken first, the low temperature phase is
characterized by condensation of the large wave length fluctuations rather than
by genuine phase-ordering as when is taken first. A detailed
study of the scaling properties of the structure factor in the large-N model is
carried out for quenches above, at and below T_c. Preasymptotic scaling is
found and crossover phenomena are related to the existence of components in the
order parameter with different scaling properties. Implications for
