Non-collaborative Attackers and How and Where to Defend Flawed Security Protocols (Extended Version)

Security protocols are often found to be flawed after their deployment. We present an approach that aims at the neutralization or mitigation of the attacks to flawed protocols: it avoids the complete dismissal of the interested protocol and allows honest agents to continue to use it until a corrected version is released. Our approach is based on the knowledge of the network topology, which we model as a graph, and on the consequent possibility of creating an interference to an ongoing attack of a Dolev-Yao attacker, by means of non-collaboration actuated by ad-hoc benign attackers that play the role of network guardians. Such guardians, positioned in strategical points of the network, have the task of monitoring the messages in transit and discovering at runtime, through particular types of inference, whether an attack is ongoing, interrupting the run of the protocol in the positive case. We study not only how but also where we can attempt to defend flawed security protocols: we investigate the different network topologies that make security protocol defense feasible and illustrate our approach by means of concrete examples.Comment: 29 page

Sound transmission loss of cross-laminated timber walls: Comparison between measurements carried out in transmission suites and point mobility measurements

    Get PDF
The transition from concrete-based to wood-based construction is drawing more attention to the use of cross-laminated timber elements, especially in the building sector. In this context, there is a need to assess the transmission loss performances of such elements already during the research and development phase, when making several tests in sound transmission suites would be overly expensive and time-consuming. The flexural behavior of a composite structure can be determined by point mobility tests. From this kind of measurements, it is possible to estimate the loss factor of the partition and its bending stiffness which, in turn, can be used to determine its sound transmission loss once some basic physical properties are known. In this paper, the sound transmission of cross-laminated timber partitions is obtained with this method. Results are validated by means of measurements in sound transmission suites

Analisis Pengaruh Good Corporate Governance Index dan Rating Obligasi terhadap Investment Opportunity dan Struktur Modal Perusahaan (Studi pada Perusahaan Peserta CGPI Tahun 2009-2012 yang Terdaftar di BEI)

This study aimed to determine the direct and indirect effect of good corporate governance, bond rating with the investment opportunity and the capital structure on the companies participating in CGPI listed on Indonesian Stock Exchange 2009-2012. Purpose sampling method used to get our sample. Then, the analytical method used is path analysis in accordance with the purpose of research which analyzes the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable. The result shows that: (1) Good Corporate Governance Index and Bond Rating have a positive direct effect but not significant to the Investment Opportunity, (2) Corporate Governance Index has a positive direct effect but not significant to the Capital Structure, (3) Bond Rating have a negative direct effect and not significant to the capital structure, (4) Investment Opportunity have a negative indirectly effect and significant to the capital structure, (5) Good Corporate Governance Index and Bond Rating does not have an indirect effect to the Capital Structure through Investment Opportunity

Cooperative is an organization that puts the interests and welfare of more members in the central position of the overall cooperative activity. In the application of balanced scorecard on the use of cooperatives, there is an adjustment in the four balanced scorecard perspectives are: financial perspective, membership perspective, partnership perspective, and learning and growth perspective. The purpose of this research was to determine the performance of Cooperative of Krama Yudha Ratu Motor Employees seen from the balanced scorecard method. The achievement of the objectives of this research is to use the method of Focus Group Discussion with the employee to determine the score obtained. From the results of measurements that have been done show that the whole performance of Cooperative of Krama Yudha Ratu Motor Employees is pretty good, it is shown from the score generated from each perspective. The conclusion to be drawn from the analysis that has been done is that the balanced scorecard can be used as a method of performance measurement in the cooperative, as the balanced scorecard raised the important aspects that are ignored by the traditional performance measurement, so that the measurement results with the balanced scorecard is more comprehensive. Suggestion which can be submitted from the author is pay more attention to non-financial aspects in order to maximize the potential of cooperative and cooperative can also achieve the welfare of its members

Towards elimination of measles and rubella in Italy. Progress and challenges

Introduction In the WHO European Region, endemic transmission of measles and rubella had been interrupted by 37 and 42 of the 53 member states (MSs), respectively, by 2018. Sixteen MSs are still endemic for measles, 11 for rubella and nine for both diseases, the latter including Italy. Elimination is documented by each country’s National Verification Committee (NVC) through an annual status update (ASU). Objective By analysing data used to produce the ASUs, we aimed to describe the advances made by Italy towards elimination of measles and rubella. Moreover, we propose a set of major interventions that could facilitate the elimination process. Methods A total of 28 indicators were identified within the six core sections of the ASU form and these were evaluated for the period 2013–2018. These indicators relate to the incidence of measles/rubella; epidemiological investigation of cases; investigation of outbreaks; performance of the surveillance system; population immunity levels; and implementation of supplemental immunization activities (SIAs). Results From 2013 to 2018, epidemiological and laboratory analyses of measles cases in Italy improved substantially, allowing timely investigation in 2017 and 2018 of most outbreak and sporadic cases and identification of the majority of genotypic variants. Moreover, since 2017, vaccination coverage has increased significantly. Despite these improvements, several areas of concern emerged, prompting the following recommendations: i) improve outbreak monitoring; ii) strengthen the MoRoNet network; iii) increase the number of SIAs; iv) reinforce vaccination services; v) maintain regional monitoring; vi) design effective communication strategies; vii) foster the role of general practitioners and family paediatricians. Conclusions The review of national ASUs is a crucial step to provide the NVC with useful insights into the elimination process and to guide the development of targeted interventions. Against this background, the seven recommendations proposed by the NVC have been shared with the Italian Ministry of Health and the Technical Advisory Group on measles and rubella elimination and have been incorporated into the new Italian Elimination Plan 2019–2023 as a technical aid to facilitate the achievement of disease elimination goals
