Training Requirements to Enable Transport Planners, Engineers and Operators to Respond to the Challenge of Legislative Change

This Working Paper forms the basis of the Final Report submitted to the Manpower Services Commission at the conclusion of an I.T.S. study into how the training requirements of transport professionals in the Yorkshire and Humberside region, may change as a result of the 1985 Transport Act and the 1985 Local Government Act. The project formed part of the Department of Education and Science PICKUP PROGRAM (Professional, Industrial and Commercial Updating) and covered the period 1 October 1985 to 30 November 1986

A Production Analysis of the Musical, Peter Pan

This investigation is concerned with the analysis of a production of Peter Pan, a large-scale musical play, which was presented at Dallas Repertory Theatre in February of 1975. This analysis is intended to be both an educative discussion of the experimental nature of the show and a practical guide to the production of a typical musical play by a non-professional company. The most outstanding elements examined include the following: (1) casting a teen-age boy, instead of an adult, in the title role; (2) casting children in all children's roles, and adults in all adult roles; (3) modification of the script and score to implement the casting of children in key roles; (4) the utilization of a short motion picture to simulate the flying of actors onstage

The methods and techniques employed in the manufacture of the Shroud of Turin.

Thesis (Ph.D.)-University of Durban-Westville, 1993.The main objective of the inquiry is to deduce the methods and techniques that were employed in the manufacture of the historically unique Shroud of Turin. By taking a more or less phenomenologically based stance, it is argued that this image could only have been produced by employing a photographically related technique. To this end, an examination is made of both the nature of the image, as well as all relevant documented evidence which supports the above stated hypothesis. In addition, practical experiments are conducted which employ the kinds of technology and apparatus known to have existed c 1250-1357 AD. The results of this investigation strongly support the notion that persons living c 1250- 1357 AD did in fact have the necessary technology to manufacture what could be termed a negative solargraphic image of a human subject
