Additional contribution to the bryophyte flora of Chapada Diamantina National Park, State of Bahia, Brazil
This paper represents an additional contribution toward the knowledge of a bryophyte flora of Chapada Diamantina National Park in the State of Bahia, Brazil, in which are reported 27 species of mosses belonging to 22 genera and 14 families, and four species of liverworts belonging to four genera and three families. Most of these species seem to be restricted to this high altitude geomorphological complex area
Nonparametric models of financial leverage decisions
This paper investigates the properties of nonparametric decision tree models in the analysis of financial leverage decisions. This approach presents two appealing features: the relationship between leverage ratios and the explanatory variables is not predetermined but is derived according to information provided by the data, and the models respect the bounded and fractional nature of leverage ratios. The analysis shows that tree models suggest relationships between explanatory variables and the relative amount of issued debt that parametric models fail to capture. Furthermore, the significant relationships found by tree models are in most cases in accordance with the effects predicted by the pecking-order theory. The results also show that two-part tree models can accommodate better the distinct effects of explanatory variables on the decision to issue debt and on the amount of debt issued by firms that do resort to debt.Capital structure, Fractional regression, Decision trees, Two-part models
Vacuum decay in an interacting multiverse
We examine a new multiverse scenario in which the component universes
interact. We focus our attention to the process of "true" vacuum nucleation in
the false vacuum within one single element of the multiverse. It is shown that
the interactions lead to a collective behaviour that might lead, under specific
conditions, to a pre-inflationary phase and ensued distinguishable imprints in
the comic microwave background radiation.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure
Automatic camera pose initialization, using scale, rotation and luminance invariant natural feature tracking
The solution to the camera registration and tracking problem serves Augmented Reality, in order to provide an enhancement to the user’s cognitive perception of the real world and his/her situational awareness. By analyzing the five most representative tracking and feature detection techniques, we have concluded that the Camera Pose Initialization (CPI) problem, a relevant sub-problem in the overall camera tracking problem, is still far from being solved using straightforward and non-intrusive methods. The assessed techniques often use user inputs (i.e. mouse clicking) or auxiliary artifacts (i.e. fiducial markers) to solve the CPI problem. This paper presents a novel approach to real-time scale, rotation and luminance invariant natural feature tracking, in order to solve the CPI problem using totally automatic procedures. The technique is applicable for the case of planar objects with arbitrary topologies and natural textures, and can be used in Augmented Reality. We also present a heuristic method for feature clustering, which has revealed to be efficient and reliable. The presented work uses this novel feature detection technique as a baseline for a real-time and robust planar texture tracking algorithm, which combines optical flow, backprojection and template matching techniques. The paper presents also performance and precision results of the proposed technique.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Fenologia do limoeiro Eureka no Vale do São Francisco.
