Soil and water pollution in a banana production region in tropical Mexico
The effects of abundant Mancozeb (Mn, Zn— bisdithiocarbamate) applications (2.5 kg ha-1week-1 for 10 years) on soil and surface-, subsurface- and groundwater pollution were monitored in a banana production region of tropical Mexico. In soils, severe manganese accumulation was observed, wheras the main metabolite ethylenethiourea was near the detection limit. Surface and subsurface water was highly polluted with ethylenethiourea, the main metabolite of Mancozeb (22.5 and 4.3 lg L-1, respectively), but not with manganese. In deep ground water, no ethylenethiourea was detected. The level of pollution in the region presents a worrisome risk for aquatic life and for human health
Driven open quantum systems and Floquet stroboscopic dynamics
We provide an analytic solution to the problem of system-bath dynamics under
the effect of high-frequency driving that has applications in a large class of
settings, such as driven-dissipative many-body systems. Our method relies on
discrete symmetries of the system-bath Hamiltonian and provides the time
evolution operator of the full system, including bath degrees of freedom,
without weak-coupling or Markovian assumptions. An interpretation of the
solution in terms of the strobo- scopic evolution of a family of observables
under the influence of an effective static Hamiltonian is proposed, which
constitutes a flexible simulation procedure of non-trivial Hamiltonians. We
instan- tiate the result with the study of the spin-boson model with
time-dependent tunneling amplitude. We analyze the class of Hamiltonians that
may be stroboscopically accessed for this example and illustrate the dynamics
of system and bath degrees of freedom.Comment: Corrected minor typos in reference
Topological pumping of photons in nonlinear resonator arrays
We show how to implement topological or Thouless pumping of interacting
photons in one dimensional nonlinear resonator arrays, by simply modulating the
frequency of the resonators periodically in space and time. The interplay
between interactions and the adiabatic modulations enables robust transport of
Fock states with few photons per site. We analyze the transport mechanism via
an effective analytic model and study its topological properties and its
protection to noise. We conclude by a detailed study of an implementation with
existing circuit QED architectures.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, and Supplemental Material. Comments are welcom
Propuesta metodológica de intercambio electrónico de información clínica basada en estándares de telemedicina/Methodological proposal of electronic data interchange and clinical information based on telemedicine standards
The advance of Information and Communication Technologies has improved Health Care in last years; by providing new ways of accessing medical information. In particular, the use of telemedicine standards such as HL7 and CENTC 251-13606 allows standard communication, integration, and retrieval of electronic health records among medical systems. This article aims to create a methodological guide for the electronic exchange of clinical information based on telemedicine standards in order to improve the efficiency of electronic health records management. The proposed methodology consists of two phases: The first one states the design and implementation of the reference model of an electronic health records, which defines entities of the electronic health record. In phase 2, this methodology describes electronic health records architecture. The architecture is defined by the structure and semantics of the document using XML. In order to test the proposed methodology, a medical system was implemented that consists of a web application, desktop application, and hardware platform e- Health. This system allows the electronic exchange of clinical information to ease patient-doctor interaction. The results show 83,32% of doctors at the clinic where the system was tested agree the proposed methodology for electronic exchange improves the efficiency of electronic health records management since it speeds up the process of creation and retrieval of an electronic health records. Moreover, the system reduces resources in the control of home patients.

Floquet stroboscopic divisibility in non-Markovian dynamics
We provide a general discussion of the Liouvillian spectrum for a system
coupled to a non-Markovian bath using Floquet theory. This approach is suitable
when the system is described by a time-convolutionless master equation with
time-periodic rates. Surprisingly, the periodic nature of rates allow us to
have a stroboscopic divisible dynamical map at discrete times, which we refer
to as Floquet stroboscopic divisibility. We illustrate the general theory for a
Schr\"odinger cat which is roaming inside a non-Markovian bath, and demonstrate
the appearance of stroboscopic revival of the cat at later time after its
death. Our theory may have profound implications in entropy production in
non-equilibrium systems.Comment: We changed the title and explained in more detail the definition of
non-Markovian dynamics used in the manuscrip
Photon-resolved Floquet theory in open quantum systems
Photon-resolved Floquet theory keeps track of the photon exchange of a
quantum system with a coherent driving field. It thus complements the standard
full-counting statistics that counts the number of photons exchanged with
incoherent photon modes giving rise to dissipation. In this paper, we introduce
a unifying framework describing both situations. We develop methods suitable
for an analytical evaluation of low-order cumulants of photonic probability
distributions. Within this framework we analyze the two-mode Jaynes-Cummings
model to demonstrate that the Photon-resolved Floquet theory and the standard
full-counting statistics make consistent statistical predictions.
Interestingly, we find that the photon-flux fluctuations diverge for vanishing
dissipation, which can be related to an entanglement effect between the driven
matter system and the driving field. To substantiate our results, we use our
framework to describe efficient photon up-conversion in an ac-driven lambda
system, that is characterized by a high signal-to-noise ratio. As the framework
is non-perturbative and predicts fluctuations, it paves the way towards
non-perturbative spectroscopy, which will assist to improve metrological
methods.Comment: 25 pages, 6 figures, 4 appendices. Comments are welcom
