New forms of BRST symmetry in rigid rotor

We derive the different forms of BRST symmetry by using the Batalin-Fradkin-Vilkovisky formalism in a rigid rotor. The so called "dual-BRST" symmetry is obtained from usual BRST symmetry by making a canonical transformation in the ghost sector. On the other hand, a canonical transformation in the sector involving Lagrange multiplier and its corresponding momentum leads to a new form of BRST as well as dual-BRST symmetry.Comment: 10 Pages, revtex, No Fig

NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF AIRFOILS APPLIED TO UAVs

    Get PDF
This essay aims the process optimization when referred to aeronautical projects. By using mesh generators softwares and simulations made in CFD, the article employs numerical techniques to simulate airfoils and shows that is possible to extract accurated and conservative outcomes when compared to wind tunnel results. The test cases studied were based on the Selig 1223 type of airfoil and developed into the ANSYS platform, whereas by using the ICEM mesh tool, structured meshs were generated and imported to the CFX enviroment, where they could be simulated and analyzed

Occurrences of Sea turtles in Azores Archipelago

    Get PDF
Sea turtles are the best-known and more widespread marine reptiles. However, information on their distribution and the occurrence of most species, except for nesting beaches, remains scarce and sporadic, depending on sightings from fishing vessels, tourist activities and occurrences in coastal areas as well as fishing bycatch. Since the last updated speciesā€™ list for the Azores (Santos et al, 2010), no new speciesā€™ record was known for Azorean waters, until October 2020, with the confirmed sighting of an Olive Ridley, Lepidochelys olivacea (Eschscholtz, 1829) (Barcelos et al. 2021). After that, in February 2021, a second individual was found stranded on Pico Island, already in an advanced state of decomposition. This increased the number of species present in Azores EEZ (Exclusive Economic Zone) to six out of the seven extant worldwide. The remaining one, Natator depressus (Garman, 1880), is native to the Indo-pacific (see Red List Standards & Petitions Subcommittee, 1996).FUNDING: AZORESBIOPORTAL ā€“ PORBIOTA (Azores PO 2020 - ACORES-01-0145-FEDER-000072) TOTAL BUDGET: 299. 901,83ā‚¬ EU Support: 254. 916, 56ā‚¬ This project was financed by FEDER in 85% and by Azorean Public funds by 15% through Operational Program Azores 2020. Pinniped (Carnivora, Phocidae) occurrences in the Azores Archipelago (NE Atlantic)

BACKGROUND: The last Pinniped species update was in 2010, as part of the list of the terrestrial and marine biota from the Azores. This list includes a chapter dedicated to marine mammals, based on previously published bibliography. NEW INFORMATION: No new species were added since that list was published. However, there were new occurrences since the last update.Funding Institutions: AZORESBIOPORTAL ā€“ PORBIOTA (Azores PO 2020 - ACORES-01-0145-FEDER-000072) TOTAL BUDGET: ā‚¬299,901.83 EU Support: ā‚¬254, 916.56. Lagrangian approach to a symplectic formalism for singular systems

    Get PDF
We develop a Lagrangian approach for constructing a symplectic structure for singular systems. It gives a simple and unified framework for understanding the origin of the pathologies that appear in the Dirac-Bergmann formalism, and offers a more general approach for a symplectic formalism, even when there is no Hamiltonian in a canonical sense. We can thus overcome the usual limitations of the canonical quantization, and perform an algebraically consistent quantization for a more general set of Lagrangian systems.Comment: 30 page

Symmetry transform in the Faddeev-Jackiw quantization of dual models

We study the presence of symmetry transformations in the Faddeev-Jackiw approach for constrained systems. Our analysis is based in the case of a particle submitted to a particular potential which depends on an arbitrary function. The method is implemented in a natural way and symmetry generators are identified. These symmetries permit us to obtain the absent elements of the sympletic matrix which complement the set of Dirac brackets of such a theory. The study developed here is applied in two different dual models. First, we discuss the case of a two-dimensional oscillator interacting with an electromagnetic potential described by a Chern-Simons term and second the Schwarz-Sen gauge theory, in order to obtain the complete set of non-null Dirac brackets and the correspondent Maxwell electromagnetic theory limit.Comment: 22 pages, RevTex file, no figur

First record of the great barracuda, Sphyraena barracuda (Perciformes, Sphyraenidae), in the Azores, northā€east Atlantic

One individual of Sphyraena barracuda was collected on August 5, 2023, in the northern coast of Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal, by spearfishing. In this note, we report this first record and discuss the occurrence, which represents the northernmost one in the north-east Atlantic.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
