Magnetic polarons in weakly doped high-Tc superconductors
We consider a spin Hamiltonian describing - exchange interactions
between localized spins of a finite antiferromagnet as well as -
interactions between a conducting hole () and localized spins. The spin
Hamiltonian is solved numerically with use of Lanczos method of
diagonalization. We conclude that - exchange interaction leads to
localization of magnetic polarons. Quantum fluctuations of the antiferromagnet
strengthen this effect and make the formation of polarons localized in one site
possible even for weak - coupling. Total energy calculations, including
the kinetic energy, do not change essentially the phase diagram of magnetic
polarons formation. For parameters reasonable for high- superconductors
either a polaron localized on one lattice cell or a small ferron can form. For
reasonable values of the dielectric function and - coupling, the
contributions of magnetic and phonon terms in the formation of a polaron in
weakly doped high- materials are comparable.Comment: revised, revtex-4, 12 pages 8 eps figure
Berry phases and pairing symmetry in Holstein-Hubbard polaron systems
We study the tunneling dynamics of dopant-induced hole polarons which are
self-localized by electron-phonon coupling in a two-dimensional antiferro-
magnet. Our treatment is based on a path integral formulation of the adia-
batic approximation, combined with many-body tight-binding, instanton, con-
strained lattice dynamics, and many-body exact diagonalization techniques. Our
results are mainly based on the Holstein- and, for comparison, on the
Holstein-Hubbard model. We also study effects of 2nd neighbor hopping and
long-range electron-electron Coulomb repulsion. The polaron tunneling dynamics
is mapped onto an effective low-energy Hamiltonian which takes the form of a
fermion tight-binding model with occupancy dependent, predominant- ly 2nd and
3rd neighbor tunneling matrix elements, excluded double occupan- cy, and an
effective intersite charge interactions. Antiferromagnetic spin correlations in
the original many-electron Hamiltonian are reflected by an attractive
contribution to the 1st neighbor charge interaction and by Berry phase factors
which determine the signs of effective polaron tunneling ma- trix elements. In
the two-polaron case, these phase factors lead to polaron pair wave functions
of either -wave symmetry or p-wave symme- try with zero and
nonzero total pair momentum, respectively. Implications for the doping
dependent isotope effect, pseudo-gap and Tc of a superconduc- ting polaron pair
condensate are discussed/compared to observed in cuprates.Comment: 23 pages, revtex, 13 ps figure
Lax Representation of the Hyperbolic van Diejen Dynamics with Two Coupling Parameters
In this paper, we construct a Lax pair for the classical hyperbolic van Diejen system with two independent coupling parameters. Built upon this construction, we show that the dynamics can be solved by a projection method, which in turn allows us to initiate the study of the scattering properties. As a consequence, we prove the equivalence between the first integrals provided by the eigenvalues of the Lax matrix and the family of van Diejen’s commuting Hamiltonians. Also, at the end of the paper, we propose a candidate for the Lax matrix of the hyperbolic van Diejen system with three independent coupling constants
