    Simulation of quantum random walks using interference of classical field

    We suggest a theoretical scheme for the simulation of quantum random walks on a line using beam splitters, phase shifters and photodetectors. Our model enables us to simulate a quantum random walk with use of the wave nature of classical light fields. Furthermore, the proposed set-up allows the analysis of the effects of decoherence. The transition from a pure mean photon-number distribution to a classical one is studied varying the decoherence parameters.Comment: extensively revised version; title changed; to appear on Phys.     Background: The aim of this study is to elucidate the anatomical considerations with reference to botulinum neurotoxin type A (BTX) injection, on sectioned images and surface models, using Visible Korean. These can be used for medical education and clinical training in the field of facial surgery.Materials and methods: Serially sectioned images of the head were obtained from a cadaver. Significant anatomic structures in the sectioned images were outlined and assembled to create a surface model.Results: The PDF file (27.8 MB) of the stacked models can be accessed for free. The file can also be obtained from the authors by email. Using this file, important anatomical structures associated with the BTX injection can be investigated in the sectioned images. All surface models and stereoscopic structures related with theBTX injection are described in real time.Conclusions: We hope that these state-of-the-art sectioned images, outlined images, and surface models will assist students and trainees in acquiring a better understanding of the anatomy associated with the BTX injection

    As typically implemented, single photon sources cannot be made to produce single photons with high probability, while simultaneously suppressing the probability of yielding two or more photons. Because of this, single photon sources cannot really produce single photons on demand.     Role of correlated two-pion exchange in K+NK^+ N scattering

    A dynamical model for S-- and P--wave correlated 2π2 \pi (and KKˉK \bar K) exchange between a kaon and a nucleon is presented, starting from corresponding NNˉKKˉN \bar N \rightarrow K \bar K amplitudes in the pseudophysical region, which have been constructed from nucleon, Δ\Delta--isobar and hyperon (Λ\Lambda, Σ\Sigma) exchange Born terms and a realistic meson exchange model of the ππKKˉ\pi \pi \rightarrow K \bar K and KKˉKKˉK \bar K \rightarrow K \bar K amplitude. The contribution in the s--channel is then obtained by performing a dispersion relation over the unitarity cut. In the ρ\rho--channel, considerable ambiguities exist, depending on how the dispersion integral is performed. Our model, supplemented by short range interaction terms, is able to describe empirical K+NK^+ N data below pion production threshold in a satisfactory way.Comment: 24 pages, REVTEX, figures available from the author

    Flavor Twisted Boundary Conditions, Pion Momentum, and the Pion Electromagnetic Form Factor

    We investigate the utility of partially twisted boundary conditions in lattice calculations of meson observables. For dynamical simulations, we show that the pion dispersion relation is modified by volume effects. In the isospin limit, we demonstrate that the pion electromagnetic form factor can be computed on the lattice at continuous values of the momentum transfer.
