Evidence for flow in pPb collisions at 5 TeV from v2 mass splitting
We show that a fluid dynamical scenario describes quantitatively the observed
mass splitting of the elliptical flow coefficients v2 for pions, kaons, and
protons. This provides a strong argument in favor of the existence of a fluid
dynamical expansion in pPb collisions at 5TeV
Automated Patient Information Systems for Federal Government Hospitals in Nigeria.
Patient information system has been discovered to be the key contributor to success in the prescription of drugs for major ailments like diabetes and others. This research has discovered difficulties that the medical experts are facing in the aspect of patient information system. The solutions to those difficulties have been considered in the design and development of this automated prescription and patient information system. This work applied the technology of artificial intelligence in combination with the technology of distributed database system for the development of hybrid automated system. The hybrid automated system has been specially designed to be used by Federal Government hospitals in Nigeria. The software is of great importance to medical professionals like doctors, and nurses. In situations where a medical expert is not available, some other medical professionals like young doctors and nurses could consult the computerized expert system for diagnosis and prescription of drugs based on patient information system. The Ministry of Health can easily install this software at the Federal Government hospitals in support of available human resources. The automated system is to assist in management of the database of the patients’ particularly diabetic ones [6], [7]. This research applied distributed database system for patient information system. It shows how the query is distributed to the various Informix database servers by a coordinating Informix database server, and how the coordinator reassembles, transforms, and aggregates the intermediate results from the
various participating database servers for prescription and patient information system.

Yield and Yield Componemts of Extra Early Maize (Zea Mays L.) as Influenced by Intra-Row Spacing, Nitrogen and Poultry Manure Rates
Field trials were conducted during the rainy seasons of 2006, 2007 and 2008 at the Institute for Agricultural Research (I.A.R.) Farm, Samaru to determine the performance of extra early maize (Zea mays L.) as affected by intra-row spacing, nitrogen and poultry manure rates. The treatments consisted of factorial combinations of three intra-row spacing (20, 25 and 30 cm), three rates of nitrogen (40, 80 and 120 kg ha-1) and four rates of poultry manure (0, 2, 4 and 6 t ha-1). The treatments were laid out in a split-plot design with three replications. Combinations of nitrogen and poultry manure rates were assigned to main plot, while intra-row spacing was assigned to the sub plot. The results showed increase in intra-row spacing from 20 to 25 cm significantly increased number of rows cob-1, cob diameter, 100-grain weight and grain yield. The effect of nitrogen on such yield components as cob diameter, cob length and 100-grain weight was significant as the response was in the range of 80 to 120 kg ha-1. Varying level of poultry manure had a significant effect on the performance of the crop. The high level of 2 t ha-1 poultry manure significantly out yielded the control but at par with 4 and 6 t ha-1 in most of the yield attributes. The optimum yield (2.26 t ha-1) was obtained by the combination of 25 cm intra row spacing, 82 kg N ha-1 and 1.91 t poultry manure ha-1 and should therefore be adopted by extra early maize farmers in Northern Guinea Savanna agro ecology
Analysis and control of bifurcation and chaos in averaged queue length in TCP/RED model
This paper studies the bifurcation and chaos phenomena in averaged queue length in a
developed Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) model with Random Early Detection
(RED) mechanism. Bifurcation and chaos phenomena are nonlinear behaviour in network
systems that lead to degradation of the network performance. The TCP/RED model used
is a model validated previously. In our study, only the average queue size k q
−
is
considered, and the results are based on analytical model rather than actual measurements.
The instabilities in the model are studied numerically using the conventional nonlinear
bifurcation analysis. Extending from this bifurcation analysis, a modified RED algorithm
is derived to prevent the observed bifurcation and chaos regardless of the selected
parameters. Our modification is for the simple scenario of a single RED router carrying
only TCP traffic. The algorithm neither compromises the throughput nor the average
queuing delay of the system
