CO observations of the expanding envelope of IRC plus 10216
High-sensitivity emission profiles were observed for the transition of C12O16 and C13O16 towards IRC + or - 10216. It appears that the spherically symmetric uniform mass-outflow model proposed by Morris is necessary to describe the line profiles. The outflow appears to be slightly accelerated, having a velocity of 15 km/sec at the edges of the CO cloud, compared with 12 km/sec for the more centrally confined molecules
Coupled opto-electronic simulation of organic bulk-heterojunction solar cells: parameter extraction and sensitivity analysis
A general problem arising in computer simulations is the number of material
and device parameters, which have to be determined by dedicated experiments and
simulation-based parameter extraction. In this study we analyze measurements of
the short-circuit current dependence on the active layer thickness and
current-voltage curves in poly(3-hexylthiophene):[6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid
methyl ester (P3HT:PCBM) based solar cells. We have identified a set of
parameter values including dissociation parameters that describe the
experimental data. The overall agreement of our model with experiment is good,
however a discrepancy in the thickness dependence of the current-voltage curve
questions the influence of the electric field in the dissociation process. In
addition transient simulations are analyzed which show that a measurement of
the turn-off photocurrent can be useful for estimating charge carrier

Performance of a centrifugal pump running in inverse mode
This paper presents the functional characterization of a centrifugal pump used as a turbine. It shows the characteristics of the machine involved at several rotational speeds, comparing the respective flows and heads. In this way, it is possible to observe the influence of the rotational speed on efficiency, as well as obtaining the characteristics at constant head and runaway speed. Also, the forces actuating on the impeller were studied. An uncertainty analysis was made to assess the accuracy of the results. The research results indicate that the turbine characteristics can be predicted to some extent from the pump characteristics, that water flows out of the runner free of swirl flow at the best efficiency point, and that radial stresses are lower than in pump mode
Extended Poincar\'e supersymmetry in three dimensions and supersymmetric anyons
We classify the unitary representations of the extended Poincar\'e
supergroups in three dimensions. Irreducible unitary representations of any
spin can appear, which correspond to supersymmetric anyons. Our results also
show that all irreducible unitary representations necessarily have physical
momenta. This is in sharp contrast to the ordinary Poincar\'e group in three
dimensions, that admits in addition irreducible unitary representations with

Equivalence of domains for hyperbolic Hubbard-Stratonovich transformations
We settle a long standing issue concerning the traditional derivation of
non-compact non-linear sigma models in the theory of disordered electron
systems: the hyperbolic Hubbard-Stratonovich (HS) transformation of
Pruisken-Schaefer type. Only recently the validity of such transformations was
proved in the case of U(p,q) (non-compact unitary) and O(p,q) (non-compact
orthogonal) symmetry. In this article we give a proof for general non-compact
symmetry groups. Moreover we show that the Pruisken-Schaefer type
transformations are related to other variants of the HS transformation by
deformation of the domain of integration. In particular we clarify the origin
of surprising sign factors which were recently discovered in the case of

Faint HI 21-cm Emission Line Wings at Forbidden-Velocities
We present the results of a search for faint HI 21-cm emission line wings at
velocities forbidden by Galactic rotation in the Galactic plane using the
Leiden/Dwingeloo HI Survey data and the HI Southern Galactic Plane Survey data.
These ``forbidden-velocity wings (FVWs)'' appear as protruding excessive
emission in comparison with their surroundings in limited (< 2 deg) spatial
regions over velocity extent more than ~20 km/s in large-scale (l-v) diagrams.
Their high-velocities imply that there should be some dynamical phenomena
associated. We have identified 87 FVWs. We present their catalog, and discuss
their distribution and statistical properties. We found that 85% of FVWs are
not coincident with known supernova remnants (SNRs), galaxies, or high-velocity
clouds. Their natures are currently unknown. We suspect that many of them are
fast-moving HI shells and filaments associated with the oldest SNRs that are
essentially invisible except via their HI line emission. We discuss other

The genomic Echinococcus microsatellite EmsB sequences: from a molecular marker to the epidemiological tool
In the field of molecular and epidemiological parasitology, characterization of fast evolving genetic markers appears as an important challenge to consider the diversity and genetic structure of parasites. The study of respective populations can help us to understand their adaptive strategies to survive and perpetuate the species within different host populations, all trying to resist infection. In the past, the relative monomorphic features of Echinococcus multilocularis, the causative agent of alveolar echinococcosis and a severe human parasitic disease, did not stimulate studies dealing with the genetic variability of Echinococcus species or respective populations. A recently developed, characterized and validated original multilocus microsatellite, named EmsB, tandemly repeated in the genome, offered an additional opportunity for this line of investigation. We have compiled in this review new insights brought by this molecular tracker on the transmission activity of Echinococcus among different hosts and at different geographical scale
