Natural Regulation of Energy Flow in a Green Quantum Photocell

Manipulating the flow of energy in nanoscale and molecular photonic devices is of both fundamental interest and central importance for applications in light harvesting optoelectronics. Under erratic solar irradiance conditions, unregulated power fluctuations in a light harvesting photocell lead to inefficient energy storage in conventional solar cells and potentially fatal oxidative damage in photosynthesis. Here, we show that regulation against these fluctuations arises naturally within a two-channel quantum heat engine photocell, thus enabling the efficient conversion of varying incident solar spectrum at Earth's surface. Remarkably, absorption in the green portion of the spectrum is avoided, as it provides no inherent regulatory benefit. Our findings illuminate a quantum structural origin of regulation, provide a novel optoelectronic design strategy, and may elucidate the link between photoprotection in photosynthesis and the predominance of green plants on Earth.Comment: 17 pages, 4 figure

Universality of the single-particle spectra of cuprate superconductors

All the available data for the dispersion and linewidth of the single-particle spectra above the superconducting gap and the pseudogap in metallic cuprates for any doping has universal features. The linewidth is linear in energy below a scale ωc\omega_c and constant above. The cusp in the linewidth at ωc\omega_c mandates, due to causality, a "waterfall", i.e., a vertical feature in the dispersion. These features are predicted by a recent microscopic theory. We find that all data can be quantitatively fitted by the theory with a coupling constant λ0\lambda_0 and an upper cutoff at ωc\omega_c which vary by less than 50% among the different cuprates and for varying dopings. The microscopic theory also gives these values to within factors of O(2).Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures; accepted by Phys. Rev. Let

Inheritance law provisions regarding inheritance for widows there are very significant differences between the provisions of the Civil Code and the laws of Islam. Based on the explanation and the above background, the authors are interested in the discussion raised in a scientific study entitled " THE COMPARISON OF LEGACY SHARING FOR THE WIDOW ACCORDING TO CIVIL LAW AND COMPILATION ISLAMIC LAW"Basically, this research aims to achieve a proper understanding of the problems formulated. More specifically, the purpose of the study can be described as follows: First, to determine the position of widows as heirs in inheritance according to the Civil Code and Islamic Legacy Law. Second, to determine the distribution of inheritance to widows based on the Civil Code and Islamic Legacy Law. Third, to determine similarities and differences in the law about the division of inheritance for widows according to the Civil Code and Islamic Legacy Law.. The conclusion is First, Equation Position Widow as heir based based on the Civil Code and is based on Islamic Legacy Law is the class of the priority to be heir, so it is not obstructed heir heirs other than by virtue. Second, the difference, in the Civil Code Widows who do not have children or descendants heir entitled to the entire inheritance. While in Islamic Inheritance Law Widow heir with his parents and brothers heir. The amount of the legacy of the Civil Code for Widow equated with the legitimate child of the head-by-head. While the magnitude of the inheritance to the widow in Islamic inheritance according Islamic Legacy Law sourced from Al Quran has been determined, the 1/4 or 1/8

The technique of slicing Okro using kitchen knife often exposes users to the danger of knife cut and the output of the technique has been found to be low due to the drudgery involved in the process. It was in recognition of the need to reduce drudgery, injury and associated rigors to the user and to enhance quality, hygiene and efficiency in Okro processing that the research of developing a suitable Okro slicing machine was initiated. A simple motorized device was developed for slicing okra using locally available materials which include: bearings, shaft, pulleys, electric motor, cutting blade, rail, bolts and nuts. The slicing mechanism was based on the high shear stress that is generated when a blade edge is brought into contact with fibrous material causing the blade to move in rotary motion and to the direction of the applied force. After coupling and testing the machine, results obtained showed that it takes 3 seconds to slice one Okro using machine while in the case of manual slicing, it takes 8.22 seconds. The device has a slicing efficiency of 66.67%.  The machine has shown to enhance processing of okra in small scale industry application. The machine therefore is of great importance to the industries within the country and beyond where preservation of Okro in sliced and dried form is important
