Contamination Des Laits Importes Au Mali Par La Melamine
Abdominal Pregnancy with Live Fetus at Term at the South N'djamena District Hospital. A Case Study
A case of abdominal pregnancy with live fetus at term was diagnosed in a patient living in the rural area of N'Djamena and who had no follow-up. The laparotomy made it possible to extract a healthy child without any defect. The maternal prognosis was marked by anemia related to cataclysmic hemorrhaging during surgery.Key words: abdominal pregnancy with fetus at term, maternal-fetal prognosis
Cholecystectomy in sickle cell disease patients: Is there more acute chest syndrome after laparoscopy? A case controlled study
AbstractLaparoscopy is increasingly being recommended in order to reduce postoperative complications among sickle cell disease patients undergoing cholecystectomy. Acute chest syndrome is the most deadly of these complications. The purpose of this study was to assess if laparoscopic approach reduces postoperative complications related to sickle cell disease after cholecystectomy. A retrospective study of records of sickle cell patients who underwent cholecystectomy for cholelithiasis, from January 1990 to December 2005 was conducted. 136 sickle cell patients underwent surgery: 47 (34.5%) by laparoscopy and 89 (63.5%) by laparotomy. The mean operative time was 71.4±18.9min in the laparoscopy group and 61.2±15.3min in the laparotomy group (non-significant difference). The mortality was not significantly different between the two groups: one patient died in the open cholecystectomy group but no death occurred in the laparoscopic one. The morbidity related to the sickle cell disease was significantly higher in the laparoscopy group [n=5 (10.5%)] than in the laparotomy group [n=4 (4.5%)] (p=0.04). This difference was associated with a higher rate of acute chest syndrome in the laparoscopy group [n=4 (8, 5%)] compared to that in the laparotomy group [n=1 (1.1%)] (p=0.01). There were more complications related to sickle cell disease in the laparoscopy group due to acute chest syndrome. Thus, these data should be confirmed in further randomized studies which must be undertaken

Antioxidant and anti-hyperglycaemic activity of Euphorbia hirta L. on Wistar rats
The objective of this study was to investigate the antioxidant capacity and anti-hyperglycemic activity of aqueous macerate extracts of Euphorbia hirta L., in the treatment of hypertension associated with diabetes. The research focused on the aqueous maceration of the aerial part or totum. The search and evaluation of the antioxidant activity was done according to the method of Blois based on the reduction of 2,2-diphenyl- - picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The search for antihyperglycaemic activity was performed on rats having received a glucose overdose. This activity was compared to those of glyburide and metformin. The totum showed a percentage inhibition of 63.66 ± 0.54% for 1 mg/mL of extract and an IC50 of 0.031 ± 0.001 μg/mL .A 200 mg/kg extract has shown a very good antihyperglycaemic activity; while on normal blood sugar, the activity was not important compared with glyburide and metformin. These results show the presence of antioxidant and normoglycaemic substances in aqueous macerated of Euphorbia hirta L.Keywords: Anti-hyperglycaemic, antioxidant, Euphorbia hirta, glyburide, metformi
This article suggests a conceptual framework for analyzing the consequences of the recent prices increase on the poorest people in the world. The complexity of mechanisms at work is demonstrated. At the global level, the analysis points out that Sub Saharan Africa exhibits the worst situation but a high diversity exists between nations. Three countries were chosen for an analysis of local markets and households impacts (Cameroon, Mali and Senegal). In Senegal prices transmission on local markets is important and negative impacts on poor households are observed. By contrast domestic prices exhibit very few changes in Mali. Cameroon exhibits an intermediate situation between these two cases.
English title: Agromorphological, chemical and biochemical characterization of Anacardium occidentale L. in Sud Senegal
Food security is one of the major concerns of people around the world. To achieve this, rural populations derive a large part of their food from Non-Wood Forest Products. Anacardium occidentale L., a highly prized agroforestry species, is not to be outdone. However, studies on the food and nutritional value of its nuts are limited and remain fragmented. The objective of this research is to evaluate the nutrient content of raw nuts of Anacardium occidentale L. collected in Ziguinchor, SĂ©dhiou and Kolda. To do this, in each area, three kilograms of nuts were taken at random from different storage locations. Then the measurements were carried out on 450 nuts per provenance. The nuts were then shelled and then subjected to mineral analysis (chemical and biochemical). Univariate and multivariate analysis was performed using XLSTAT 6.0. The analysis showed the existence of variability in characteristics between provenances. A strong, significant but negative correlation was detected between the weight of the almonds and the crude fiber, which would mean that the small almonds are sweeter. Through this study, several possibilities are available to the various players in the cashew value chain
