    EVALUATION OF APPARENT DIGESTIBILITY COEFFICIENTS OF DIFFERENT DIETARY PROTEIN LEVELS WITH AND WITHOUT FISH MEAL FOR LABEO ROHITA

    The apparent digestibility coefficients of three protein levels of reference diets (without fish meal) and test diets (with fish meal) were estimated for Labeo rohita. Three test diets (test diet-I, test diet-II and test diet-III) and three reference diets (reference diet-I, reference diet-II and reference diet-III) having 28, 30 and 32% protein levels were prepared. Chromic oxide was used as an internal marker in the experimental diets for the evaluation of digestibility of protein levels. The differences in apparent digestibility for dry matter, crude protein, crude fat and gross energy of reference and test diets were highly significant (P<0.01). The apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) of dry matter were 32.10 ± 0.30 and 35.30 ± 0.30% for reference and test diets -III. The ADCs of crude protein and crude fat were 77.92 ± 0.10, 69.23 ± 0.06 and 75.77 ± 0.05, 70.40 ± 0.22% for reference and test diets-III, respectively. The values of ADCs of gross energy were maximum for reference diet-III (52.28 ± 0.25%) and test diet-III (48.65 ± 0.78%). The ADCs of dry matter were 19.80 ± 1.40 and 18.15 ± 0.05% for reference and test diet-I. The ADCs of crude protein and crude fat were 73.93 ± 0.05, 68.43 ± 1.58 and 59.49 ± 1.13, 57.02 ± 2.42% for reference and test diet-I respectively. The ADCs values of gross energy were for reference diet-I (42.43 ± 0.36%) and test diet-I (39.09 ± 1.35%). The better ADCs for dry matter, crude protein, crude fat and gross energy were at 32% protein level

    Mutation Analysis of the CYP21A2 Gene in the Iranian Population

    Background: Defects in the CYP21A2 gene cause steroid 21-hydroxylase deficiency, which is the most frequent cause of congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Forty four affected families were investigated to identify the mutation spectrum of the CYP21A2 gene. Methods: Families were subjected to clinical, biochemical, and molecular analyses. Allele-specific polymerase chain reaction amplification was used for eight common mutations followed by dosage analysis to exclude CYP21A2 deletions. Results: The most frequent mutations detected were gene deletions and chimera (31.8). Other mutation frequencies were as follows: Q318X, 15.9; I2G, 14.8; I172N, 5.8; gene duplication, 5.7; R356W, 8; and E6 cluster mutations, 2.3. Direct sequencing of the CYP21A2 gene revealed R316X, P453S, c.484insT, and a change at the start codon. Different modules carried by patients were classified into five different haplotypes. The genotype phenotype correlation (positive predictive value) for group null, A, B, and C were 92.3, 85.7, 100, and 0, respectively. Conclusions: Methods used will be helpful for carrier detection and antenatal diagnosis, especially with inclusion of the multiplex ligation probe dependent amplification technique, which is easier for routine tests in comparison with other methods. Mutation frequencies indicate that Iranians are possible descendants of Asians and Europeans

    Didalam merancang terdapat berbagai cara untuk melakukan pendekatan objek rancang, salah satunya dengan tema, adapun tema yang di pilih ialah Piring, dan objek rancang yang menggunakan pendekatan tersebut ialah Pusat Wisata Kuliner Khas Sidoarjo. Wisata Kuliner ialah suatu tempat yang menampung berbagai macam jenis kegiatan kuliner serta menampung para PKL yang ada di Sidoarjo di dalam satu kawasan kuliner. Pendekatan tema rancangan yang di terapkan pada objek tersebut menggunakan pendekatan Metafora, yaitu combine metaphor. Isu yang di pilih berdasarkan dari tema piring akan diwujudkan melalui bentuk dan penataan ruang luar. Hasil rancangan berupa bangunan yang mengambil karakter dari susunan vertikal piring yang fleksibel, sedangkan bagian ruang luar menggunakan karakter piring sebagai tempat sajian, ruang luar akan di rancang sebagai tempat yang menyajikan tempat kuliner yang menarik

    Longan (Dimocarpus longan L.) is not an indigenous fruit from Indonesia. Thus, the demands for this fruit were supplied by importing them from nearby countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and China. Longan has been cultivated and developed in Indonesia in order to supply the local needs and to reduce the rapid flows of importing Longan. Recently, a brand new breed of local Longan has been engineered from Sleman District of D.I.Yogyakarta Province, known as Kelengkeng Super Sleman (KSS). The KSS well adapted to medium-high above sea level- terrain, the most typical terrain in Sleman. Some prosperous features of this Longan cultivar were had a short harvesting time (2 years), thicky flesh, low water content, and able to be induced twice per year for flowering (to produce fruits). All of this goodness thus been introduced to rural communities of Padukuhan Gejayan, Desa Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman, D.I.Yogyakarta by a well designed community service programme. The kind of activites that was going on in this programme were workshop, training, and assistance. Workshop was emphasized on the prospectous consequences of planting Longan trees (KSS) for a long term until could be developed into local industrial product (One Village One Product/OVOP concept), basic knowledge on Longan diversity, KSS cultivation technology, basic knowledge on plant physiology, environmental development based on Education for Sustainable Development (EfSD), and potential local market for KSS. Training was mainly focused on KSS seedling production by both apical stem grafting method and medium preparation method, KSS plantation in some villager houses for a pilot project on how to maintain KSS such as health evaluation, health recovery for infested or unhealthy plant, method on lateral branching development, method on hormone-induced flowering, and application of resting period for after-harvesting plant. Assistance has been actively conducted during training to motivates villager to be get involved. Some positive indicators for implementation of this programme are both the great enthusiasm on KSS Longan plantation in communities and “the shifting paradigm” on KSS Longan maintenance for which has been long considered to be both impractical and arduous

    A cross-sectional study of Patient satisfaction with care was conducted over a period of 1 year from March 2004 to March 2005 in a secondary-level hospital in a peri-urban area of Karachi, Pakistan. Using the SERVQUAL tool and exit interviews, data were collected quarterly from a total of 1533 Patients. Results sharing and capacity-building workshops were arranged during the 4 phases of the survey to sensitize the staff of the hospital to work towards improving Patient satisfaction. The level of satisfaction of the Patients with the outPatient health services provided showed a gradual increase from 34.4% to 82.0% over the 1-year period

    le traitement non opératoire des contusions de l’abdomen représente une approche thérapeutique nouvelle des traumatismes fermés del’abdomen. La disponibilité d’un plateau technique performant constitue classiquement une des principales conditions pour la réussite de cetteattitude. Nous essayons d’étudier les différents aspects épidémiologiques, diagnostiques et thérapeutiques de cette affection dans le contexte d’unpays en voie de développement, à travers les résultats d’une série de 106 malades. une série de 106 patients est prise en charge par le traitementnon opératoire. La gravité des lésions est appréciée par les données cliniques et paracliniques, ainsi que la morbidité et la mortalité sont analysées. les accidents de la circulation étaient la première cause des contusions abdominales, dans notre contexte. Les lésions hépatiques étaient les plus fréquentes (65% des cas), suivit des lésions spléniques chez 19 patients. La notion de polytraumatisme était très fréquente. La durée moyenne de surveillance était de 9,5 jours. Seize malades étaient transfusés, et le nombre moyen de culots globulaires (CG) était de 3,5 culots par patient. Une laparotomie en urgence était indiquée chez 10 patients (9.4%) devant l’instabilité hémodynamique. Trois malades ont nécessité un traitement chirurgical secondaire. On avait noté un taux de mortalité de 3.7% soit 4 cas. il semble à partir de notre expérience que l’abstention chirurgicale peut constituer, dans des conditions strictes de surveillance, une alternative thérapeutique de référence dans les pays en voie de développement, sûre et justifiée à une chirurgie d’urgence toujours difficile

    Abnormal cellular accumulation of the dicarbonyl metabolite MG (methylglyoxal) occurs on exposure to high glucose concentrations, inflammation, cell aging and senescence. It is associated with increased MG-adduct content of protein and DNA linked to increased DNA strand breaks and mutagenesis, mitochondrial dysfunction and ROS (reactive oxygen species) formation and cell detachment from the extracellular matrix. MG-mediated damage is countered by glutathione-dependent metabolism by Glo1 (glyoxalase 1). It is not known, however, whether Glo1 has stress-responsive up-regulation to counter periods of high MG concentration or dicarbonyl stress. We identified a functional ARE (antioxidant-response element) in the 5'-untranslated region of exon 1 of the mammalian Glo1 gene. Transcription factor Nrf2 (nuclear factor-erythroid 2 p45 subunit-related factor 2) binds to this ARE, increasing basal and inducible expression of Glo1. Activators of Nrf2 induced increased Glo1 mRNA, protein and activity. Increased expression of Glo1 decreased cellular and extracellular concentrations of MG, MG-derived protein adducts, mutagenesis and cell detachment. Hepatic, brain, heart, kidney and lung Glo1 mRNA and protein were decreased in Nrf2-/- mice, and urinary excretion of MG protein and nucleotide adducts were increased approximately 2-fold. We conclude that dicarbonyl stress is countered by up-regulation of Glo1 in the Nrf2 stress-responsive system, protecting protein and DNA from increased damage and preserving cell function
