Legal and professional implications of shared care: a case study in oral anticoagulation stroke prevention therapy.
Policy initiatives and technological advances enable the use of integrated shared care models of healthcare delivery whereby the focus of care is moved from the hospital to the community, and also of models where patients take increasing responsibility for monitoring and treatment. Such shifts may or may be perceived to change professional roles and responsibilities with implications to the delivery of a professionally and legally acceptable standard of care. We focus on oral anticoagulation and stroke prevention therapy to examine some possible professional and legal implications of the increasing use of shared care
Phenomenology of a light scalar: the dilaton
We make use of the language of non-linear realizations to analyze
electro-weak symmetry breaking scenarios in which a light dilaton emerges from
the breaking of a nearly conformal strong dynamics, and compare the
phenomenology of the dilaton to that of the well motivated light composite
Higgs scenario. We argue that -- in addition to departures in the
decay/production rates into massless gauge bosons mediated by the conformal
anomaly -- characterizing features of the light dilaton scenario (as well as
other scenarios admitting a light CP-even scalar not directly related to the
breaking of the electro-weak symmetry) are off-shell events at high invariant
mass involving two longitudinally polarized vector bosons and a dilaton, and
tree-level flavor violating processes. Accommodating both electro-weak
precision measurements and flavor constraints appears especially challenging in
the ambiguous scenario in which the Higgs and the dilaton fields strongly mix.
We show that warped higgsless models of electro-weak symmetry breaking are
explicit and tractable realizations of this limiting case.

holographic realizations of the light dilaton scenario and the actual dynamical

Multiple Object Tracking in Urban Traffic Scenes with a Multiclass Object Detector
Multiple object tracking (MOT) in urban traffic aims to produce the
trajectories of the different road users that move across the field of view
with different directions and speeds and that can have varying appearances and
sizes. Occlusions and interactions among the different objects are expected and
common due to the nature of urban road traffic. In this work, a tracking
framework employing classification label information from a deep learning
detection approach is used for associating the different objects, in addition
to object position and appearances. We want to investigate the performance of a
modern multiclass object detector for the MOT task in traffic scenes. Results
show that the object labels improve tracking performance, but that the output

Genetic diversity and population structure of Caragana microphylla Lam. based on analysis of inter-simple sequence repeat markers
Caragana microphylla Lam. is a long-lived shrub species in the semi-arid, arid and desert regions. To determine the genetic diversity and population structure of C. microphylla Lam., 17 wild populations from the central and eastern part of Inner Mongolia were analyzed by inter-simple sequence repeat. 18 primers produced 296 bands across a total of 510 individuals. A high percentage of polymorphic loci was observed at species level (PPB = 81.4%). Based on analysis of molecular variance, 74.99% of the genetic variation of C. microphylla Lam. was found within population, 7% difference between regions and 15.2% among collection sites within regions. Cluster analyses showed that 17 populations are most arranged in the same cluster by geographic location. An indirect estimate of the GST-derived Nm value (Nm = 1.8921) indicate that gene flow is high among 17 populations. No significant correlation (r2 = 0.13) between genetic and geographic distance was detected. Results of this study suggest that C. microphylla Lam. has a high genetic variability and potential as a source of variation for breeding programs.Key words: Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR), Caragana microphylla Lam., genetic structure
A Feynman integral in Lifshitz-point and Lorentz-violating theories in R<sup>D</sup> ⨁ R<i><sup>m</sup></i>
We evaluate a 1-loop, 2-point, massless Feynman integral ID,m(p,q) relevant for perturbative field theoretic calculations in strongly anisotropic d=D+m dimensional spaces given by the direct sum RD ⨁ Rm . Our results are valid in the whole convergence region of the integral for generic (noninteger) codimensions D and m. We obtain series expansions of ID,m(p,q) in terms of powers of the variable X:=4p2/q4, where p=|p|, q=|q|, p Є RD, q Є Rm, and in terms of generalised hypergeometric functions 3F2(−X), when X<1. These are subsequently analytically continued to the complementary region X≥1. The asymptotic expansion in inverse powers of X1/2 is derived. The correctness of the results is supported by agreement with previously known special cases and extensive numerical calculations
On the Calibration of a Size-Structured Population Model from Experimental Data
The aim of this work is twofold. First, we survey the techniques developed in
(Perthame, Zubelli, 2007) and (Doumic, Perthame, Zubelli, 2008) to reconstruct
the division (birth) rate from the cell volume distribution data in certain
structured population models. Secondly, we implement such techniques on
experimental cell volume distributions available in the literature so as to
validate the theoretical and numerical results. As a proof of concept, we use
the data reported in the classical work of Kubitschek [3] concerning
Escherichia coli in vitro experiments measured by means of a Coulter
transducer-multichannel analyzer system (Coulter Electronics, Inc., Hialeah,
Fla, USA.) Despite the rather old measurement technology, the reconstructed
division rates still display potentially useful biological features
Discrete approaches to quantum gravity in four dimensions
The construction of a consistent theory of quantum gravity is a problem in
theoretical physics that has so far defied all attempts at resolution. One
ansatz to try to obtain a non-trivial quantum theory proceeds via a
discretization of space-time and the Einstein action. I review here three major
areas of research: gauge-theoretic approaches, both in a path-integral and a
Hamiltonian formulation, quantum Regge calculus, and the method of dynamical
triangulations, confining attention to work that is strictly four-dimensional,

Work, stress and play: students’ perceptions of factors impacting on their studies and well‐being
Abstract Introduction This study gathered information about life outside of the course for undergraduates studying at the School of Dentistry, Cardiff University. The aim was to explore how these external factors to the course may affect an individual’s academic performance and well‐being. Materials and Methods A cross‐sectional study design was used. An online questionnaire designed for the purpose of the study was used to capture (quantitative and qualitative) data. Questions with dichotomous options, a range of statements with Likert scales (level of agreement) and open (free‐text) questions were used. Data were analysed in SPSS using simple descriptive statistics and frequency distributions. Spearman’s Rho was used to explore relationships for scaled categorical data. Content analysis was used for qualitative data. Results Two‐thirds (n = 69, 63%) of participants reported being very stressed about their studies in the previous 12 months. The majority felt that external factors to their course (e.g. lack of sleep, health issues, financial concerns, hobbies and issues with friends) had impacted on their academic lives with only 9% (n = 10) stating that their lives outside dentistry had no effect. Discussion Those who felt able to pursue hobbies and activities reported a better work‐life balance and less stress. Questions about pursuing hobbies and sleep may help identify students at risk of being stressed or who may benefit from additional support in order to achieve a better work‐life balance. Conclusion This study has highlighted key areas for further investigation and opportunities for improving support to reduce student stress and improve well‐being
Prevalence and awareness of lower urinary tract symptoms among males in the Outpatient Clinics of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre.
This study aims to determine the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and level of awareness among male outpatients in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC). A questionnaire consisting of demographic data, questions related to knowledge, attitude and practice on BPH and the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) was used for this study. Uroflowmetry and bladder scan were used to evaluate the function of the urinary tract and severity of BPH. Urine dipstick was done for glycosuria, proteinuria and haematuria. A total of 220 respondents were surveyed. The prevalence of moderately and severely symptomatic LUTS was 42.7%. The most commonly reported LUTS were nocturia (78.2%), frequency (58.2%) and incomplete emptying (44.6%). The prevalence of glycosuria, proteinuria and haematuria were 23.6%, 11.4% and 1.8% respectively. There was a significant association between increasing age with the severity of LUTS (p=0.005). Out of 102 respondents with voided urine volume greater than 150 mL, there was a significant decrease in maximum (Qmax) (p=0.039) and average (Qave) urine flow rates with every 10 years increase of age (p=0.001). The majority of respondents (59.5%) have heard of BPH before. Over 78.2% of the respondents would seek medical attention if they have LUTS with 15.9% saying they would seek traditional treatment. In conclusion, the prevalence of LUTS was high and the level of awareness was satisfactory
Magnetic chemically peculiar stars
Chemically peculiar (CP) stars are main-sequence A and B stars with
abnormally strong or weak lines for certain elements. They generally have
magnetic fields and all observables tend to vary with the same period.
Chemically peculiar stars provide a wealth of information; they are natural
atomic and magnetic laboratories. After a brief historical overview, we discuss
the general properties of the magnetic fields in CP stars, describe the oblique
rotator model, explain the dependence of the magnetic field strength on the
