Scaling laws for the elastic scattering amplitude
The partial differential equation for the imaginary part of the elastic
scattering amplitude is derived. It is solved in the black disk limit. The
asymptotical scaling behavior of the amplitude coinciding with the geometrical
scaling is proved. Its extension to preasymptotical region and modifications of
scaling laws for the differential cross section are considered.Comment: 6 p. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1206.547
Limiting fragmentation in heavy-ion collisions and percolation of strings
The observed limiting fragmentation of charged particle distributions in
heavy ion collisions is difficult to explain as it does not apply to the proton
spectrum itself. On the other hand, string percolation provides a mechanism to
regenerate fast particles, eventually compensating the rapidity shift (energy
loss) of the nucleons. However a delicate energy-momentum compensation is
required, and in our framework we see no reason for limiting fragmentation to
be exact. A prediction, based on percolation arguments, is given for the
charged particle density in the full rapidity interval at LHC energy .Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures (2 eps files), late
Transport Coefficient to Trace Anomaly in the Clustering of Color Sources Approach
From our previously obtained shear viscosity to entropy density ratio
() in the framework of clustering of color sources (Color String
Percolation Model: CSPM), we calculate the jet quenching parameter
and trace anomaly as a function of
temperature. It is shown that the scaled is in agreement with
the recent JET Collaboration estimates. The inverse of is found to
represent . The results for are in excellent agreement with
Lattice Quantum Chromo Dynamics (LQCD) simulations. From the trace anomaly and
energy density , the equation of state is obtained as a function of
temperature and compared with LQCD simulations. It is possible that there is a
direct connection between the and . Thus the estimate of
transport coefficient provides and as a function
of temperature. Both and describe the transition from a
strongly coupled QGP to a weakly coupled QGP.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, Accepted for publication in Phys. Rev. C. arXiv

Percolation of strings and the first RHIC data on multiplicity and tranverse momentum distributions
The dependence of the multiplicity on the number of collisions and the
transverse momentum distribution for central and peripheral Au-Au collisions
are studied in the model of percolation of strings relative to the experimental
conditions at RHIC. The comparison with the first RHIC data shows a good
agreement.Comment: RevTeX, 11 pages, 4 eps figures included using epsfi
Addressing Intimate Partner Violence Among Female Clients Accessing HIV Testing and Counseling Services: Pilot Testing Tools in Rakai, Uganda.
The World Health Organization recommends that HIV counseling and testing (HCT) programs implement strategies to address how intimate partner violence (IPV) influences women's ability to protect themselves from and seek care and treatment for HIV infection. We discuss the process used to adapt a screening and brief intervention (SBI) for female clients of HCT services in Rakai, Uganda-a setting with high prevalence of both HIV and IPV. By outlining our collaborative process for adapting and implementing the SBI in Rakai and training counselors for its use, we hope other HCT programs will consider replicating the approach in their settings
Cross-Domain Deep Face Matching for Real Banking Security Systems
Ensuring the security of transactions is currently one of the major
challenges that banking systems deal with. The usage of face for biometric
authentication of users is attracting large investments from banks worldwide
due to its convenience and acceptability by people, especially in cross-domain
scenarios, in which facial images from ID documents are compared with digital
self-portraits (selfies) for the automated opening of new checking accounts,
e.g, or financial transactions authorization. Actually, the comparison of
selfies and IDs has also been applied in another wide variety of tasks
nowadays, such as automated immigration control. The major difficulty in such
process consists in attenuating the differences between the facial images
compared given their different domains. In this work, in addition to collecting
a large cross-domain face dataset, with 27,002 real facial images of selfies
and ID documents (13,501 subjects) captured from the databases of the major
public Brazilian bank, we propose a novel architecture for such cross-domain
matching problem based on deep features extracted by two well-referenced
Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). Results obtained on the dataset collected,
called FaceBank, with accuracy rates higher than 93%, demonstrate the
robustness of the proposed approach to the cross-domain face matching problem
and its feasible application in real banking security systems
Evaluasi Kebijakan Nasionalisasi Pertanahan

Particle production azimuthal asymmetries in a clustering of color sources model
The collective interactions of many partons in the first stage of the
collisions is the usual accepted explanation of the sizable elliptical flow.
The clustering of color sources provides a framework of partonic interactions.
In this scheme, we show a reasonable agreement with RHIC data for pT<1.5 GeV/c
in both the dependence of v2 transverse momentum and in the shape of the
nuclear modified factor on the azimuthal angle for different centralities. We
show the predictions at LHC energies for Pb-Pb. In the case of proton-proton
collisions a sizable v2 is obtained at this energy.Comment: To appear in Journal of Physics
Percolation Effects in Very High Energy Cosmic Rays
Most QCD models of high energy collisions predict that the inelasticity
is an increasing function of the energy. We argue that, due to percolation of
strings, this behaviour will change and, at GeV, the
inelasticity will start to decrease with the energy. This has straightforward
consequences in high energy cosmic ray physics: 1) the relative depth of the
shower maximum grows faster with energy above the knee; 2) the energy
measurements of ground array experiments at GZK energies could be
overestimated.Comment: Correction of equation (19) and figures 3 and 4. 4 pages, 4 figure
