Background: The gastro intestinal is important system in the human body. Many times it is found that its uneasy for student nurses to check the patient. So, there is need to improve the available learning programmes regarding gastro intestinal tract assessment. So, it was necessary to conduct this study for educating student nurses regarding the gastro intestinal tract assessment to improve their knowledge. The objectives of this study were to assess the knowledge of student nurses regarding gastro-intestinal tract assessment and to evaluate the effectiveness of video assisted teaching programme on knowledge regarding gastro intestinal tract assessment. Methods: Material and methods used for the study is the evaluative approach; one group pre test, post test design was used. Study was conducted on sample of 70 student nurses by using convenient sampling technique. The data were collected by structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The mean knowledge score of student nurses during the pre-test was 39.89% where as it had raised up to 72% during the post-test regarding gastro intestinal tract assessment as effectiveness of video assisted teaching programme. Therefore, the difference assessed was 32.11% between pre-test and post-test.Conclusions: There was significant difference between the pre-test knowledge level and post-test knowledge level of student nurses on gastro intestinal tract assessment. Hence health education programs and on-going teaching both can further improve the knowledge of student nurses

The aim of the topic on click chemistry is used to synthesize various derivatives of 1, 2, 3-triazol-1-yl piperazine, 1, 2, 3-triazol-1-yl quinoxaline, one pot 1,2,3-triazole and bistriazole. These various synthesized compounds were biologically active such as antimicrobial, anti-oxidant, anticancer, antiviral, anti HIV and antitubercular activates. The heterocyclic compounds which are pharmacological active were synthesized by the Cu (I)-catalyzed Huisgen 1, 3-dipolar cycloaddition is a major example based on the click chemistry philosophy. The click chemistry in a broad sense is about using easier reactions to make compounds for certain functions of drugs. The click chemistry used as a green synthesis, because it allows the basic principles of green chemistry given by Anastas and Warner

Data Compression Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Network

    Get PDF
In use of wireless sensor network technology for environmental monitoring, the two main fundamental activities of wireless sensor network is data acquisition and data transmission. However, transmitting or receiving data are power consuming task. Wireless sensor network consists of a set of sensor nodes. The processing capacity varies with each node. Sensors in it have storage capacity which is limited. The main challenge today in this field is to improvise the power and energy management of sensor network. Different techniques have been introduced by various researchers. In order to reduce power consumption during transmission, we introduce data compression by processing information locally.             This paper presents the simulation results for RLE method for data compression. The MATLAB GUI model is employed to simulate the RLE method. The simulation result shows that the RLE method can effectively compress the data with minimum power consumption

Objective: Purpose of the study to design and formulate Diclofenac sodium (DIC) microsponges. Methods: With varied polymer: drug ratio DIC loaded microsponges were prepared with Eudragit RS100 polymer by quasi solvent diffusion method. Microsponges evaluated for particle size, entrapment efficiency, drug content, in vitro drug release, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). DIC loaded microsponges incorporated into ocular in situ gel to attained controlled release by microsponge and improved residence time by gelling system. Ocular in situ gel evaluated for pH, drug content determination, gelling capacity, in vitro drug release and sterility study. Results: DSER4 microsponge formulation having polymer to drug ratio 1:7 showed satisfactory production yield (68.13%), entrapment efficiency (62.86%), drug content (80.73%), requisite particle size (less than 10 µm) (7.52 µm) and in vitro release 87.94% after 6 h. Selected DSER4 formulation was incorporate into in situ gel. Carbopol 940 forms stiff gel at higher pH so used as a gelling agent, whereas Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose E4M was used as a viscosity-enhancing agent for the formulation of in situ gel in varied compositions. In situ gel formulation IG4 showed sustained release of 76.92% till the end of 8 h and satisfactory gelling capacity so IG4 further evaluated for sterility test. Rheological studies reveal the sol-gel transition of in situ gel occur at the physiological condition to form stiff gel. Conclusion: Prepared in situ gel formulations showed sustained drug release for a period of 8 h, which is satisfactory for management of ocular pain

pH Dependent Molecular Self-Assembly of Octaphosphonate Porphyrin of Nanoscale Dimensions: Nanosphere and Nanorod Aggregates

    Get PDF
Self-assembled nanostructures of zwitterionic octaphosphanatoporphyrin 1, of either nanoparticles or nanorods, depending on small changes in the pH, is demonstrated based on the J-aggregates. Porphyrin 1 self-assembled into nanosphere aggregates with a diameter of about 70–80 nm in the pH range 5–7, and nanorod aggregates were observed at pH 8.5. Hydrogen bonding, π-π stacking and hydrophilic interactions play important roles in the formation of this nanostructure morphology. Nanostructures were characterized by UV/Vis absorbance, fluorescence, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). This interesting pH dependent self-assembly phenomenon could provide a basis for development of novel biomaterials

Crack Propagation Analysis of Synthetic vs. Steel vs. Hybrid Fibre-Reinforced Concrete Beams Using Digital Image Correlation Technique

Improvement in fracture behaviour of fibre-reinforced concrete (FRC) due to the inclusion of various types and combinations of fibres is widely reported. The fracture behaviour of FRC needs to be fully understood for the optimum use of these fibres in structural elements. Fracture behaviours of synthetic fibre-reinforced concrete (SynFRC), hybrid fibre-reinforced concrete (HFRC) and steel fibre-reinforced concrete (SFRC) are investigated in this study using digital image correlation (DIC) technique. This work focuses on improvement in the structural performance of FRC through a comprehensive study of the change in the crack length, crack opening and fracture process zone (FPZ) due to different fibres addition and their combinations. Three distinct fibre dosages of 0.50%, 0.75%, and 1.00%, of macro-polyolefin fibres, hooked end steel fibres and their hybrid combination are regarded as research parameters. Test outcomes indicate that HFRC offers higher post-cracking resistance when compared to SynFRC. SFRC showcases superior fracture performance than that of HFRC and SynFRC. Full-field strain measurements from DIC are used to measure the crack openings at different load levels during the fracture tests. Results of DIC analysis show good agreement with experimental measurements. Continuous monitoring of strain contours using DIC reveals the effective engagement of fibres along the depth at higher dosages for HFRC when compared to that of SynFRC. Also, HFRC had longer cracks than SFRC at a particular load
