    New targets for resolution of airway remodeling in obstructive lung diseases.

    Airway remodeling (AR) is a progressive pathological feature of the obstructive lung diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The pathology manifests itself in the form of significant, progressive, and (to date) seemingly irreversible changes to distinct respiratory structural compartments. Consequently, AR correlates with disease severity and the gradual decline in pulmonary function associated with asthma and COPD. Although current asthma/COPD drugs manage airway contraction and inflammation, none of these effectively prevent or reverse features of AR. In this review, we provide a brief overview of the features and putative mechanisms affecting AR. We further discuss recently proposed strategies with promise for deterring or treating AR

    Visual outcomes of second surgery LASEK following aborted LASIK surgeries due to flap complications

    Refractive surgery is designed to minimize the need for glasses and/or contact lenses and is often used for convenience, cosmetic or occupational purposes. The two most common types of laser eye surgery are LASIK and LASEK. During LASIK, the first step is the creation of the corneal flap using either a femtosecond laser or a mechanical microkeratome. The femtosecond laser has been seen to create more uniform flaps that reduce the risk of intraoperative and postoperative flap complications compared to the mechanical microkeratome. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect on visual outcomes of second surgery LASEK on patients following aborted LASIK surgeries due to Femtosecond laser flap complications. LASIK was performed as planned and the corneal flap was created by the femtosecond laser but could not be lifted when a surgical cut was made. The procedure was aborted and LASEK was performed within a few weeks to attain the desired vision correction. A total of 14 patients were identified over a 6-year period ranging from 2009-2015. Most patients underwent surface ablation within two weeks of the initial aborted procedure. 12 of the 14 patients had a UCVA of 20/20, while the remaining 2 patients had a UCVA of 20/25 at their last postoperative visit. None of the patients required surgical enhancements despite the flap complications and no major postoperative complications were noted in any of the patients. Provided the corneal flap was well centered and there was no evidence of microstriae or epithelial ingrowth, surface ablation LASEK can be performed within a week of the aborted LASIK procedure to minimize discomfort and trauma to the patient. LASEK is associated with a slightly longer healing time but no evidence of corneal or retinal issues were noted in these patients. None of the patients experienced any significant changes in refraction between surgeries and was thus a reliable indicator of refractive stability following the flap complication. No significant differences were noted with delaying the second surgery LASEK as several patients attained 20/20 vision when it was performed within a week. The most common flap complication was the formation of an incomplete flap that could not be lifted. The cause could not be identified

For this purpose self-learning material is a very useful technique. There are several Self Learning Techniques in which learner can learn by their own pace. In present study researcher made CBPL with the help of computer programme MS Power point. Students of Std-8 of Gujarati medium School of Gujarat were selected for the purpose of research. Purposive sampling was used for smooth work of experiment. After giving treatment to experimental group data was collected with the help of post test and t-test was applied for data analysis. Can the subject “Social Science” be made easier by using CBPL? Is the CBPL similarly effective for students having high and low educational achievement? The investigator has thought about all such crucial questions for undertaking this research. Findings show the effectiveness of CBPL

    Formation of iron nitride thin films with Al and Ti additives

    In this work we investigate the process of iron nitride (Fe-N) phase formation using 2 at.% Al or 2 at.% Ti as additives. The samples were prepared with a magnetron sputtering technique using different amount of nitrogen during the deposition process. The nitrogen partial pressure (\pn) was varied between 0-50% (rest Argon) and the targets of pure Fe, [Fe+Ti] and [Fe+Al] were sputtered. The addition of small amount of Ti or Al results in improved soft-magnetic properties when sputtered using \pn \leq 10\p. When \pn is increased to 50\p non-magnetic Fe-N phases are formed. We found that iron mononitride (FeN) phases (N at% \sim50) are formed with Al or Ti addition at \pn =50% whereas in absence of such addition \eFeN phases (N\pat\sim30) are formed. It was found that the overall nitrogen content can be increased significantly with Al or Ti additions. On the basis of obtained result we propose a mechanism describing formation of Fe-N phases Al and Ti additives.Comment: 9 Pages, 7 Figure

    Intersubband transitions in nonpolar GaN/Al(Ga)N heterostructures in the short and mid-wavelength infrared regions

    This paper assesses nonpolar m- and a-plane GaN/Al(Ga)N multi-quantum-wells grown on bulk GaN for intersubband optoelectronics in the short- and mid-wavelength infrared ranges. The characterization results are compared to those for reference samples grown on the polar c-plane, and are verified by self-consistent Schr\"odinger-Poisson calculations. The best results in terms of mosaicity, surface roughness, photoluminescence linewidth and intensity, as well as intersubband absorption are obtained from m-plane structures, which display room-temperature intersubband absorption in the range from 1.5 to 2.9 um. Based on these results, a series of m-plane GaN/AlGaN multi-quantum-wells were designed to determine the accessible spectral range in the mid-infrared. These samples exhibit tunable room-temperature intersubband absorption from 4.0 to 5.8 um, the long-wavelength limit being set by the absorption associated with the second order of the Reststrahlen band in the GaN substrates

    Dynamic voltage drop depends on the switching activity of the logic compared to static IR drop, and hence it is a vector dependent concept. In this paper we have highlighted the methodology of extraction and modeling of package along with the chip-package static IR drop as well as dynamic IR drop analysis scenarios.A proper structured approach to analyze the impact of package parasitics onto the die is presented, with an emphasis to cover different corners in which IR analysis is impacted, and how it can be implemented in the design cycle. Finally, the impact of package on chip is studied by considering the histogram plots obtained from dynamic IR numbers. Later using all the numbers & plots impact of different packages on chip is realized.Results are from acquired from industrial designs in 65nm process related to the said topics.
