Quantifier les effets du dépérissement et des coupes sanitaires sur la biodiversité des forêts de montagne avec le métabarcoding
National audienceClimate change affects mountain forests by increasing the intensity and frequency of disturbances such as severe and recurrent summer droughts, fires, wind and ice storms and outbreaks of pathogens and insects. As a result, widespread tree mortality has been reported in recent decades. Yet, little is known about the impact of forest decline and associated salvage logging on forest biodiversity. Here we study the ecological impact of mountain forest die-offs and the salvage harvest of Silver fir (Abies alba), by inventorying terrestrial invertebrates, in experimental forest plots, in the French Pyrenees. We will develop a biomonitoring pipeline that uses high-throughput DNA metabarcoding and conducts taxonomic assignment against reference DNA barcode libraries to streamline identification
