Tăul Zânelor from Colibiţa – morphotouristic characterisation

    Get PDF
The Colibiţa cauldron benefits from important attractive resources and represents an area with a touristic vocation, as ever since the beginning of the 19th century and up to the year 1976 a climacteric resort functioned here. Nowadays the local and district authorities stipulate the re-launching of this resort and the optimal capitalization of every attractive resources hereby. Tăul Zânelor is a mountain lake situated in the south-eastern part of the cauldron and, thanks to its morpho-functional features, it represents an attractive objective acknowledged both locally and regionally. In this context, the present study is meant to bring a series of information of a genetic-evolutional order, so as to emphasize the role of the geomorphologic factors in shaping the touristic image of the lake, of the surrounding area and cauldron limits, as well as to imagine future touristic products that rely on the relief’s attractiveness

The Băile Figa geosite (Bistriţa-Năsăud County).Geomorpho-cultural assessment and tourism valorization

Baile Figa is an important tourist location in Bistrita-Nasaud County, known for its salty waters. In 2005, archaeological works in this area have brought to light numerous ancient remains from the Bronze and Iron Age relating to the exploitation and use of salt. In 2009 the City Hall of Beclean opened in Baile Figa an entertainment complex that attracts important tourist flows, given the proximity of the National Road 17 (E 58) and cities Dej, Beclean and Bistrita. In this context, this paper has proposed a geomorpho-cultural assessment of the Baile Figa geosite, to establish its attractive potential and to develop some strategies for planning, valorization and management thereof

The Gorge of Izvorul Calului, upper Gersa Valley, Rodnei Mountains (Bistrița-Năsăud County, Romania)

Gersa Valley is a geomorphological subunit located in the southern part of Rodnei Mountains (Bistrița-Năsăud County) and  contains in the superior sector some landforms with high degree of attractiveness, such as Izvorul Tăușoarelor Cave, Izvorul Calului Gorge and Bârlea Massif. By their configuration these landforms has a great potential for engaging in scientific and recreational activities (caving, hiking, gorge walking, canyoning, mountain biking). This study aims to evaluate the geomorphological parameters of Izvorul Calului Gorge modelated in eocene limestones at the peripheral area of Bârlea Massi

THE GEOMORPHOLOGIC FEATURES OF INTRUSIVE MAGMATIC STRUCTURES FROM BÂRGĂU MOUNTAINS (EASTERN CARPATHIANS, ROMANIA)

Igneous intrusive structures from Bârgău Mountains belong to the group of central Neogene volcanic chain of the Eastern Carpathians of Romania. The evolution of the relief developed on these structures are three main stages: the stage of injection of structures (Pannonian), the stage of uncovering of igneous intrusive bodies from Oligo-Miocene sedimentary cover (Pliocene), and the stage of subaerial modeling of magmatic bodies (Pliocene-current).In those circumstances, the geodiversity of intrusive magmatic structures from Bârgău Mountains is represented by several types of landforms such as: polycyclic landforms (erosional levels), structural landforms (the configuration of igneous intrusive structures), petrographic landforms (andesites, lithological contact), fluvial landforms (valleys, slopes, ridges), periglacial landforms (cryogenic and crionival landforms), biogenic and anthropogenic landforms. This study highlights certain features of the landforms modeled on igneous intrusive bodies with the aim of developing some strategy for tourism recovery by local and county authorities

Geodiversity Audit is an inventory and assessment process, wich represents the basis for elaborating the Geoconservation Action Plan. The geodiversity includes the abiotic factors (rocks, minerals, soils, landforms) that sustain the life on the Earth, and owns economic, social, environmental, tourist and educational functions. This study proposes an audit of geodiversity from Gersa catcment area and an Action Plan for future planning and tourist valorization projects by local and county authorities. The present paper aims at inventorying the geomophosites in Bucharest as well as introducing geotouristic itineraries that take into account the long-time developed high value cultural heritage of the area. The process included several stages: studying Bucharest’s relief and cultural- historical elements with tourist value from existing bibliography, cartographic methods (aerial photos and different editions of topographic maps), as well as the information gathered from field investigations; identifying and inventorying geomorphosites, assessing the population’s opinion about geoheritage (geomorphosites) and its capitalization in tourism activities, 100 questionnaires were applied; creating geotouristic itineraries and later promoting them. The most valuable and representative geomorphosites identified are: on Colentina Valley (the Plumbuita, Ostrov, Dobroeşti and Pantelimon hills) (aren’t located in the study area), on Dâmboviței Valley (Cotroceni, Șerban Vodă, Mitropoliei, Spirii, Filaret and Arsenal hills, Țăcăliei, Procopoaiei, University terraces, Dâmbovița Meadow). The authors suggest two geotouristic itineraries that emphasize the relationship between the scientific, cultural, and historic elements as well as the human-nature report within the urban area

THE EXPLOAITATION OF MOUNTAIN SPACE THROUGH SPORT AND LEISURE ACTIVITIES. CASE STUDIES: THE VIA MARIA THERESIA MARATHON FROM THE CĂLIMANI MOUNTAINS AND THE COLIBIȚA BIKE FEST FROM THE BISTRIȚA ARDELEANĂ GORGE AND THE COLIBIȚA DEPRESSION

The mountain area, through its geographical characteristics, has numerous resources that can be utilized through leisure activities which contribute to the improvement of health and physical condition. Among these activities there are the mountain marathons organized in recent years in numerous locations in the Romanian Carpathians. Such a marathon is the Via Maria Theresia Marathon from the Călimani Mountains organized on a route with historical connotation set in the 18th century under the reign of Empress Maria Theresia and her son, Emperor Josef II. Likewise, there is a mountain bike competition in the Bistrița Ardeleană Gorges which brings together many bikers from all over the country. The present study analyses the geographical conditions which contribute to the organization of these events and their impact on the human body.
