The status of Turkish synchrotron radiation source machine design
Kurtuluş Öztürk, Özgül (Dogus Author) -- Conference full title: 5th International Particle Accelerator Conference: (IPAC 2014); Dresden, Germany, 15 - 20 June 2014Turkish synchrotron radiation source named TURKAY, is a part of the TAC (Turkish Accelerator Center) Project, is at conceptual design process. The radiation properties of a SR sources are strongly depends on the magnetic lattice of the storage ring. The storage ring is designed to obtain low emittance electron beam at 3 GeV energy. Optimization of the lattice properties, including the nonlinear dynamics, is described in detail. Radiation properties are calculated by the example of some existing undulators from the other SR facilities.ALBA - CELLS, American Physical Society Division of Physics of Beams (APS-DPB), Asian Committee for Future Accelerators (ACFA), ASTeC / STFC, Centro Ferm
Final structure & design parameters of TARLA RF system
Doğan, Mehmet Sinan (Dogus Author) -- Conference full title: 5th International Particle Accelerator Conference, IPAC 2014; International Congress Center DresdenDresden; Germany; 15 June 2014 through 20 June 2014Turkish Accelerator and Radiation Laboratory in Ankara (TARLA) is an oscillator mode IR-FEL facility which is under construction since 2011. ELBE licensed superconducting modules housing TESLA RF cavities have been manufacturing for one year and the first module will be delivered in 2015. He Cryogenic System has also started to be manufacturing at similar time with the accelerator structures. It will be delivered in 2014. High Power RF amplifiers are started to tender procedures and delivery time is planning as 2015. The installation of high power transmission lines have to be completed at the same time with the delivery date of HPRF amplifiers to test the cavities and amplifiers. In this study, the final structural design of high power RF transmission lines and design parameters of RF amplifiers for TARLA is discussed
The effect of Vitamin B12 deficiency on the GH-IGF1 axis
Vitamin B12 (B12) deficiency is associated with growth retardation, reduced serum osteocalcin levels, lower bone mineral density, and increased bone fracture risk, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. However, a recent study showed that B12 positively regulates postweaning growth and bone formation via taurine. B12 deficiency causes growth hormone resistance (GH) and IGF1 (Insulin-like growth factor-1) deficiency. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of B12 deficiency on the axis of GH-IGF1 and serum taurine level.

The evaluation of children with monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis for attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder
WOS: 000307300500010PubMed: 22122653Objective. Monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (MNE) and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are multifactorial disorders and biological, social, and psychological factors may play significant roles in the development of both. Children with enuresis display a higher prevalence of ADHD compared to the normal population. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between MNE and ADHD. Methods. A total of 64 children between the ages of 6 and 13 years who were referred due to primary MNE, their parents, and 42 healthy control cases, were evaluated in terms of attention deficit and hyperactivity by a child psychiatrist using the DSM-IV-2000-TR diagnosic scale. Results. Of the children with enuresis, 17 had predominantly inattentive type (26.6%), nine had predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type (14.1%), and eight had combined type (12.5%). In the control group, two cases had predominantly inattentive type (4.8%), two cases had predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type (4.8%), and one had combined type (2.4%). Conclusions. The prevalence of ADHD is higher in children with MNE compared to the normal population. As attention deficit may also negatively effect the treatment of enuresis, children with MNE should be evaluated in terms of attention deficit and those with positive symptoms should be provided with psychosocial support
The importance of fish fatty acids on human health
In this review, it was reviewed the benefit of fish consumption in nutrition regime on human health. While the nutrition is described as a process in which the livings takes and uses the necessary diets from outside in order to grow, develop and continue their life, the healthy nutrition is described as taking adequate and well-balanced diets. Insufficient and unbalanced diets appearing in Third World countries and faced health problems because of American style unbalanced diets attained the unminimized dimension. In recent years, the importance of adequate and well-balanced diets understood and nutritional habits started to be changing. For this reason, recent articles relating to saturated and unsaturated especially poly unsaturated fatty acids which have an impact on human health were able to be reviewed and comprehensively written
