According to the ”Global Index of Religiosity and Atheism” (WIN-Gallup International, 27 July 2012, retrieved 24 August 2012), which was a global 2012 poll, the reports label 59% of the world's population as "religious" and 36% as not religious, including 13% who are atheists, with a 9% decrease in religious belief from 2005. Thereto, religion is an important issue of inherent influence in the media nowadays. Despite the ongoing secularization process that we are facing these days, humans still feel the need to refer to religion within their attempt to construct one’s own outlook on life, and to make some sense out of existence in general (Max Weber, 1920) A comparative content analysis on Mediafax.ro and Agerpres.ro, performed for an almost nine-and-a-half-month time span (1st January to 13th October 2015), showed interesting facts on how press agency journalists relate to religion as a media topic, both in terms of quality (key words and key topics) and in terms of quantity. A comparison between the Orthodox religion of the majority of the Romanians, and other denominations, also accounted for intriguing research findings

The Münchausen Effect and the post-truth era advertising messages: critical analysis on fallacious and enthymematic advertising slogan argumentation

Humans have always been prone to adorning the truth and to producing twisted fallacious arguments in order to sketch a truth (i.e., their own truth) that best suited their interest at a certain time, within certain circumstances. Even more, the communication climate of nowadays has moved from face-to-face communication - that offered a limited kit of means to mold the truth - towards the emerging technology mediated virtual communication that enhances the dressing up and the re-shaping of truth to make the message more appealing to its target public to such an extent that truth loses its substance and may turn into its opposite. Advertising messaging exhibits some contradictory characteristics that are involved in producing what we call and aim at coining here as the Műnchausen Effect. Our research findings have shown that all of the 100 taglines on bestslogans.com relied on enthymematic argumentation and where erroneous in terms of content, all as non sequitur fallacies. However, due to the ambiguity brought about by their elliptical structure (as all of them lacked the conclusion and at least one of the premises), these implicit arguments have proved hard to analyze with regard to the specific kind of fallacies that could hide beyond the missing premise(s), as one could imagine any kind of missing premise(s), where there is an elliptical structure of argumentation. This difficulty that is encountered leaves room to another kind of approach to research in communication, the quantum approach that in critical thinking may have to do with informal logic, and that takes into account creativity and the Umberto Eco idea of opera aperta. We may dwell on such an approach in a further study

Réseaux et stratégies pour la diffusion du cinéma roumain en France de 1950 à 1954

International audienceSince communists came to power in Romania, cinema became an important propagandatool. The government invested largely, in addition to the production field, in the development ofdistribution and exploitation of movies. Whereas the rural area represented the major target, theforeign exportation was the last domain that concern the government. Nevertheless, in the bipolarcontext of cold war, the new Romanian cinema policy promoted by the communists created theconditions for a larger participation, through cinema, at the ideological fight between East and West. This article analyses the resources, the strategies, the networks and the policies ofRomanian political and cultural authorities to distribute, to promote and to make known theRomanian cinema in France at the beginning of the 50s. The main actors of this process are theRomanian legation in Paris and the local relay, the France-Roumanie Association, who showRomanian movies pictures and documentaries during the cultural events they organize. In spite ofthe weak logistical and technical support from Romania and the obstruction of French censorshiptowards the eastern bloc movies, the Romanian films benefit from the tribune that has beenoffered to them by the cultural French press, like “Les lettres fraçaises” and “L’écran français”.Thus, the circulation of Romanian films takes place in the reduced place of communist circles, participating therefore to the cultural confrontation of the cold war

The deaths of new cases of tuberculosis consisted 1/3 . The reasons of the process of the death were belated detection , abandon treatment, development of MDR with progressing process and development of severe complications . 66,3% from deaths took place in the first month after putting in hospital.

A Critical Approach on Using Total Water Footprint of Agricultural Products as a Potential Sustainable Development Indicator

    Get PDF
Measuring sustainable development represents a fundamental issue which requires a complex approach in identifying relevant indicators to capture the global transformations of the contemporary economic paradigm, within the context of increasing globalization and of the integration of markets and economies. The recent evolutions of the environmenta lanalysis enforced total water footprint as a highly popular and core environmental performance indicator. The paper presents a critical approach on using total water footprint of agricultural products as a potential sustainable development indicator from the EU perspective, by applying a specific research method on clustering and concentration. The results prove that total water footprint of the agricultural products is highly country-specific dependent. The uneven distribution shown by grouping of countries and types of agricultural products consumption confirm this argument

Nutritional Traits of Silage Produced from Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) Cultivated Using Conventional Technology versus Organic Technology in Support of Higher Dairy Productions

    Get PDF
As consequence of increasing need of higher livestock productions, in conditions of assuring environmental sustainability, comparative tests of properties of forages obtained by application of conventional technologies compared with those obtained as result of organic practices, may be useful. Thus our trial covers issues concerning comparative study of nutritional traits, expresses through chemical composition indices, of silage obtained from alfalfa resulted from two types of cultivation technologies, conventional, and organic, respectively. The experiment was carried out in a familiar farm located near Huedin, County of Cluj, Romania. Higher contents of dry matter, acid detergent fibre, and ammonia are reported in silage obtained from alfalfa cultivated in organic technology, compared to silage obtained from alfalfa conventionally produced. The ammonia content of silage obtained from alfalfa cultivated using conventional technology, reported as % from dry matter, is the single chemical index where high diversity within individual values was identified. Correlations of similar intensities were identified between the indices of the chemical composition of the silage obtained from both, conventionally and organic, cultivated alfalfa. The alfalfa cultivated in organic system promotes higher amounts of crude protein, neutral detergent fibre, and total volatile fatty acids, in alfalfa silage

A rare case of pituitary macroadenoma with synchronous suprasellar meningioma.: Case report, surgical strategy and review of literature

Synchronous tumours can be found all along the entire neuraxis, however, some lesions are far less likely to coexist. One of these extremely rare associations is between GH-pituitary adenomas and suprasellar meningiomas. A wide spectrum of transcranial and transsphenoidal approaches were described in the literature for either sellar, suprasellar and parasellar lesions, but no agreement has been reached for the cases of simultaneous occurring lesions. We present a rare case of a woman with GH-secreting pituitary adenoma and concomitant suprasellar meningioma. The strategy chosen was sequential transsphenoidal surgeries. However, after the first surgery, the remaining tumour mass did not mobilize as expected due to gravity, hence we decided to perform a transcranial subfrontal unilateral approach. Surprisingly, the second surgery revealed a different histopathological result. Association of a GH-pituitary adenoma and suprasellar meningioma is very rare, only 17 cases being reported in the relevant literature so far.  Different authors prefer different strategies, ranging from only transsphenoidal to simultaneous transsphenoidal and transcranial approaches, but no general consensus was established. In conclusion, the existence of synchronous tumours of the sellar region should be taken into account when imaging studies reveal an intracranial mass developing both sellar and suprasellar. The surgical strategy should be tailored to every specific patient and experience of the neurosurgeon
