Study of π0\pi^0 pair production in single-tag two-photon collisions

We report a measurement of the differential cross section of π0\pi^0 pair production in single-tag two-photon collisions, γγπ0π0\gamma^* \gamma \to \pi^0 \pi^0, in e+ee^+ e^- scattering. The cross section is measured for Q2Q^2 up to 30 GeV2^2, where Q2Q^2 is the negative of the invariant mass squared of the tagged photon, in the kinematic range 0.5 GeV < W < 2.1 GeV and cosθ|\cos \theta^*| < 1.0 for the total energy and pion scattering angle, respectively, in the γγ\gamma^* \gamma center-of-mass system. The results are based on a data sample of 759 fb1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+ e^- collider. The transition form factor of the f0(980)f_0(980) and that of the f2(1270)f_2(1270) with the helicity-0, -1, and -2 components separately are measured for the first time and are compared with theoretical calculations.Comment: 36 pages, 37 figures, 11 tables, Belle Preprint 2015-15, KEK Preprint 2015-2

    Observation of B0pΛˉD()B^{0} \rightarrow p\bar{\Lambda} D^{(*)-}

We report the first observation of the decays B0pΛˉD()B^0 \rightarrow p\bar{\Lambda} D^{(*)-}. The data sample of 711711 fb1^{-1} used in this analysis corresponds to 772772 million BBˉB\bar{B} pairs, collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^{+}e^{-} collider. We observe 19.8σ19.8\sigma and 10.8σ10.8\sigma excesses of events for the two decay modes and measure the branching fractions of B0pΛˉDB^0 \rightarrow p\bar{\Lambda} D^{-} and B0pΛˉDB^0 \rightarrow p\bar{\Lambda} D^{*-} to be (25.1±2.6±3.5)×106(25.1\pm2.6\pm3.5)\times10^{-6} and (33.6±6.3±4.4)×106(33.6\pm6.3\pm4.4)\times10^{-6}, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are not compatible with the predictions based on the generalized factorization approach. In addition, a threshold enhancement in the di-baryon (pΛˉp\bar{\Lambda}) system is observed, consistent with that observed in similar BB decays.Comment: 16 pages, 3 figures and 3 tables, submitted to PR

Inclusive study of bottomonium production in association with an η\eta meson in e+ee^+e^- annihilations near Υ(5S)\Upsilon(5S)

    Get PDF
We study bottomonium production in association with an η\eta meson in e+ee^+e^- annihilations near the Υ(5S)\Upsilon(5S), at a center of mass energy of s=10.866\sqrt{s}=10.866\,GeV. The results are based on the 121.4121.4\,fb1^{-1} data sample collected by the Belle experiment at the asymmetric energy KEKB collider. Only the η\eta meson is reconstructed and the missing-mass spectrum of η\eta candidates is investigated. We observe the e+eηΥJ(1D)e^+e^-\to\eta\Upsilon_J(1D) process and find evidence for the e+eηΥ(2S)e^+e^-\to\eta\Upsilon(2S) process, while no significant signals of Υ(1S)\Upsilon(1S), hb(1P)h_b(1P), nor hb(2P)h_b(2P) are found. Cross sections for the studied processes are reported.Comment: Submitted to EPJ-

Measurement of branching fraction and direct CPCP asymmetry in charmless B+K+Kπ+B^+ \to K^+K^- \pi^+ decays at Belle

We report a study of the charmless hadronic decay of the charged BB meson to the three-body final state K+Kπ+K^+ K^- \pi^+. The results are based on a data sample that contains 772×106772\times10^6 BBˉB \bar{B} pairs collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+ e^- collider. The measured inclusive branching fraction and the direct CPCP asymmetry are (5.38±0.40±0.35)×106(5.38\pm0.40\pm0.35)\times 10^{-6} and 0.170±0.073±0.017-0.170\pm0.073\pm0.017, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The K+KK^{+}K^{-} invariant mass distribution of the signal candidates shows an excess in the region below 1.51.5 GeV/c2c^2, which is consistent with the previous studies from BaBar and LHCb. In addition, strong evidence of a large direct CPCP asymmetry is found in the K+KK^{+}K^{-} low-invariant-mass region.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure

We search for CPCP violation in the charged charm meson decay D+π+π0D^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{0}, based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 921 fb1\rm 921~fb^{-1} collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+ee^{+}e^{-} asymmetric-energy collider. The measured CPCP violating asymmetry is [+2.31±1.24(stat)±0.23(syst)]%[+2.31\pm1.24({\rm stat})\pm0.23({\rm syst})]\%, which is consistent with the standard model prediction and has a significantly improved precision compared to previous results.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure

Measurement of the Branching Fraction of the Decay B+π+π+ν\boldsymbol{B^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\ell^{+}\nu_\ell} in Fully Reconstructed Events at Belle

    Get PDF
We present an analysis of the exclusive B+π+π+νB^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\ell^{+}\nu_{\ell} decay, where \ell represents an electron or a muon, with the assumption of charge-conjugation symmetry and lepton universality. The analysis uses the full Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) data sample collected by the Belle detector, corresponding to 711 fb1^{-1} of integrated luminosity. We select the events by fully reconstructing one BB meson in hadronic decay modes, subsequently determining the properties of the other BB meson. We extract the signal yields using a binned maximum-likelihood fit to the missing-mass squared distribution in bins of the invariant mass of the two pions or the momentum transfer squared. We measure a total branching fraction of B(B+π+π+ν)=[22.71.6+1.9(stat)±3.5(syst)]×105{{\cal B}(B^{+}\to \pi^{+}\pi^{-}\ell^{+}\nu_{\ell})= [22.7 ^{+1.9}_{-1.6} (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 3.5(\mathrm{syst}) ]\times 10^{-5}}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. This result is the first reported measurement of this decay.Comment: 23 pages, 19 figure

    Angular analysis of B0K(892)0+B^0 \to K^\ast(892)^0 \ell^+ \ell^-

We present a measurement of angular observables, P4P_4', P5P_5', P6P_6', P8P_8', in the decay B0K(892)0+B^0 \to K^\ast(892)^0 \ell^+ \ell^-, where +\ell^+\ell^- is either e+ee^+e^- or μ+μ\mu^+\mu^-. The analysis is performed on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711 fb1711~\mathrm{fb}^{-1} containing 772×106772\times 10^{6} BBˉB\bar B pairs, collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collider KEKB. Four angular observables, P4,5,6,8P_{4,5,6,8}' are extracted in five bins of the invariant mass squared of the lepton system, q2q^2. We compare our results for P4,5,6,8P_{4,5,6,8}' with Standard Model predictions including the q2q^2 region in which the LHCb collaboration reported the so-called P5P_5' anomaly.Comment: Conference paper for LHC Ski 2016. Measurement of the τ\tau lepton polarization and R(D)R(D^*) in the decay BˉDτνˉτ\bar{B} \rightarrow D^* \tau^- \bar{\nu}_\tau with one-prong hadronic τ\tau decays at Belle

    Get PDF
    With the full data sample of 772×106772 \times 10^6 BBˉB{\bar B} pairs recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider, the decay BˉDτνˉτ\bar{B} \rightarrow D^* \tau^- \bar{\nu}_\tau is studied with the hadronic τ\tau decays τπντ\tau^- \rightarrow \pi^- \nu_\tau and τρντ\tau^- \rightarrow \rho^- \nu_\tau. The τ\tau polarization Pτ(D)P_\tau(D^*) in two-body hadronic τ\tau decays is measured, as well as the ratio of the branching fractions R(D)=B(BˉDτνˉτ)/B(BˉDνˉ)R(D^{*}) = \mathcal{B}(\bar {B} \rightarrow D^* \tau^- \bar{\nu}_\tau) / \mathcal{B}(\bar{B} \rightarrow D^* \ell^- \bar{\nu}_\ell), where \ell^- denotes an electron or a muon. Our results, Pτ(D)=0.38±0.51(stat)0.16+0.21(syst)P_\tau(D^*) = -0.38 \pm 0.51 {\rm (stat)} ^{+0.21}_{-0.16} {\rm (syst)} and R(D)=0.270±0.035(stat)0.025+0.028(syst)R(D^*) = 0.270 \pm 0.035{\rm (stat)} ^{+0.028}_{-0.025}{\rm (syst)}, are consistent with the theoretical predictions of the Standard Model. The polarization values of Pτ(D)>+0.5P_\tau(D^*) > +0.5 are excluded at the 90\% confidence level.Comment: 17 pages, 11 figures, submitted to Physical Review

Measurement of eta_c(1S), eta_c(2S) and non-resonant eta' pi+ pi- production via two-photon collisions

We report the measurement of gamma gamma to eta_c(1S), eta_c(2S) to eta' pi+ pi- with eta' decays to gamma rho and eta pi+ pi- using 941 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. The eta_c(1S) mass and width are measured to be M = [2984.6\pm0.7 (stat.)\pm2.2 (syst.)] MeV/c^{2} and \Gamma = [30.8^{+2.3}_{-2.2}~(stat.) \pm 2.5~(syst.)] MeV, respectively. First observation of eta_c(2S) to eta' pi+ pi- with a significance of 5.5sigma including systematic error is obtained, and the eta_c(2S) mass is measured to be M = [3635.1\pm3.7~(stat.)\pm2.9~(syst.)] MeV/c^{2}. The products of the two-photon decay width and branching fraction (B) of decays to eta'pi+ pi- are determined to be \Gamma_{gamma gamma}B = [65.4\pm2.6~(stat.)\pm6.9~(syst.)] eV for eta_c(1S) and [5.6^{+1.2}_{-1.1}~(stat.)\pm1.1~(syst.)] eV for eta_c(2S). A new decay mode for the eta_c(1S) to eta'f_0(2080) with f_0(2080) to pi+ pi- is observed with a statistical significance of 20sigma. The f_0(2080) mass and width are determined to be M = [2083^{+63}_{-66}~(stat.)\pm 32~(syst.)] MeV/c^{2} and \Gamma = [178^{+60}_{-178}~(stat.) \pm 55~(syst.)] MeV. The cross sections for gamma gamma to eta' pi+ pi- and eta'f_{2}(1270) are measured for the first time.Comment: 19 pages, 14 figure
