PERAN PERPUSTAKAAN DIGITAL DALAM MENCIPTAKAN RUANG PUBLIK (STUDI KASUS PERPUSTAKAAN DIGITAL UNIVERSITAS LAMPUNG)

The purpose of this study is to find out how the information age community understands digital public space and how the role of the University of Lampung's digital library in creating virtual public spaces. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. This research builds on the critical theory of public space proposed by Jurgen Habermas and Henry Lefebvre. Data collection through literature study and interviews. Data analysis includes three stages namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the public space in the information society is interpreted as a space where there is an infinite process of interaction. The role of the University of Lampung's digital library in creating public spaces includes (1) Providing freedom of access to systems and content, (2) giving freedom of expression to users through communication facilities between users and managers (3) Providing equality for anyone to access and utilize digital library applications The University of Lampung (4) has a legal umbrella in managing digital libraries (5) has a shared commitment to turn the University of Lampung's digital library into an ideal public space. Keywords: Digital Library, Public Spaces, Information Society.

CURATION AND MANAGEMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE THROUGH LIBRARIES

Libraries, museums and archives hold valuable collections in a variety of media, presenting a vast body of knowledge rooted in the history of human civilisation. These form the repository of the wisdom of great works by thinkers of past and the present. The holdings of these institutions are priceless heritage of the mankind as they preserve documents, ideas, and the oral and written records. To value the cultural heritage and to care for it as a treasure bequeathed to us by our ancestors is the major responsibility of libraries. The past records constitute a natural resource and are indispensable to the present generation as well as to the generations to come. Libraries preserve the documentary heritage resources for which they are primarily responsible. Any loss of such materials is simply irreplaceable. Therefore, preserving this intellectual, cultural heritage becomes not only the academic commitment but also the moral responsibility of the librarians/information scientists, who are in charge of these repositories. The high quality of the papers and the discussion represent the thinking and experience of experts in their particular fields. The contributed papers also relate to the methodology used in libraries in Asia to provide access to manuscripts and cultural heritage. The volume discusses best practices in Knowledge preservation and how to collaborate and preserve the culture. The book also deals with manuscript and archives issues in the digital era. The approach of this book is concise, comprehensively, covering all major aspects of preservation and conservation through libraries. The readership of the book is not just limited to library and information science professionals, but also for those involved in conservation, preservation, restoration or other related disciplines. The book will be useful for librarians, archivists and conservators. Peran pustakawan sebagai mitra pendamping penulisan karya tulis ilmiah mahasiswa universitas muhammadiyah magelang

The academic librarians have now penetrated into academic activities, namely becoming research partners of the academic community. The librarian's job is no longer just to borrow and return books. However, librarians can also provide mentoring services for the preparation of scientific papers based on partnerships with students and lecturers. The purpose of this study is to (1) inform the existence of academic writing guidance service. with librarians at the University of Muhammadiyah Magelang, (2) find out the urgency of academic writing guidance service. in libraries, (3) the mechanism of library academic writing guidance service., and (4) the informant's response to the academic writing guidance service.. The type of data in this study is descriptive qualitative with data sources from interviews, questionnaires, and document studies. Research informants were 7 people consisting of 1 lecturer and 6 students. The results showed that; (1) Academic writing guidance service. with librarians are very helpful for lecturers and students in preparing theses, (2) librarians are very clear, detailed, and responsive in providing guidance, and (3) Academic writing guidance service. are very important and needed for students to Academic Writing becomes structured and systematic. Suggestions given by informants for academic writing guidance service. to improve service promotion and form mentoring WhatsApp groups
