Semiclassical Propagation of Coherent States for the Hartree equation
In this paper we consider the nonlinear Hartree equation in presence of a
given external potential, for an initial coherent state. Under suitable
smoothness assumptions, we approximate the solution in terms of a time
dependent coherent state, whose phase and amplitude can be determined by a
classical flow. The error can be estimated in by C \sqrt {\var}, \var
being the Planck constant. Finally we present a full formal asymptotic
expansion
Rogue waves 2000.- Brest, 29-30 november 2000
There are now many evidences that some waves do significantly exceed the common height and steepness expectations that can be derived from existing models. A better understanding of why, how, and when these huge waves occur should thus be a research priority. The Brest ROGUE WAVES 2000 workshop gathered many of the scientists and engineers actively working on the subject to an opportunity to confront and discuss their most recent advances concerning the definition, statistics, modeling and prediction of those abnormal waves.C'est aujourd'hui une certitude que certaines vagues outrepassent en hauteur et en cambrure les prédictions fondées sur les modèles courants. L'amélioration de la compréhension des raisons, des mécanismes, et des circonstances de leur apparition se doit donc d'être une priorité de recherche. Le colloque Rogue Waves 2000 a rassemblé à Brest nombre des sçientifiques et ingénieurs actifs sur le sujet, qui y ont trouvé l'occasion de confronter et discuter leurs avancées les plus récentes en termes de définition, de statistiques, de modélisation et de prédiction de ces vagues anormales

Coupled mode and finite element approximations of underwater sound propagation problems in general stratified environments
We compare the results of a coupled mode method with those of a finite element method and also of COUPLE on two test problems of sound propagation and scattering in cylindrically symmetric, underwater, multilayered acoustic waveguides with range-dependent interface topographies. We observe, in general, very good agreement between the results of the three codes. In some cases in which the frequency of the harmonic point source is such that an eigenvalue of the local vertical problem remains small in magnitude and changes sign several times in the vicinity of the interface nonhomogeneity, the discrepancies between the results of the three codes increase, but remain small in absolute terms. © 2008 IMACS
Young Researchers Advancing Computational Science: Perspectives of the Young Scientists Conference 2015
We present an annual international Young Scientists Conference (YSC) on computational science http://ysc.escience.ifmo.ru/, which brings together renowned experts and young researchers working in high-performance computing, data-driven modeling, and simulation of large-scale complex systems. The first YSC event was organized in 2012 by the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands and ITMO University, Russia with the goal of opening a dialogue on the present and the future of computational science and its applications. We believe that the YSC conferences will strengthen the ties between young scientists in different countries, thus promoting future collaboration. In this paper we briefly introduce the challenges the millennial generation is facing; describe the YSC conference history and topics; and list the keynote speakers and program committee members. This volume of Procedia Computer Science presents selected papers from the 4th International Young Scientists Conference on Computational Science held on 25 June − 3 July 2015 in Athens, Greece
