    Enterprise Architecture Approach for Project Management and Project-Based Organizations: A Review

    Project-based organizations (PBOs) derive income from conducting projects for their clients. Maintaining the most effective and efficient project governance style is an ongoing process for these organizations as the context continuously changes. Enterprise architecture (EA) is a systemic approach that supports organizations in modeling and describing themselves in different layers, such as strategy, business, application, and technology. This literature review describes the current state of EA usage in improving and quickly revising project management governance in PBOs to benefit practitioners and researchers for an integrated view of EA, PM, and PBO, and identification of future research gaps. This review used an EA model composed of layers as an analytical framework. The extracted bibliometric and content data from selected articles were processed using the VOSviewer tool for identifying and understanding the relationships between main concepts through network mapping. The selected articles are oriented to internal organization projects, mainly in information technology (IT). The need to align projects with business is highlighted, with EA positioned as a governance tool. It was found that application of EA in PBOs is rare. A trend toward using popular PM and EA frameworks, such as PMBOK and ArchiMate, was observed

    El presente trabajo tiene como propósito determinar el impacto de los movimientos migratorios internos que se realizan desde la Costa Abajo hacia la ciudad de Colón, Caso: Palmas Bellas, para ello el estudio tiene como objetivo ofrecer un diagnóstico geográficos y socioeconómicos del corregimiento; igualmente, analizar las principales causas que originan los movimientos migratorios; hasta reconocer los problemas que originan el abandono de la comunidad. En este orden de ideas, la investigación se fundamentó, principalmente en una investigación de campo realizada dentro de los distintos lugares poblados que conforman el corregimiento de Palmas Bellas toda vez que la investigación es de tipo descriptivo. La investigación documental estuvo basada en la consulta de diferentes fuentes escritas entre las que sobresalen libros de distintos autores que abordan la problemática sobre los movimientos migratorios en distintos ámbitos geográficos. El estudio realizado, nos permitió concluir que la mayoría de las personas que emigran e inmigran dentro del corregimiento de Palmas Bellas están motivadas principalmente por el interés de mejorar sus condiciones de vida a través de la búsqueda de un empleo remunerado y mejorar el nivel de enseñanza de los miembros del hogar.     Connexin-36 protects against suddent infant death syndrome

    The sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is the main cause of postneonatal infant death; however the etiology of SIDS remains ill defined. The hypothesis that SIDS, or a subset of SIDS, is due to an abnormal brainstem mechanism is one of the current leading hypotheses on SIDS etiology. The brainstem is essential for cardiac and respiratory function, controlling autonomic and homeostatic responses including breathing, central chemosensitivity, heartbeat and blood pressure, all mechanisms that are thought to be involved in SIDS. Connexin-36 (Cx36), the principal component of neuron-to-neuron channels that form the electrical synapses, is present in the specific neural populations of brainstem region involved in the CO2 chemoreception and respiratory control, and its expression is unregulated during this critical period of life. Accordingly, we postulate that Cx36 would be a key element in the pathogenesis of SIDS. To address this issue we have studied how the genetic suppression of Cx36 expression affects to the respiratory pacemaker, central chemoreflexes, cardiorespiratory coupling, and risk for SIDS. Mice lacking Cx36 at postnatal day 14 showed in comparison with control wild-type greater variability in the respiratory rhythmicity, abnormally enhanced ventilatory responses to hypoxia and hypercapnia, more cardiorespiratory phase synchronization and less respiratory sinus arrhythmia. A combination of low O2 and high CO2 content in inspired air was used as exogenous stressor of SIDS; under these conditions all wild-type mice survived while the 40% of Cx36-knockout animals succumbed by respiratory failure

    Physical education at preschools: practitioners’ and children’s engagements with physical activity and health discourses

We examine the ways in which the participants engaged with discourses related to physical activity and health in order to construct their subjectivities. Fourteen practitioners and 70 children participated. Research methods employed were observations, interviews with adults, a group drawing and discussion activity with children, and interviews with children. Both the adults’ and children’s talk illustrated the dominance of neoliberal, healthism meanings which position individuals as responsible for their own health. While the children’s talk primarily centred on health as a corporeal notion, the practitioners tended to talk about physical activity and health in both corporeal terms and in relation to the self more holistically. The practitioners also talked about physical activity as a means of regulating children’s behaviour

    Prochilodus magdalenae es la principal especie pesquera continental y la cuarta cultivada en Colombia. En su ambiente natural se reproduce en el cauce principal de los ríos, en el período lluvioso y lo hace una sola vez al año. No se reproduce en confinamiento por lo que la obtención de semillas para los programas de repoblamiento y fomento piscícola se obtienen mediante inducciones hormonales, principalmente con extracto pituitario de carpa (EPC). Para mantener la oferta de alevinos durante gran parte del año algunas estaciones productoras de semillas en la región inducen a una misma hembra por lo general dos veces al año. No se conocen estudios evaluando y comparando el desempeño reproductivo entre la primera y la segunda inducción hormonal.     Antimicrobial-producing Pseudoalteromonas from the marine environment of Panama shows a high phylogenetic diversity and clonal structure

    Pseudoalteromonas is a genus of marine bacteria often found in association with other organisms. Although several studies have examined Pseudoalteromonas diversity and their antimicrobial activity, its diversity in tropical environments is largely unexplored. We investigated the diversity of Pseudoalteromonasin marine environments of Panama using a multilocus phylogenetic approach. Furthermore we tested their antimicrobial capacity and evaluated the effect of recombination and mutation in shaping their phylogenetic relationships. The reconstruction of clonal relationships among 78 strains including 15 reference Pseudoalteromonas species revealed 43 clonal lineages, divided in pigmented and non-pigmented strains. In total, 39 strains displayed moderate to high activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Linkage disequilibrium analyses showed that the Pseudoalteromonas strains of Panama have a highly clonal structure and that, although present, recombination is not frequent enough to break the association among alleles. This clonal structure is in contrast to the high rates of recombination generally reported for aquatic and marine bacteria.We propose that this structure is likely due to the symbiotic association with marine invertebrates of most strains analyzed.     Operating conditions of lead-acid batteries in the optimization of hybrid energy systems and microgrids

    The promotion and deployment of storage technologies in autonomous and grid-connected systems plays a relevant part in the massive integration of renewable power sources required for the worldwide development of a sustainable society. In this regard, analyzing the behavior of electrochemical storage devices such as lead-acid batteries installed on hybrid energy systems and microgrids in terms of their lifetime and economic profitability is an important research topic. Since renewable generation is characterized by its random nature, lead-acid batteries typically work under stress conditions, which directly influence their lifetime in a negative way by increasing the net present cost. Due to the fast growing of renewable sources as a consequence of governmental policies and incentives, the number of manufacturers to be considered worldwide is becoming really high, so that optimization techniques such as genetic algorithms (GAs) are frequently used in order to consider the performance of a high number of manufacturers of wind turbines, photovoltaic panels and lead-acid batteries subject to the environmental conditions of the location under analysis to determine a cost-effective design. In this paper, GA method combined with weighted Ah ageing model is improved by including expert experiences by means of stress factors and the categorization of operating conditions, as a new contribution to earlier studies. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by analyzing a hybrid energy system to be installed in Zaragoza, Spain, resulting in a near-optimal design in a reduced computational time compared to the enumerative optimization method
