    Self-efficacy and readiness to change to physical activity in college students

    The aim of this research was to identify the association between perceived self-efficacy and readiness to change and their relationship with physical activity. 199 random-selected undergraduate students participated in the study. Participants answered a set of questionnaires measuring self-efficacy about physical exercise, readiness to change, general health, attitude regarding physical activity, and self-reported physical activity. Results showed significant bivariate associations between physical activity and independent variables. Using a multivariate model, only readiness to change was significant, associated with physical activity. Results suggest that readiness to change is the most important variable in association with self-reported physical activity.El propósito de esta investigación fue identificar la asociación entre la autoeficacia percibida y la disposición al cambio y su relación con la realización de actividad física. Participaron 199 estudiantes universitarios elegidos aleatoriamente. Se aplicaron un cuestionario de Autoeficacia, un algoritmo para evaluar la Disposición al Cambio, el cuestionario General de Salud (CGS), un Cuestionario de Actividad Física y uno sobre actitud hacia ésta. Los resultados mostraron asociaciones bivariadas significativas entre la actividad física y las variables independientes. En un modelo multivariado, solamente la etapa de cambio se asoció significativamente con la actividad física. Se concluye que la disposición al cambio es la variable más relevante en la asociación con la actividad física auto-reportada

    Design and implementation of wireless sensor network with LoRa technology for industrial monitoring

    El creciente desarrollo del Internet de las Cosas (IoT, Internet of Things) ha diversificado sus campos de aplicación, mejorando no solo la interconexión de personas, sino también, la comunicación entre maquinaria industrial (M2M, Machine-to-Machine), en las que sus características en alcance, escalabilidad y bajo costo de despliegue, pueden ser aprovechadas. Las tecnologías LoRa y LoRaWAN se muestran como una de las principales opciones de comunicación inalámbrica de bajo costo en la integración de sistemas industriales con mira a los nuevos requerimientos de la Industria 4.0. En este trabajo se realizó una campaña de mediciones y el análisis de los datos obtenidos, para evaluar el comportamiento y la aplicabilidad de las tecnologías LoRa y LoRaWAN dentro de ambientes industriales. Para contrastar los resultados, se realizaron pruebas en ambientes urbanos despejados, donde se observó que las condiciones dentro de las naves industriales, permiten establecer un enlace con condiciones de radio frecuencia favorables. Inicialmente se han considerado escenarios de corto alcance (<100 m) en los que se mantiene una línea de vista entre el transmisor y el receptor.The growing development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has diversified its fields of application, improving not only the interconnection of people but as well the communication between industrial machinery (M2M, Machine-to-Machine), in which its features in range, scalability, and low cost of deployment can be taken advantage of. LoRa and LoRaWAN technologies are presented as one of the main low-cost wireless communication options in the integration of industrial systems with a view to the new requirements of Industry 4.0. In this work, a measurement campaign and the analysis of the data obtained were performed to evaluate the behavior and applicability of LoRa and LoRaWAN technologies within industrial environments.     Supramolecular associations between atypical oxidative phosphorylation complexes of Euglena gracilis

    In vivo associations of respiratory complexes forming higher supramolecular structures are generally accepted nowadays. Supercomplexes (SC) built by complexes I, III and IV and the so-called respirasome (I/III2/IV) have been described in mitochondria from several model organisms (yeasts, mammals and green plants), but information is scarce in other lineages. Here we studied the supramolecular associations between the complexes I, III, IV and V from the secondary photosynthetic flagellate Euglena gracilis with an approach that involves the extraction with several mild detergents followed by native electrophoresis. Despite the presence of atypical subunit composition and additional structural domains described in Euglena complexes I, IV and V, canonical associations into III2/IV, III2/IV2 SCs and I/III2/IV respirasome were observed together with two oligomeric forms of the ATP synthase (V2 and V4). Among them, III2/IV SC could be observed by electron microscopy. The respirasome was further purified by two-step liquid chromatography and showed in-vitro oxygen consumption independent of the addition of external cytochrome c

    Nuestra zona de estudio, el Noreste del Departamento de Lavalle en la Provincia de Mendoza, es una zona árida propia del borde oriental de la Cordillera de Los Andes. Sólo es productivo un pequeño porcentaje de la superficie total, gracias a la nieve y deshielo de la cordillera, que aprovecha los cursos de los ríos y también por la construcción de diques. La zona que nos ocupa hace algo más de cien años era un área cubierta de lagunas que se formaban por los desagües de los Ríos Mendoza y San Juan. Los objetivos son el estudio de la salud oral y salud general de los pobladores de las comunidades de Asunción y San Miguel, teniendo en cuenta características desde lo social antropológico, y asociarlas con problemáticas como la ambiental, las culturales, la relación con la tierra, la población originaria (pueblos huarpe), el agua, la educación, entre otros aspectos. El enfoque es interdisciplinario, ya que se integra la Sociología, la Odontología desde distintas especialidades, las Ciencias Médicas, Comunicadores Sociales y Literatura. Se utilizan métodos cuantitativos y cualitativos. Entre otros aspectos se realizaron análisis de contenido de arsénico y fluor en el agua de pozo de esta zona de estudio.Our study area, Northeast Department of Lavalle in the Province of Mendoza, is a very arid area of the ambientaleseastern edge of the Andes. It is productive only a small percentage of the total area, thanks to melting snow and the mountain range that takes advantage of the courses of rivers and building dikes po. The area in question more than a hundred years ago was a covered area of gaps formed by the drains of the rivers Mendoza and San Juan. The objectives are the study of oral health and general health of the residents of the communities of Asuncion and San Miguel, taking into account character-istics from the social anthropological, and associate them with issues such as environmental, cultural, relationship to the land, the original population (people huarpe), water, education, among others. The approach is interdisciplinary, since sociology, from different specialties Dentistry, Medical Sciences, Social Communicators and Literature is integrated.     Low X-Ray Luminosity Galaxy Clusters: Main goals, sample selection, photometric and spectroscopic observations

    We present the study of nineteen low X-ray luminosity galaxy clusters (LX_X \sim 0.5--45 ×\times 104310^{43} erg s1^{-1}), selected from the ROSAT Position Sensitive Proportional Counters (PSPC) Pointed Observations (Vikhlinin et al. 1998) and the revised version of Mullis et al. (2003) in the redshift range of 0.16 to 0.7. This is the introductory paper of a series presenting the sample selection, photometric and spectroscopic observations and data reduction. Photometric data in different passbands were taken for eight galaxy clusters at Las Campanas Observatory; three clusters at Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory; and eight clusters at the Gemini Observatory. Spectroscopic data were collected for only four galaxy clusters using Gemini telescopes. With the photometry, the galaxies were defined based on the star-galaxy separation taking into account photometric parameters. For each galaxy cluster, the catalogues contain the PSF and aperture magnitudes of galaxies within the 90\% completeness limit. They are used together with structural parameters to study the galaxy morphology and to estimate photometric redshifts. With the spectroscopy, the derived galaxy velocity dispersion of our clusters ranged from 507 km~s1^{-1} for [VMF98]022 to 775 km~s1^{-1} for [VMF98]097 with signs of substructure. Cluster membership has been extensively discussed taking into account spectroscopic and photometric redshift estimates. In this sense, members are the galaxies within a projected radius of 0.75 Mpc from the X-ray mission peak and with cluster centric velocities smaller than the cluster velocity dispersion or 6000 km~s1^{-1}, respectively. These results will be used in forthcoming papers to study, among the main topics, the red cluster sequence, blue cloud and green populations; the galaxy luminosity function and cluster dynamics.Comment: 13 pages, 6 tables, 9 figures.     Comportamiento de cultivares de soja de los GMII al V en diferentes fechas de siembra, en el ambiente de Santa Rosa, La Pampa

    Se determinó la influencia ejercida por el termoperíodo y fotoperíodo en el desarrollo fenológico de cultivares correspondientes a los GM II al V, Para poder generar diferencias en estos últimos factores se realizaron 5 fechas de siembra desde octubre a diciembre. Para todos los cultivares y fechas de siembra se realizó el seguimiento fenológico, se midió el número de nudos (N°N) en R1, R5 y R8 y en este estado también la producción de MS, Se determinaron los componentes de rendimiento: número de vainas por planta (NVPP), peso de mil semillas (PMS), rendimiento de grano por hectárea (R) e índice de cosecha (IC). La etapa más afectada en su duración, en número de días por la fecha de siembra corresponde a Vc-RI, acentuándose este efecto cuando mayor es el GM. Se puede observar menor diferencia en la duración de ciclo entre los cultivares de GM II, con los de mayor GM a medida que se atrasa la fecha de siembra. Las variedades más precoces presentan los mejores valores de MS. La MS total muestra un ajuste de 43,7% con el rendimiento. A las variedades de GM II y III le corresponde los mejores valores de rendimiento. Todos los resultados se encuentran muy afectados por el estrés hídrico sufrido durante el ciclo de cultivo

    Toxoplasma gondii Infection and Threatened Abortion in Women from Northern Peru

    Introduction. Toxoplasma gondii infection can cause important complications during pregnancy. Threatened abortion may be a late indicator for infection in settings with high prevalence of toxoplasmosis. We aimed to determine the association between T. gondii infection and threatened abortion in women from northern Peru. Methods. We conducted a secondary analysis of a cross-sectional study in pregnant women from a hospital and a rural community in Lambayeque, Peru. Exposure variable was serological diagnosis of toxoplasmosis, defined as the demonstration of either IgM or IgG antibodies against T. gondii. Outcome variable was threatened abortion, defined as the diagnosis of bloody vaginal discharge or bleeding during the first half of pregnancy. Prevalence ratios were estimated in simple and multiple regression analyses. Results. Of 218 pregnant women, 35.8% presented positive serology for T. gondii and 14.7% had threatened abortion in their current pregnancy. Pregnant women with positive T. gondii infection had 2.45-fold higher frequency of threatened abortion (PR: 2.45, 95% CI: 1.15-5.21). In addition, the frequency of threatened abortion decreased by 9% for each additional year of age (PR: 0.91, 95% CI: 0.86-0.97). A previous history of threatened abortion also showed a higher frequency of threatened abortion (PR: 5.22, 95% CI: 2.45-11.12). Conclusions. T. gondii infection is associated with threatened abortion. An early age of pregnancy and a previous history of abortion are also associated with this condition
