Organizational Commitment: Three Research Models Proposal

    Get PDF
Organizational commitment is a vital subject for all organizations that are trying to establish a sustainable business model. In all studies examining the effects of variables on organizational commitment, the research models are designed as all three dimensions of the organizational commitment are distinct variables that are not affecting each other. This research model is valid if the researcher is only trying to investigate the effects of the independent variables on the dimensions. However, if the organizational commitment is being investigated, then the research models should be different. This study tries to examine how the research models should be designed as per research purpose and demonstrates the difference between currently used and the proposed research models by using a sample dataset from a previous study

    Desdemona and Othello: An Adaptation

    Get PDF
Paula Vogel, after 376 years of the publication of Othello, writes her play Desdemona assuming that Othello is right in his accusation to his wife, and Iago’s story about Desdemona’s infidelity is not a false story. After his ear is poisoned with jealousy, Othello asks his wife Desdemona direct questions: “[a]re not you a strumpet? ... What, not a whore?” (4.2. 81, 84). At that moment, most of the readers, if not all, sympathize with Desdemona in a tremendous way. No one can believe or expect for a minute that Othello’s speech is true and that Desdemona is not a faithful wife. Vogel depicts Desdemona as a whore, that Othello imagines her to be, as the new heroine of her play. Vogel characterizes a female figure who is an adventurer, an ordinary woman who is looking for excitement. Vogel rewrites William Shakespeare’s Othello from a female perspective where the focus is not on a man but on a woman. Vogel creates a three-dimensional female character who is problematic and complicated So stated, Vogel adapts a character from the original and develops her to write a play about a different Desdemona

The Determination of the Factors Affecting Air Transportation Passenger Numbers

    Get PDF
So long as human beings are required to go between places, the civil aviation industry will always exist. In this study, a country-based examination has been applied to air passenger numbers. 50 countries are selected according to the highest rating of air transportation passenger numbers, gross domestic product (GDP), total population, and human development index (HDI) data. 28 of these countries are included in the analysis which is common in at least three of these rankings. The relationship between the four parameters is examined via correlation analysis. Thereafter, the related parameters were taken as independent variables in multiple linear regression analyses to determine the factors affecting passenger numbers. The results show that GDP and HDI plays a significant role in passenger numbers. Based on these significant relationships, dimension reduction is done by explanatory factor analysis mapping countries clearly. Exploring the similarities of countries, multidimensional scaling (MDS) is used. The best countries using passenger transportation are found as the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Turkey via MDS configuration. Except for the United States, the reason these countries are found as the best according to passenger transportation is related to their geographical location which is not stated with the numbers

FUNCTIONALITY OF TAUTOLOGY IN SOME SELECTED AMERICAN SONG LYRICS AND POEMS

    Get PDF
Although the term' tautology' predicts negative connotation, it is often employed by poets and lyric writers to communicate more implied meanings. Through the use of tautological expressions, they exchange ideas, give more possibilities to readers to detect the meaning behind the tautological words and thus suggest details not openly communicated in the poem. Ten American song lyrics and ten American poems have been selected to be the data for the study. Data analysis is conducted on the basis of three steps:(i) identifying the type of tautology used ,(ii) detecting the syntactic realization of the tautology and (iii) finding the functions of the use of tautology in these lyrics and poems. The study concludes that song lyrics and poems manipulate various types of tautologies in order to convey various types of meaning and to serve various functions with reference to their contexts. These functions are concerned with the eloquence and expressiveness of these lyrics and poems, including emphasizing a point , specifying attitudes , eliciting facts , and communicating the need to accept or resign oneself to something

Three domains of leadership styles namely Transformational, Transactional and Nurturant were apply. The former and later types of leadership were chosen was based on the concept of “Caring Societal” which the MOE trying to instill in our educational scenario. Teachers’ commitment was examined using questionnaires developed by Meyer and Allen’s (1997). Gender of principals is added to serve as a moderating effect on this relationship which is basically based on this pre-dominant Muslim society where the preferably leadership gender is still maleAffective (AC), Continuance (CC), Normative (NC), Transformational, Transactional, Nurturant

The production of film-induced tourism has lately gained extensive support in global tourism literature and among destination promotions alike, with limited attention given to movie locations in developing countries, including reality TV programmes sets. This paper gives witness to the effect of motion pictures including Lawrence of Arabia, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and The Martian movie, upon tourist visitation selection. For this purpose a conceptual 3 P’s model was developed to explore the extent and influence to position film locations in the top of mind awareness for potential tourists. This integration was conducted using a total of 35 interviews with tourists as respondents from different nationalities during their trip to a Jordanian destination, and by referring to each film’s blog site. The data received was from a content analysis from the interviews, and the frequency results indicated that film tourism is a secondary motive tourism experience due to the missing of the idea of identifying film location in narratives indicative in understood language, short time shooting of scenes, and the run of productions of films. The results do not disregard the idea that a strong perceived awareness has been achieved by watching reality TV shows as types of documentary series rather than cinema movies. Grounded on our empirical analysis, this paper proposes a research agenda that integrates the real socio-cultural attributes of the destination to film tourism production

The aim of this study was to determine not only the level of teachers’ perceptions of organizational silence and school administrators’ communication skills but also the correlation between communication skills and organizational silence. The study aimed to determine to what extent school administrators’ communication skills and teachers’ gender predicted teachers’ organizational silence as well. The target population consisted of 206 teachers of primary schools in the district of Yakutiye of the city of Erzurum in the academic year of 2018-2019. Data were collected using a personal information form developed by the researcher, the Communication Skills Scale (CCS) developed by Wiemann (1977) and adapted to Turkish by Topluer (2008) and the Organizational Silence Scale (OSS) developed by Kahveci and Demirtaş (2013a). Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and Pearson correlation coefficient. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine how well independent variables predicted dependent variables. Participants’ CCS social relaxation and support subscale scores were highest and lowest, respectively. Participants’ OSS school environment and administrator subscale scores were highest and lowest, respectively. There was a significant correlation between school administrators’ communication skills and teachers’ organizational silence. Regression analysis showed that the subscales of the CCS significantly predicted those of the OSS

Objectives: To examine the level of Nepalese critical care nurses’ competency including knowledge, attitude, and practice towards PU prevention. Methods: Data were collected from 98 eligible nurses working in intensive care unit/critical care unit (ICU/CCU) of three hospitals in Nepal from February to April 2017, using Nurses’ Competency Towards Pressure Ulcer (PU) Prevention Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The level of nurses’ competency was categorized into 5 levels. The Nepalese critical care nurses’ competency towards PU prevention was at a low level. The knowledge and attitude of Nepalese critical nurses’ towards PU prevention were at a low and moderate level, respectively. While the practice of Nepalese critical care nurses was at a very low level. Conclusion: Nursing competence is an integral part of positive health outcomes of patients. The low level of competence towards PU prevention among Nepalese critical care nurse, therefore, raises the nation concern to increase their competency in order to increase the quality of PU prevention
