Context: Tertiary Trauma Survey is an important tool for detecting missed injury, and some trauma units have created their protocol for tertiary trauma surveys to decrease the incidence of missed injuries in trauma patients.Aim: This study aims to assess nurses' performance regarding tertiary Survey and Poly-trauma patients' outcomes. Methods: Descriptive exploratory design was utilized to achieve the aim of the study. A convenient sample of all available nurses (50 nurses) working in the intensive care unit at the emergency hospital affiliated to Ain Shams University Hospitals. A purposeful sample composed of (50) adult patients diagnosed as polytrauma patients was recruited from the same units. Data was obtained through three main tools; Self-administered questionnaire for nurses, nurses practice observational checklist and clinical outcome record for patients. Results: Nurses had an unsatisfactory level of knowledge and practice regarding the tertiary trauma survey (44%&32%, respectively). There was a highly statistically significant positive correlation between the total level of knowledge and practice. There was a difference between injury severity score and laboratory, hemodynamic status, physical assessment, and radiological findings of poly-trauma patients on admission and after 24 hours. Conclusion: Less than half and less than one-third of the nurses under study had an unsatisfactory level of knowledge and practice, respectively, regarding the tertiary trauma survey. There was a highly statistically significant positive correlation between the total level of knowledge and total level practice. Polytrauma patients' outcomes revealed a statistically significant difference between injury severity score, hemodynamic status, physical assessment, and radiological findings in polytrauma patients on admission and after 24 hours. Recommendations: Further research is needed to follow the patients' outcomes and missed injuries. Replication of the current study on a larger probability sample is recommended to achieve generalization of the result. Tailored Training courses are needed for nurses to improve unsatisfactory knowledge and practices regarding tertiary trauma survey- integrated studies with the emergency medical team to communicate patients' outcome research findings

BAYESIAN TWO-SAMPLE PREDICTION OF THE GENERALIZED PARETO DISTRIBUTION WITH FIXED AND RANDOM SAMPLE SIZES BASED ON GENERALIZED ORDER STATISTICS

    Get PDF
Bayesian predictive intervals for future observations from a future sample from the generalized Pareto distribution (GPD) based on generalized order statistics (GOS) are obtained when the shape parameter is unknown. We consider two cases: (i) fixed sample size (FSS), and (ii) random sample size (RSS).Some closed forms for the Bayesian predictive functions are obtained. Finally examples are calculated for the lower and the upper bounds of the future observations in cases when the future sample is ordinary order statistics (OOS), record values and progressive type II censoring with different values for the scale parameter &nbsp

The Educational approach included in Al-Hadid Sura

    Get PDF
The study aims to show the educational approaches included in A/-Hadid Sura. This will be done through emphasizing the linguistic patterns utilized in the Sura as a means of communication. The importance of the study stems from the fact that the linguistic educational approach has had a major role in making people accept the principles of Islam. The article makes use of the inductive/deductive approach. It is structured along two sections: the ļ¬rst introduces Al-Hadid Sura, its virtues, the implication of its title, and the most important subjects it deals with. The second section is concerned with introducing the concept of education and educational approaches, a presentation of some of the most important Quranic educational approaches, such as education though gloriļ¬cations, comparisons, instructions, guidance, attraction, threats, dialogue, the good example, culpability, providing evidence, developing resemblance, and repetition. The study has revealed that the educational Qurā€™anic approach is crucial in shaping a consistent personality of the believer. It also has underscored how the Qurā€˜an includes educational approaches comparable to modern educational approaches, and that it has a signiļ¬cant inļ¬‚uence on deepening peopleā€™s theological knowledge and enhancing their code of behavior to achieve, hereby, happiness in this world and be rewarded in the hereafter

Particle production and chemical freezeout from the hybrid UrQMD approach at NICA energies

The energy dependence of various particle ratios is calculated within the Ultra-Relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics approach and compared with the hadron resonance gas (HRG) model and measurements from various experiments, including RHIC-BES, SPS and AGS. It is found that the UrQMD particle ratios agree well with the experimental results at the RHIC-BES energies. Thus, we have utilized UrQMD in simulating particle ratios at other beam energies down to 3 GeV, which will be accessed at NICA and FAIR future facilities. We observe that the particle ratios for crossover and first-order phase transition, implemented in the hybrid UrQMD v3.4, are nearly indistinguishable, especially at low energies (at large baryon chemical potentials or high density).Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, 2 tables, one reference is added and one paragraph is rephrased. Grapefruit is commonly consumed around the world due to its nutritional and medicinal properties. Ulcerative colitis (UC) accounts for an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) accompanied by irritation, recurrent inflammation, and ulceration of the colon's mucosa. Our objective was to assess the antiinflammatory and antioxidant impacts of grapefruit juice (GFJ) in rat with UC induced by acetic acid (AA). There were five groups made up of 35 mature male rats. Group 2 served as a positive control with UC, whereas group 1 was preserved as a negative control. For 8 weeks, groups 3, 4, and 5 received UC while also given 2.5, 5 or 10% of GFJ orally. Feed efficiency ratio (FER), body weight growth (BWG), and feed intake (FI) were computed. From rat eye orbital plexuses blood samples were taken to separate the serum after centrifugation.  The aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activity were assessed utilizing serum samples. The antioxidant enzymes catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in serum were quantified. Serum inflammatory cytokines as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFĪ±), interleukin 1 Ī² (IL1 Ī²), IL6 and IL8, as well as triglycerides (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) were measured. In liver homogenate, glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were determined. Additionally, histopathology of the colon was accomplished. Our findings specified that GFJ at 10% significantly decreased FI, BWG and FER, cytokines TNFĪ±, IL1 Ī², IL6 and IL8 and TC and TG. Relative to the positive controls, the rats treated with GFJ exhibited elevated serum concentrations of SOD, GPx, and CAT enzymes. Liver GSH was elevated and MDA was reduced. Histopathological examination of the colon showed that GFJ at 10% reduced ulcerative colitis. Because grapefruit juice has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant characteristics and reduces oxidative stress and inflammation in rats, grapefruit juice, at a concentration of 10%, likely protects against ulcerative colitis. Patients with ulcerative colitis may find it helpful to consume grapefruit juice as a beverage.&nbsp

Background: The overweight is one of the main reasons for the development of diabetes, so the lipid profile is different between the diabetes and the healthy people. In addition, there is a variation between the lipids profile according to sex difference in the diabetes patients. The main goal of the current study was to assessment the relationship between lipid profiles-based sex difference of diabetes patients (with and without overweight) and control group. Methodology: In this study, the glucose level and lipid profiles were determined for one hundred and forty volunteers, thirty-nine of them were healthy as a control group (25 females and 16 males), and one hundred and two had diabetes, 50 diabetes with overweight (25 females and 25 males) and 52 diabetes without overweight (27 females and 25 males). Results: Concerning the results of glucose level, the results of the current study showed significant differences between males and females in HbA1c test of control group (P=0.024) and in PPG test of Diabetes without overweight group (P=0.033). On other hands, our results found variation between men and women in other groups but not reach to significant differences. While the results of lipids profile showed significant differences between males and females in HDL_C test of diabetes without overweight group (P=0.0246) and in LDL_C test of control group (P=0.02). At the same time, our results recorded variation between men and women in other groups but not reach to significant differences. Conclusions: The research presents important results on the differences between sex and its content of lipid profiles in diabetic patients, although some differences did not reach at significant level, but they showed clear sex differences

BACKGROUND: Health-care safety focuses on improving patientā€™s and workerā€™s safety in a safe working clinicsā€™ environment and prevent infection transmission including droplet infections as seasonal influenza and novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Dental health-care personnel (DHCP) are the target of safety measures and are themselves responsible for elimination of preventable harm. Dental schools are expected to demonstrate the model for quality safe care. AIM: This study aims to achieve high-quality safe dental care at dental clinics, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey study was conducted at two Dental Outpatient Clinics, Cairo University. Disk review of policies, observation checklists for practices and awareness questionnaires of DHCP were used. RESULTS: DHCP showed good awareness for most of infection control (IC) and X-ray safety items. However, there are no policies or procedures to control droplet infections in the clinics. The clinics were closed in the current COVID-19 pandemic. There were poor patient safety practices, hand hygiene compliance, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use except for protecting clothes and disposable gloves. Students showed better compliance for patient safety guidelines. Other safety policies were poorly communicated. CONCLUSION: There should be preparedness plan to deal with any droplet infection outbreak, epidemic or pandemic as COVID-19 in all dental settings. There is a need to initiate dental safety unit in dental schools to implement, communicate, train, and supervise all dental safety practices including infection control
