Our purpose of the study was to determine the learners’ educational level and their knowledge of true cognate words. 385 had been selected from 3,789 statistical population participated in 2014–2015 at three levels of associate, bachelor, and master of Islamic Azad University as well as teachers of English in English educational institutions in Zanjan (Iran). The participants’ age was between from 18 to 52. The materials were 45 words of true cognate words from 500 words by doing CVR (content validity ratio) and CVI (content validity index) (Lawshe’s table with the index of 88% and 82% respectively). ANOVA (Analysis of variance) was used for studying the effect of educational level on the rate of awareness. The results showed there is no significant difference between the awareness of Associate diploma (A.D.), Bachelor of art (B.A.), and Master of art (M.A.) levels, but there is a significant difference between the level of awareness of teachers group and the other groups in true cognate words. Our result showed that all of them were weak in recognizing true cognate words. It also suggested the mean of true cognates recognized by the students based on educational level had increased trend

Identifying the most important individuals, institutions, universities, and other academic activities related to scientific production can help in collaborating and also exchanging information in various fields of science. Scientific cooperation plays an important role in promoting qualitative and quantitative scientific publications. One of the forms of collaboration is co-authorship in which two or more authors collaborate to create scientific work. Co-authorship relationships form collaboration networks that can be analyzed and visualized. The structure of networks like co-authorship can reflect the degree of internal collaboration and show the changes of information through time and other variable

Electronic Health Record Architecture: A Systematic Review

    Get PDF
Numerous advantages are derived from the electronic health record (EHR).Though achieving such advantages depends on its architecture, at present no unique understanding of the architecture dimensions and specifications is available. Therefore, the aim of the present study is a systematic review of architecture perception of the electronic health record. The authors searched the literature in Science Direct, Scopus, PubMed and Proudest Databases (2000 to Jun 2015).  Data extraction was done by 2 reviewers on content, structure, content/structure relationship, confidentiality and security of the EHR. Subsequent to refining the 87 retrieved studies, 25 studies were finally included in the study. In the studies and paradigms so far proposed for the EHR, a unique comprehensive architecture model from the viewpoint of research criteria has not been investigated and it has been considered only from some dimensions. Hence, we provide a new definition of the EHR architecture

Background and purpose: The best-known groups of Escherichia coli are B2, B1, A, and D. Previous studies have clearly shown the difference between this group such as resistance to antibiotics, the growth rate, and pathogenicity. Therefore, identifying different groups of E. coli could be of great benefit in curing infections caused by this bacterium. There are some defects in traditional diagnosis methods for E. coli groups, hence, this study aimed at finding a more efficient method. Material and methods: To identify different E. coli groups, after surveying genomic sequence of 60 E. coli and their grouping which was done by silico multiplex PCR method, a polymorphic sequence of homoserine kinase enzyme was selected. Then, 20 unknown samples of E. coli strains were grouped by this sequence and multiplex PCR methods. Results: The 20 unknown samples of E. coli strains were grouped identically in both methods. Conclusion: Identification and grouping of different E. coli strains by sequencing method was found to be more precise than multiplex PCR method. © 2014, Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. Bi-Directional ConvLSTM U-Net with Densley Connected Convolutions

In recent years, deep learning-based networks have achieved state-of-the-art performance in medical image segmentation. Among the existing networks, U-Net has been successfully applied on medical image segmentation. In this paper, we propose an extension of U-Net, Bi-directional ConvLSTM U-Net with Densely connected convolutions (BCDU-Net), for medical image segmentation, in which we take full advantages of U-Net, bi-directional ConvLSTM (BConvLSTM) and the mechanism of dense convolutions. Instead of a simple concatenation in the skip connection of U-Net, we employ BConvLSTM to combine the feature maps extracted from the corresponding encoding path and the previous decoding up-convolutional layer in a non-linear way. To strengthen feature propagation and encourage feature reuse, we use densely connected convolutions in the last convolutional layer of the encoding path. Finally, we can accelerate the convergence speed of the proposed network by employing batch normalization (BN). The proposed model is evaluated on three datasets of: retinal blood vessel segmentation, skin lesion segmentation, and lung nodule segmentation, achieving state-of-the-art performance

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Celery (Apium graveolens), in traditional medicine is known as appetite and libido stimulant, and also there has been referred to its effect on miscarriage and catamenia. This plant with known plant compounds could be an option for fertility control. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of hydro-alcoholic extract of celery on male rats in fertility control and sex ratio of rat offspring. METHODS: In this experimental study, 20 male rats were divided randomly into 4 groups, 5 in each group. Control group received no treatment; Sham group received 1 ml normal saline and the treatment groups 1 and 2 received hydro-alcoholic extract of celery in doses of 100 and 200 mg/Kg/BW respectively for 5 weeks. After mating each male rat with two female rats, the number of delivered mice and the number of offspring and their sex were recorded and compared 30 days after the birth. FINDINGS: There was no significance difference between the experimental and control group (p>0.05). The result showed a significant decrease in the number of offspring in doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg (4.25±0.25 and 4.50±0.32 respectively) compared to the control group (7.11±0.26), also a significant increase in the sex ratio in dose of 100 mg/kg (2.93±0.30) compared to the control group (0.98±0.11) was observed (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: It seems that consumption of celery in male decreases the number of offspring and increases the male genesis; because it does not affect on childbirth. It may be useful safely in pregnancy controlling. © 2014, Babol University of Medical Sciences. All rights reserved

Objectives: Infertility is one of the most common health problems in the world. Different plants are used in traditional medicine to treat infertility. Celery is rich in flavonoids and vitamins E and C. The present study investigated the effect of hydroalcoholic extract of celery leaves on the delivery rate, number, weight and sex ratio of rat offspring. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 45 Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups of fifteen (five male and 10 female rats per group). The control group received 1 ml of distilled water, and experimental groups received respectively doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg/BW celery extract for five weeks by gavage. During the fifth week each male rat was mated with two female rats from the same group in a separate cage. After a week, every female rat was kept in the separate cages. Females received celery extract during pregnancy and until childbirth. Finally, the number of the delivery females, number, weight and sex ratio of offspring were recorded. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA test using SPSS15 software. Results: The number of the delivery rats in the experimental groups was not significantly different than the control group (P>0.05). The number of newborns was significantly increased in each experimental group compared to the control group (P0.05). Conclusions: Celery improved fertility due to have flavonoid and antioxidant activity, and its consumption in both sexes can be useful in the treatment of infertility. © 2014 AENSI Publisher All rights reserved
