Role of placement in determination of service quality measurement of higher education in India

In this research paper the methodological development of a new model, namely SQM-HEI (Service Quality Measurement in Higher Education in India) for the measurement of service quality in higher educational institutions is developed. Three dimensions are arrived namely Teaching Methodology(TM), Environmental Change in Study Factor (ECSF) and Disciplinary Action(DA). The Placement is considered as the mediating factor for the outcome of education. For conducting an empirical study, data were collected from final year students of higher educational institutions across Tamilnadu. 1600 valid questionnaires were used for the analysis. The SQM-HEI captures the authentic determinants of service quality within the higher education sector. The developed 30-item instrument has been empirically tested with AMOS 7.0. The developed model is tested for Structural Equation Model and Bayesian estimation and testing. The SEM model output reveals that the RMSEA=0.049, GFI= 0.987 and NFI = 0.928. all the fit indices concludes the best fit of the model. The results from the current study are crucial because previous studies have produced scales that bear a resemblance to the generic measures of service quality, which may not be totally adequate to assess the perceived quality in higher education.SQM-HEI, Service Quality, Higher Education, India

Mediating effects of broadband consumers’ behavior in India

Internet usage is rapidly growing in areas like cosmopolitan cities, semi-urban cities in India. I-enabled services offered by various government agencies, educational institutions and commercial activities force users of these services to seek superior internet access like broadband, WiMax is likely to replace traditional broadband and dial-up access soon. Interestingly, reforms in telecom sector are taking place at a rapid pace in India. Many private players started internet services affecting monopolistic public sector telecoms. The advent of private ISPs, the consumer behavior and brand choice of broadband consumers are witnessing dynamic shift in favor of private players. Cost competitiveness, transparency, paradigm shift in consumer responsiveness etc weigh in favor of Public Sector telecoms. This paper attempts to identify the factors affecting broadband consumer behavior. Further, paper studies the causes and effects, mediating effects of consumer behavior and conceptualizes a model to capture these effects. Critical Review on the Future of Teaching and Learning in the Post-Pandemic World: Top Ten Issues and Top Ten Ideas

This paper explores the top ten issues and ideas for the future of teaching and learning in the post-pandemic world. The study uses the researcher's informed reflection as a method. The informed reflector role allows the researcher to explore realities from multiple dimensions by scanning existing teaching and learning scholarship. The subjective accounting, the lack of external verification of the thinking, overshadows limitations. The researcher devises phenomenological bracketing to reduce the researcher to a reflector. The researcher acknowledges that there could be other critical issues and ideas than those in this study. Collapse of the charge ordering gap of Nd_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}MnO_{3} in an applied magnetic field

We report results of tunneling studies on the charge ordering compound Nd_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}MnO_{3} in a magnetic field up to 6T and for temperature down to 25K.We show that a gap (2\Delta_{CO} \approx 0.5eV opens up in the density of state (DOS) at the Fermilevel (E_F) on charge ordering (T_{CO}=150K) which collapses in an applied magnetic field when the charge ordered state melts. There is a clear correspondence between the behavior of the resistivity and the gap formation and its collapse in an applied magnetic field. We conclude that a gap in the DOS at E_F is necessary for the stability of the charge ordered state.Comment: 4 pages REVTeX, 5 postscript figures included, submitted to Phys. Rev. Let

Permanental mates and Hwang's conjecture

AbstractLet Ωn denote the set of all n × n doubly stochastic matrices. Two unequal matrices A,B ∈ Ωn are said to form a permanental pair if per[tA + (1 − t)B] is constant for all t ∈ [0,1], in which case A and B are called permanental mates of each other. We characterize the sets of all matrices in Ω3 and Ω4 having their transpose as permanental mates. Using a generalization of the results, we disprove Hwang's conjecture which states that for n ≥ 4, any matrix in the interior of Ωn has no mate

The Impact of Citizenship Education in Nurturing Students’ Positive Behaviours: Exploring the Perceptions of Students in a Private School in Dubai

The aim of this study is to analyse the impacts of citizenship education (CE) in enhancing positive behaviours among students. The study particularly explored the perceptions of students on this in a private school in Dubai. Theory of global citizenship and social theory of global citizenship were influential in this study to form necessary theoretical understanding. A questionnaire with quantitative and qualitative questions were distributed among high school students to measure the impact of citizenship education in nurturing students’ positive behaviours. The findings of the research indicate that CE helps learners improve their interpersonal capabilities and their positive behaviours. The study contents that citizenship education enhances positive learning experience among students. As this is a single case study focusing on one institution it is difficult to generalize the findings. The study claims that CE is an important element that can enhance learners’ achievement. It is concluded that CE increases learning, making important decisions, and improving personal learning

Multiple-input Multiple-output Radar Waveform Design Methodologies

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar is currently an active area of research. The MIMO techniques have been well studied for communications applications where they offer benefits in multipath fading environments. Partly inspired by these benefits, MIMO techniques are applied to radar and they offer a number of advantages such as improved resolution and sensitivity. It allows the use of transmitting multiple simultaneous waveforms from different phase centers. The employed radar waveform plays a key role in determining the accuracy, resolution, and ambiguity in performing tasks such as determining the target range, velocity, shape, and so on. The excellent performance promised by MIMO radar can be unleashed only by proper waveform design. In this article, a survey on MIMO radar waveform design is presented. Nurturing female leadership skills through peer mentoring role: A study among undergraduate students in the United Arab Emirates

© 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd Nurturing students’ leadership is a crucial element in the twenty-first century due to its effects on their personal growth, well-being and self-awareness. Peer mentoring programmes promoted students’ confidence levels and provided leadership development opportunities for them. The majority of peer mentoring studies often looked into the positive outcomes of mentoring on mentees rather than on mentors. Through semi-structured interviews, this study sought to explore the impact of peer mentoring role on female mentors’ personal development and leadership practices in one university in the United Arab Emirates. Most participants viewed the mentoring role as the driving force behind their improved academic, personal development and career-related skills. The peer mentoring experience offered a great personal and psychosocial support to female mentors. Involvement in peer mentoring enhanced mentors’ well-being and their attachment to their learning environment. Mentors’ professionalism and sense of responsibility grew, and they gained experiences and skills that may help them in their future career. This study aimed to inspire female students to be future leaders who can positively contribute to their communities. The Influence of Distributed Leadership on Effective School Governance and Improved School Performance A Study Conducted in Two Private Schools in the UAE

The purpose of this research is to identify the impact of Distributed Leadership (DL) on school governance, leading to an improvement in the overall school performance. This study was conducted in two private schools in the UAE. The review of related literature helped to understand the concept of distributed leadership and its impact on governance, school performance, and organizational hierarchy. The data was collected using a mixed method using surveys and interviews. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis and moderated regression analysis. The conclusion reached was that DL has a positive impact on the relationship between governance and performance. It was also found that DL was being applied in both schools at varying levels, and each had areas that needed improvement. The most important implication was the connection of DL to governance and performance. The findings offer relevant insights for schools studied, as well as for similar schools
