The world of adolescents: proposals for observing and understanding

Al llarg de dos cursos (2002-2004) un grup de professionals implicats en la intervenció educativa i en la investigació va dur a terme la investigació-acció "El món dels adolescents explicat per ells mateixos". Les pàgines que segueixen són un petit resum d'alguns dels seus capítols, fonamentalment d'aquells que plantegen una altra manera de mirar-se i d'entendre l'adolescència. L'estatus contradictori de l'adolescència i les seves consideracions sobre la felicitat condueixen al debat sobre la responsabililat. No té cap mena de sentit considerar l'adolescència com un estadi d'irresponsabiLitat general.A lo largo de dos cursos (2002-2004) un grupo de profesionales implicados en la intervención educativa y en la investigación llevó a cabo la investigación-acción "El món dels adolescents explicat per ells mateixos" (El mundo de los adolescentes explicado por ellos mismos). Las páginas que siguen son un pequeño resumen de algunos de sus capítulos, fundamentalmente de aquellos que plantean otra forma de mirarse y de entender la adolescencia. El estatus contradictorio de la adolescencia y sus consideraciones sobre la felicidad conducen al debate sobre la responsabilidad. Reactions of the inhabitants of Alicante against yellow fever epidemic of 1804

Este trabajo es una parte de la Memoria de Investigación titulada Hambre, enfermedad y muerte. La sociedad alicantina frente a la epidemia de fiebre amarilla de 1804, dirigida por el doctor Josep Bernabeu.El trabajo analiza a través de la revisión de diversas fuentes manuscritas, las reacciones suscitadas en el seno de la población alicantina a raíz de la epidemia de fiebre amarilla de 1804. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto la diversidad socioeconómica de los comportamientos. Mientras los hacendados y comerciantes emigraron en su mayor parte, otros colectivos, como los militares o parte del clero, permanecieron en la ciudad al frente de muchas de las iniciativas político-administrativas o filantrópicas que se tomaron. Las clases populares fueron las que más padecieron los efectos de la epidemia, lo que provocó el resentimiento y la rebeldía a la hora de aceptar y de cumplir las órdenes impuestas por las autoridades. La aparición de la fiebre amarilla, con la consiguiente paralización de la vida comercial y laboral, agravó los problemas que acompañaban a la población alicantina en 1804: crisis agraria, conflicto bélico, desabastecimiento, condiciones higiénico-sanitarias deficientes, etc.This study analizes, through a revision of numerous varied handwritten documents. the reaction of the Alicantine population stemming from the yellow fever epidemic of 1804. The results of this investigation reveal a great diversity of behaviours throughout the socio-economic strata. While the majority of Alicante's landowners and merchants emigrated, other groups, such as members of the military and part of the clergy, remained in the city, at the head of many of the political and administrative initiatives that were adopted. The lower classes suffered most the effects of the epidemic. provoking resentment and rebellion when it came time to accept and act on the orders of the authorities. The arrival of the yellow fever and the subsequent paralization of commerce and work in the city aggravated the problems already faced by the people of Alicante in 1804: a national agrarian crisis, war with England, a scarcity of provisions, deplorable health and hygienic conditions, etc

Study on Mechanical Relaxations of 7075 (Al–Zn–Mg) and 2024 (Al–Cu–Mg) Alloys by Application of the Time-Temperature Superposition Principle

The viscoelastic response of commercial Al–Zn–Mg and Al–Cu–Mg alloys was measured with a dynamic-mechanical analyzer (DMA) as a function of the temperature (from 30 to 425ºC) and the loading frequency (from 0.01 to 150 Hz). The time-temperature superposition (TTS) principle has proven to be useful in studying mechanical relaxations and obtaining master curves for amorphous materials. In this work, the TTS principle is applied to the measured viscoelastic data (i.e., the storage and loss moduli) to obtain the corresponding master curves, and to analyze the mechanical relaxations responsible for the viscoelastic behavior of the studied alloys. For the storage modulus it was possible to identify a master curve for a low-temperature region (from room temperature to 150ºC) and, for the storage and loss moduli, another master curve for a high-temperature region (from 320 to 375ºC). These temperature regions are coincidental with the stable intervals where no phase transformations occur. The different temperature dependencies of the shift factors for the identified master curves, manifested by different values of the activation energy in the Arrhenius expressions for the shift factor, are due to the occurrence of microstructural changes and variations in the relaxation mechanisms between the mentioned temperature regions.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Violencia y educación. ¿Es posible prevenir las conductas violentas?

.Anotaciones sobre la posibilidad o imposibilidad de prevenir las conductas violentas. ¿Qué se entiende por hombre o mujer no violento, por ciudadanía no violenta y por sociedades no violentas? No existe una visión neutra sobre la cuestión de la violencia. Con frecuencia hay demasiadas miradas violentas sobre la violencia. Educar es aprender a descubrir por qué necesitamos enemigos y cuáles son los reales, si es que existen. Hay que recordar que detrás de algunas conductas violentas hay entornos de pobreza, marginalidad y exclusión. U a partir de aquí, se pueden construir ciudadanos que no necesiten recurrir a la violencia para convivir
