    Time-Frequency Warped Waveforms

    Get PDF
The forthcoming communication systems are advancing towards improved flexibility in various aspects. Improved flexibility is crucial to cater diverse service requirements. This letter proposes a novel waveform design scheme that exploits axis warping to enable peaceful coexistence of different pulse shapes. A warping transform manipulates the lattice samples non-uniformly and provides flexibility to handle the time-frequency occupancy of a signal. The proposed approach enables the utilization of flexible pulse shapes in a quasi-orthogonal manner and increases the spectral efficiency. In addition, the rectangular resource block structure, which assists an efficient resource allocation, is preserved with the warped waveform design as well.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures; accepted version (The URL for the final version: http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?tp=&arnumber=8540914&isnumber=8605392

Global Imbalances, Current Account Rebalancing and Exchange Rate Adjustments

We analyze the global imbalances and the required adjustments for rebalancing in current accounts and real exchange rates. We set up a two-country two-sector model for the US- China with two asymmetries. First, we assume that the size of China initially is one third of the US but its size becomes half of the US in the next ten years consistent with the fast growth expectations in China. Secondly, we assume that China initially runs a net export surplus against the US. Then we quantitatively study two adjustment scenarios. First scenario, called Slow Adjustment, assumes that in the process of growth, Chinese demand composition moves more towards domestic non-tradable sector. In this case, Chinese real exchange rate appreciates gradually and net export surplus also decreases slowly. Second scenario, called Quick Adjustment, assumes that in addition to the higher non-tradable share in output, net export surplus against US goes to zero quickly in five years. In this case, net export adjustment happens quickly and real exchange rates in China also appreciate faster and at a higher rate than Slow Adjustment case. Even though, global imbalances are eliminated faste in the Quick Adjustment case, high real appreciation in China hurts importers in the US. A comparison in terms of output shows that Slow Adjustments is preferred for both countries.Global imbalances, Current accounts, Exchange rate adjustments

5G is envisioned to improve major key performance indicators (KPIs), such as peak data rate, spectral efficiency, power consumption, complexity, connection density, latency, and mobility. This chapter aims to provide a complete picture of the ongoing 5G waveform discussions and overviews the major candidates. It provides a brief description of the waveform and reveals the 5G use cases and waveform design requirements. The chapter presents the main features of cyclic prefix-orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (CP-OFDM) that is deployed in 4G LTE systems. CP-OFDM is the baseline of the 5G waveform discussions since the performance of a new waveform is usually compared with it. The chapter examines the essential characteristics of the major waveform candidates along with the related advantages and disadvantages. It summarizes and compares the key features of different waveforms.Comment: 22 pages, 21 figures, 2 tables; accepted version (The URL for the final version: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/9781119333142.ch2

In this study, one of the most controversial debates of economics literature, namely the relationship between bank credits and inflation is studied in the context of Turkish economy. In the study, covering 1983-2007 period, total bank credits and inflation (PPI) are used. The relationships between bank credits and inflation rate are analyzed econometrically by employing Johansen cointegration analysis and error correction model. According to the results, bank credits is negatively effected by inflation, while inflation is positively effected by bank credits in the long run. Furthermore, error correction-augmented Granger causality tests show that bi-directional causality exists between bank credits and inflation.Bank Credits, Inflation, Turkey Economy, Time Series, Unit Root, Cointegration, Weak Exogenity, Granger Causality, VEC Model

    21. century is called as Knowledge and Communication Age. In this age, countries develop some policies about electronic structuring which enable them to be a knowledge society. Given these developments states start to cast their classical bureaucratic structure and tend to work ‘E-Commerce’ structure which is easier, speeder and cheaper. So, the nature of local enterprises started to modify. The main aim of E-Commerce activities is to satisfy consumer needs. Thus, the private sector has a chance and obligation to provide some important subsets of e-commerce activities to the consumer. The main aim of this study is to show that how industrial undertaking use knowledge and communication technologies to provide expansion in Gaziantep industries. Survey data was analyzed using SPSS (Statical Package for Social Sciences) 13.0 statistics program in order to reach at this aim

Globalization is one of the defining features of the contemporary world, but there is considerable controversy regarding its nature, impact, and future trends. Globalization has resulted in rapidly growing international flows of import and export goods, capital and direct invenstments. The services sector nowadays has expanded in scope beyond thetraditional activities in finance, transport, travel and telecommunication and audio-visual services to a host of professional services such as software and information services, engineering and legal services, e-commerce and other internet-based service offerings. After post second world war period, this growth of services have shown a dramatic increase in most of the developed countries of the world. Improving information and communicating technologies (ICT) intensified international interaction, increased competition and volume of global trade, while creating new challenges for labor. The purpose of his study is to show the dynamics of globalisation and its effects on international trade and labor force, providing some policy outcomes for he world in general, and Turkey.Küreselleşme günümüz dünyasının açıklayıcı özelliklerinden birini oluşturmaktadır ama yinede küreselleşmenin yapısı, etkileri ve gelecek trendleri üzerine önemli tartışmalar yaşanmaktadır.

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Plasma D-dimer levels are directly related to the intra- and extra-vascular coagulation that occurs in acute and chronic lung damage in patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). OBJECTIVES: This study examines the relationship between the severity of community-acquired pneumonia and D-dimer levels. In addition, the study examines the correlations among community-acquired pneumonia, the radiological extent of the disease and mortality. METHODS: The Pneumonia Severity Index was used to classify patients into five groups. Patients were treated at home or in the hospital according to the guidelines for community-acquired pneumonia. Blood samples were taken from the antecubital vein with an injector and placed into citrated tubes. After they were centrifuged, the samples were evaluated with the quantitative latex method. RESULTS: The study included 60 patients who had been diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia (mean age 62.5 ± 11.7) and 24 healthy controls (mean age 59.63 ± 6.63). The average plasma D-dimer levels were 337.3 ± 195.1ng/mL in the outpatient treatment group, 691.0 ± 180.5 in the inpatient treatment group, 1363.2 ± 331.5 ng/mLin the intensive care treatment group and 161.3 ± 38.1ng/mL in the control group (p<0.001). The mean D-dimer plasma level was 776.1 ± 473.5ng/mL in patients with an accompanying disease and 494.2 ± 280.1 ng/mL in patients without an accompanying disease (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Plasma D-dimer levels were increased even in community-acquired pneumonia patients who did not have an accompanying disease that would normally cause such an increase
