Two-loop critical mass for Wilson fermions

    Get PDF
We have redone a recent two-loop computation of the critical mass for Wilson fermions in lattice QCD by evaluating Feynman integrals with the coordinate-space method. We present the results for different types of infrared regularization. We confirm both the previous numerical estimates and the power of the coordinate-space method whenever high accuracy is needed.Comment: 13 LaTeX2e pages, 2 ps figures include

Generating Erler-Schnabl-type Solution for Tachyon Vacuum in Cubic Superstring Field Theory

We study a new set of identity-based solutions to analyze the problem of tachyon condensation in open bosonic string field theory and cubic superstring field theory. Even though these identity-based solutions seem to be trivial, it turns out that after performing a suitable gauge transformation, we are left with the known Erler-Schnabl-type solutions which correctly reproduce the value of the D-brane tension. This result shows explicitly that how a seemingly trivial solution can generate a non-trivial configuration which precisely represents to the tachyon vacuum.Comment: 22 pages, references added, appendix added, 2 subsections adde

Expansion around half-integer values, binomial sums and inverse binomial sums

I consider the expansion of transcendental functions in a small parameter around rational numbers. This includes in particular the expansion around half-integer values. I present algorithms which are suitable for an implementation within a symbolic computer algebra system. The method is an extension of the technique of nested sums. The algorithms allow in addition the evaluation of binomial sums, inverse binomial sums and generalizations thereof.Comment: 21 page

Numerical study of Yang-Mills classical solutions on the twisted torus

We use the lattice cooling method to investigate the structure of some gauge fixed SU(2) Yang-Mills classical solutions of the euclidean equations of motion which are defined in the 3-torus with symmetric twisted boundary conditions.Comment: 20pp (fig.included

Conservation laws and tachyon potentials in the sliver frame

Conservation laws have provided an elegant and efficient tool to evaluate the open string field theory interaction vertex, they have been originally implemented in the case where the string field is expanded in the Virasoro basis. In this work we derive conservation laws in the case where the string field is expanded in the so-called sliver L0\mathcal{L}_0-basis. As an application of these conservation laws derived in the sliver frame, we compute the open string field action relevant to the tachyon condensation and in order to present not only an illustration but also an additional information, we evaluate the action without imposing a gauge choice.Comment: 26 pages, some typos fixed, comments added, references adde

Scaling Analysis of Improved Actions for Pure SU(3) Gauge Theory

    Get PDF
We have explored the behaviour of some improved actions based on a nonperturbative renormalization group (RG) analysis in coupling space. We calculate the RG flow in two-coupling space (\boneone,\bonetwo) and examine the restoration of rotational invariance and the scaling of physical quantities (Tc/σ)(T_c/\sqrt{\sigma}).Comment: LATTICE98(improvement

Comments on regularization of identity based solutions in string field theory

We analyze the consistency of the recently proposed regularization of an identity based solution in open bosonic string field theory. We show that the equation of motion is satisfied when it is contracted with the regularized solution itself. Additionally, we propose a similar regularization of an identity based solution in the modified cubic superstring field theory.Comment: 24 pages, two subsections added, two references adde

Level truncation analysis of regularized identity based solutions

We evaluate the vacuum energy of regularized identity based solutions through level truncation computations in open bosonic string field theory. We show that the level truncated solutions bring a value of the vacuum energy expected for the tachyon vacuum in agreement with Sen's first conjecture.Comment: 22 pages, comments added, one table adde

Stand-alone hybrid power plant based on SiC solar PV and wind inverters with smart spinning reserve management

    Get PDF
Stand-alone hybrid power plants based on renewable energy sources are becoming a more and more interesting alternative. However, their management is a complex task because there are many variables, requirements and restrictions as well as a wide variety of possible scenarios. Though a proper sizing of the power plant is necessary to obtain a competitive cost of the energy, smart management is key to guarantee the power supply at a minimum cost. In this work, a novel hybrid power plant control strategy is designed, implemented and simulated under a wide variety of scenarios. Thereby, the proposed control algorithm aims to achieve maximum integration of renewable energy, reducing the usage of non-renewable generators as much as possible and guaranteeing the stability of the microgrid. Different scenarios and case studies have been analyzed by dynamic simulation to verify the proper operation of the power plant controller. The main novelties of this work are: (i) the stand-alone hybrid power plant management regarding a battery energy storage system as a part of the spinning reserve, (ii) the characterization of the largest loads as non-priority loads, (iii) the minimization of the needed spinning reserve and fuel consumption from diesel generators

Privateering is described to a case of separation anxiety in a French Bulldog of 1,7 years, called Corso. The owners go to the clinic because Corso destroys everything when left alone at home. Initially was the living room where they had to make repairs of damage caused by Corso. Currently is a corridor, its new location when left alone. Treatment consisted of three parts: first the pharmacological treatment Trankimazin 1mg 1/24h and Fluoxetina 20mg 1/24h, then changing his environment and also a behavior modification helped by the pharmalogical treatment. Seven months later, and after several follow-ups, Corso was medical discharged but the pharmacological treatment was maintained for a month with half dose of Fluoxetina
