State-insensitive trapping of Rb atoms: linearly versus circularly polarized lights
We study the cancellation of differential ac Stark shifts in the 5s and 5p
states of rubidium atom using the linearly and circularly polarized lights by
calculating their dynamic polarizabilities. Matrix elements were calculated
using a relativistic coupled-cluster method at the single, double and important
valence triple excitations approximation including all possible non-linear
correlation terms. Some of the important matrix elements were further optimized
using the experimental results available for the lifetimes and static
polarizabilities of atomic states. "Magic wavelengths" are determined from the
differential Stark shifts and results for the linearly polarized light are
compared with the previously available results. Possible scope of facilitating
state-insensitive optical trapping schemes using the magic wavelengths for
circularly polarized light are discussed. Using the optimized matrix elements,
the lifetimes of the 4d and 6s states of this atom are ameliorated.Comment: 13 pages, 13 tables and 4 figure
Confined Acoustic Phonon in CdS1-xSex Nanoparticles in Borosilicate Glass
We calculate low-frequency Raman scattering from the confined acoustic phonon
modes of CdS1-xSex nanoparticles embedded in borosilicate glass. The
calculation of the Raman scattering by acoustic phonons in nanoparticles has
been performed by using third-order perturbation theory. The deformation
potential approximation is used to describe the electronphonon interaction. The
Raman-Brillouin electronic density and the electron-phonon interaction are
found to increases with decreasing size of nanoparticle. A good agreement
between the calculated and reported low-frequency Raman spectra is found.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figures. Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (In

Metabolism of 2-Chloro-4-Nitrophenol in a Gram Negative Bacterium, Burkholderia sp. RKJ 800
A 2-Chloro-4-nitrophenol (2C4NP) degrading bacterial strain designated as RKJ 800 was isolated from a pesticide contaminated site of India by enrichment method and utilized 2C4NP as sole source of carbon and energy. The stoichiometric amounts of nitrite and chloride ions were detected during the degradation of 2C4NP. On the basis of thin layer chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, chlorohydroquinone (CHQ) and hydroquinone (HQ) were identified as major metabolites of the degradation pathway of 2C4NP. Manganese dependent HQ dioxygenase activity was observed in the crude extract of 2C4NP induced cells of the strain RKJ 800 that suggested the cleavage of the HQ to γ-hydroxymuconic semialdehyde. On the basis of the 16S rRNA gene sequencing, strain RKJ 800 was identified as a member of genus Burkholderia. Our studies clearly showed that Burkholderia sp. RKJ 800 degraded 2-chloro-4-nitrophenol via hydroquinone pathway. The pathway identified in a gram negative bacterium, Burkholderia sp. strain RKJ 800 was differed from previously reported 2C4NP degradation pathway in another gram-negative Burkholderia sp. SJ98. This is the first report of the formation of CHQ and HQ in the degradation of 2C4NP by any gram-negative bacteria. Laboratory-scale soil microcosm studies showed that strain RKJ 800 is a suitable candidate for bioremediation of 2C4NP contaminated sites
Colored Non-Crossing Euclidean Steiner Forest
Given a set of -colored points in the plane, we consider the problem of
finding trees such that each tree connects all points of one color class,
no two trees cross, and the total edge length of the trees is minimized. For

Role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in the pathophysiology of Diabetes mellitus
© 2017 EDIZIONI MINERVA MEDICA. Diabetes mellitus is becoming the critical problem among the entire world and it is difficult to understand the molecular mechanism representing the concept of diabetic pathology. Recently the knowledge of the involvement of genetics in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) susceptibility has sketched a great concentration towards the transcriptional activity of β cells within the pancreas. This disease becomes the leading cause of death, so it is necessary to study the molecular pathogenesis, phenotypes, and characteristics to design the therapeutic parameters. Here in this review role of miRNA is being illustrated as it plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis, progression, and fate of beta cells of pancreas regulating the insulin secretion. Here in this review, we try to include the effects and pathophysiology of various miRNA in diabetes mellitus and on the various sites of the human body
The Traveling Salesman Problem: Low-Dimensionality Implies a Polynomial Time Approximation Scheme
The Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) is among the most famous NP-hard
optimization problems. We design for this problem a randomized polynomial-time
algorithm that computes a (1+eps)-approximation to the optimal tour, for any
fixed eps>0, in TSP instances that form an arbitrary metric space with bounded
intrinsic dimension.
The celebrated results of Arora (A-98) and Mitchell (M-99) prove that the
above result holds in the special case of TSP in a fixed-dimensional Euclidean
space. Thus, our algorithm demonstrates that the algorithmic tractability of
metric TSP depends on the dimensionality of the space and not on its specific
geometry. This result resolves a problem that has been open since the
quasi-polynomial time algorithm of Talwar (T-04)
Phosphatidylinositol-4,5 Bisphosphate Produced by PIP5K(gamma) Regulates Gelsolin, Actin Assembly, and Adhesion Strength of N-Cadherin Junctions
Phosphoinositides regulate several actin-binding proteins but their role at intercellular adhesions has not been defined. We found that phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2) was generated at sites of N-cadherin–mediated intercellular adhesion and was a critical regulator of intercellular adhesion strength. Immunostaining for PI(4,5)P2 or transfection with GFP-PH-PLCδ showed that PI(4,5)P2 was enriched at sites of N-cadherin adhesions and this enrichment required activated Rac1. Isoform-specific immunostaining for type I phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5 kinase (PIP5KI) showed that PIP5KIγ was spatially associated with N-cadherin–Fc beads. Association of PIP5KIγ with N-cadherin adhesions was in part dependent on the activation of RhoA. Transfection with catalytically inactive PIP5KIγ blocked the enrichment of PI(4,5)P2 around beads. Catalytically inactive PIP5KIγ or a cell-permeant peptide that mimics and competes for the PI(4,5)P2-binding region of the actin-binding protein gelsolin inhibited incorporation of actin monomers in response to N-cadherin ligation and reduced intercellular adhesion strength by more than twofold. Gelsolin null fibroblasts transfected with a gelsolin severing mutant containing an intact PI(4,5)P2 binding region, demonstrated intercellular adhesion strength similar to wild-type transfected controls. We conclude that PIP5KIγ-mediated generation of PI(4,5)P2 at sites of N-cadherin contacts regulates intercellular adhesion strength, an effect due in part to PI(4,5)P2-mediated regulation of gelsolin
Provably weak instances of ring-LWE revisited
In CRYPTO 2015, Elias, Lauter, Ozman and Stange described an attack on the non-dual decision version of the ring learning with errors problem (RLWE) for two special families of defining polynomials, whose construction depends on the modulus q that is being used. For particularly chosen error parameters, they managed to solve non-dual decision RLWE given 20 samples, with a success rate ranging from 10% to 80%. In this paper we show how to solve the search version for the same families and error parameters, using only 7 samples with a success rate of 100%. Moreover our attack works for every modulus q instead of the q that was used to construct the defining polynomial. The attack is based on the observation that the RLWE error distribution for these families of polynomials is very skewed in the directions of the polynomial basis. For the parameters chosen by Elias et al. the smallest errors are negligible and simple linear algebra suffices to recover the secret. But enlarging the error paremeters makes the largest errors wrap around, thereby turning the RLWE problem unsuitable for cryptographic applications. These observations also apply to dual RLWE, but do not contradict the seminal work by Lyubashevsky, Peikert and Regev
